I hardly ever see these light commercial units anymore. I miss working on them. They are basically a residential unit in one box. Nothing to complicated about them. I do enjoy the heavy commercial side. Last week i replaced a blower motor that weighs more than that entire unit. Nothing says fun like getting a 100hp motor up 4 flights of stairs just to get it loaded in the back of your truck. Damn motor weighed 1200 lbs. Then we had to get it installed again after it was re-wound and new bearings installed. We just recently installed 3 screw compressors that weighed 1800 lbs each. Each one cost the customer $75k. It gets real expensive, real quick in heavy commercial.
Love doing roof top replacements. Think it’s because I’m getting older and I like the fact that there really is no lifting involved and no stairs to manager equipment up and down. Nice job gentleman.👍🇨🇦
Johnson controls makes York, Coleman, Frasier-Johnston, Guardian, Luxair, Tempmaster, and evcon. I'm technical support for all the products. York must use local distributor for technical support. all the other brands can call for technical support number for Johnson controls.
I believe Johnson Controls makes both York and Coleman. Their websites look the same. The newer York stuff is better than it used to be though. Not all units are micro channel coils anymore. Great video as always. Nice to see commercial work on the channel again. Have a great day sir.
Two things. First, even though that unit is branded as a Coleman, it is a part of the Sunline design series. Second...for those of you who are new to the microchannel York product...if you find the unit flat out of gas, apply N2 and check the black wrapped joint near the condenser coils, one on each line. They call that a "transition joint," and it is a robot welded joint between the copper lines and the aluminum manifold of the MC coil. If you have bubbles, it's a new coil. FYI. Other than that as a failure point, I use my Amprobe ultrasonic to listen for leaks in the MC coil, and I confirm with Big Blu. These guys are going to keep us all busy, so get used to working on these units.
My country home in Bonne Terre Missouri has a Coleman air conditioner that runs off gas and it works great. I believe it works like a gas refrigerator that is in a travel trailer. I think it is over 20 years old.
@@PipeDoctor thank you. The other day I attempted to inspect our Goodman evap coil for dog fur and dust build up but there were a few hard to reach screws.
They put a coleman in my grandparents house trailer. Years ago my pap bought a custom house trailer (70x10-15) and he had to have the furnace replaced before he died in 18. The company put a coleman in. It ran great Its still running to this day. This was NOT a camper furnace or anything like that. it was a residential high efficiency furnace.
Micro channel is RUBBISH, I've replaced 14 Samsung mini split units in my investment properties, the oldest was only 6 years an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE, they should be considered "environmental criminals".
Thank God you had a crane operator who was prompt and cared for your installation. That’s sometimes half your battle.
We use Coleman for trailer house installs. They’re pretty well built. I believe Coleman itself falls under the York umbrella of companies.

Omg that was my life in the early 2002’s crane and helicopter roof top units, with curb adapters!!! Good video
That cracks me up about the component map. Nothing ever matches lol

Coleman is York lol, its like replacing Rheem with a Ruud
Mikey how come no tagline when doing the crane pick? You would be able to control the unit better.

@Mikey Pipes - Pipe Doctor Plumbing & Heating & Air correct no difference just different name. All the same materials just less price due to name
Mike what the crane rates hours?
Coleman, York, Luxaire = Johnson Controls, pretty sure they all come from the same factory in Texas.

That is called an Absorber.
Isn't Coleman manufactured by York??
Coleman is owned by Johnson controls and York/Coleman made in same factory in Texas
Mikey what kind of nut drivers and drill extensions do you use?

Bueno Bueno Senor Doctor M. Pipes
Coleman is york, just sub brand for contractors. The thing thats sucks about them is you ever need tech support, york will not support it
Mike does that fluke meter measure phase angle for 3 phase motors?
I always just turn it on for a quick second

I surprised you can get anything from York. Every time we order something it has a 6 month lead time. York and Lennox have the worst lead times.

Pro looking job as usual ... Making the trades fun again Thx Mikey & Crew
