k3n Katherine - you are taking my brain on a new journey - UGH!! I made a wonky log cabin last night before your video came out and now I must make a new one using paper. I was all excited that I was using bits and bobs to make my log cabin which was very different for me and now you have shown me something I would never have thought of. Okay - my husband will have leftovers for dinner - I must now create.
Love stitching on cloth and paper. Such texture! And I remember “sewing” a dog, a cat and a flower with the shoe lace thread. The cat had a very wonky smile! 🤪
I laugh at myself while watching you...I get so engrossed in your process...as if I am watching some very engaging movie...I am constantly commenting on your process...in a very supportive way!
Pretty. Can't wait for the Manx section of this project. I want to make a manx quilt and am too scared to start!! lol. Actually I have to finish up all my other projects first--a promise I made myself for this year.
The idea of mixing paper and fabric is interesting. I am going to have to try this. I think this is the year I am going to make myself my first stitching journal.
I am only 8 minutes into watching this video and just have to stop and comment! I am delighted you are working with paper, being an avid art journaler. I decided to make 2024 a slow stitching year and have been contentedly following your Monday stitching page series. But I miss my art journal! At the risk of starting yet another project -- I simply cannot resist! I have been inspired and know exactly how I want to start it -- and you have only put the center square and a few bits of paper! I am off to watch the rest of Part 1 and can't wait to see how this series progresses. Thank you for the inspiration 🌷🌷🌷
Ooo! K3N making Wednesday fun! I love the idea! Re wonky log cabins … I saw someone on the internet (?!) do a log cabin and instead of doing a centre square, did a centre hexi! The first “bit” is a triangle and after that process is totally the same. Add a strip and trim. I am so excited to try! ❤❤❤
I've seen those too but never tried, I have done equilateral triangles however, they're fun and when you put 6 together, you get a hexagon. Plenty more ideas for future wonky Wednesdays 😂❤️
@@k3n.clothtales I am totally on board! One of the paper/fabric log cabin ideas you gave me is to use washi tape and create collage boards using washi (and paper now too). This would be fantastic paper bases for journalling!!!
Kathryn I'm so enjoying your tutorials. Watched them all so far but life is getting in the way at the moment. I'm using the time to collect materials together and then looking forward to having a really good play. 😄x
@@k3n.clothtales I can't mediate as my brain won't behave but I'm as calm as humanly possible when watching ASMR (intentional or unintentional) or when hyper focusing on a passion. Sewing is both, it's so therapeutic ❤ Your voice helps a lot too and I love the wittering and what I call "tangenting" 😊
This looks brillant!! I love the paper fabric mix. Im happy you took the red stitches out; they were stealing the show. Im off to create one of these. Thank you for your time, talent, and inspiration!! Hugs ❤
You could call them French loops. 🙂 This was a fun little piece to watch get born. I agree that the red didn't play as well with the square. I had punched sewing cards too. It was fun. I also now wonder if they exist anymore. I think I'll look for some for my grandchildren.
Yes they still make them! But a tad more friable nowadays, got some last year in a craftware/art paper shop 🤔 for miss3 who wanted to mend like G'ma 👍 ( Julia)
Hiya K3n😊,trying to catch up-23:07 pm here! But can listen before sleeping 😴. Will use this idea to make some pages with bits of lace lve made to journal their patterns 😊you always supply ideas that can be built on❤Keep having " fun",your voice sounds so filled with delight!best wishes, J.I.M.K Mrs. Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 ♥ 😉😊Julia.
Oh thank you for the tip, there's a little tools catalogue sitting on the kitchen table that would be perfect. Better make sure the husband has finished with it first though 😂♥️
Well, I loved it, of course! I had already loved Machteld’s idea and I love to stitch on paper, paper on paper and cloth on paper (basically I like to stitch anything: I had these plastic containers and I didn’t want to throw them away so I stitched on them and made book markers 😁). I confess that I loved the red stitches, but as you say “you do you” 😁 That expression can’t be translated into Portuguese, so I say it in English when I talk to myself, because I’ve always talked to myself (I am an only child too). I love loopy French knots and I still call them French knots 😁 Have a lovely rest of the week, lovely Kathryn 💙💛🤎💚🤍🩵🩷♥️💜🧡👋🏻
I’m a real journaller and I never use ink. 😅. I do use cloth in my journals either glued or stitched in. I use Pritt Stick, it sticks cloth really well.
Loved this! I’m working on my kawandi table runner as I’m listening to you. I’m always coming from behind, except for combining cloth and paper with stitching in my journals. I’ve been doing that for years and love to. However you give me permission to be freer and I appreciate that. ❤
I m amazing with your all work … I m learning a lot with you. I saw a video how you use tea bag to colour. Have you other good idea to give other colour ? I m from Portugal, I hope you understand my english write 😂
Катрин, с удовольствием смотрю ваш канал, но к сожалению не знаю ваш язык, поэтому не непонятно, почему вы делаете это на бумаге, а не на ткани? Напишите пожалуйста в комментариях, там есть переводчик. Я из России

I don't usually like the log cabin motif, but this is special... and I love the subtle shades of "neutral" with all the differing textures. Beautiful.
You have given me the idea of using my ribbons and lace on paper. Thank you. My brain neurons are snapping rapidly.
Love going on this wonkabout with you Kathryn! I like the stitching on it (also the red) and the whole experiment! Thank you!!💖🍀🥰
Hi 👋🏻 Machteld! Can’t wait to see your version 😊💙

Oh my goodness … thank you for this amazing ‘wonky Wednesday play date’. Love it ❤️
I remember sewing cards when I was young…..my Nana from Ireland gave them to me!
Presto! you are now a multimedia artist!
I love that your red square now resembles a heart. The heart of the home.❤
Yes! I didn't see that until I took the photo ❤️

Love the texture and colours of your piece and what fun to stitch paper as well as cloth
I did a paper Manx block and loved it. Did another. Then one of fabric. Love them.
I have enjoyed making cloth ones and made a mini one for my journal, haven't tried a paper one yet though 😊♥️
