Why didn't we see Mikey with his "slower" swing speed hit this driver? Seems like he would have been a better match to this model to see what it would do for a mid to mid-higher swing speed. He verbally mentioned he hit it but it's not the same thing! Great video, especially the comment for the push faders, that's a very valuable piece of technical information. Thanks for the review. Maybe get a 90 to 100 mph swinger into the studio to test this head for you guys.
Mikey hasn’t been hitting balls / practicing in recent weeks. It’s important these tests are conducted to the best of our ability, not being butchered because we’re a tad rusty with our golf swings.
I usually love your reviews, however found this one a little strange! I thought Ian was hitting the ball straighter than usual, and this despite hitting consistently low and towards toe, was actually quite impressive performance from the driver. For a Forgivess driver it would have been helpful to see performance from some high strikes, heel strikes and a few centre strikes. I guess it gets quite difficult to do a review when the Driver doesn’t suit the tester. Keep up the great content guys.
Peter finchs review is a great place to see a man with massive speed hit this, he adores it over the new TM and doesnt ove spin it at all. hit it at 8 degrees though.
117mph swing speed and I found gains with this driver although the spin was slightly higher window than I’m used to I was able to do a 1” tip on an X flex and got back into the spin numbers I’m used to seeing. I wanted the most forgiving driver I could fine and this hit the spot. Also a reason why Cam Champ is now gaming this model and he absolutely crushes the ball! Good review though!!
It will be interesting to see how the 10K and Max compare over time. Other reviewers are finding the 10K to spin less than Max, but that's obviously dependent on delivery, so YMMV. As they say, "Get fit" but it does seem like the 10K will be a useful addition to the Ping lineup for many golfers.
I'm around 112 mph but tend to be a little steep and squeezy with a cut. In G425 max now but I'm 2600-3000 more often than not. I've stayed away from the LST for forgiveness reasons and not needing the length for the distance of course I play. I'd like to see if the 10k would be a good middle ground for me.
Ian’s analysis about whether the things lost make the MOI gained worth it sounds exactly like what Vosh was saying on the Mizuno video about the why their ST-MAX isn’t a 10K MOI driver.
Obviously, the Max "out of the box" in standard spec is a better fit for Ian than the 10k is. By why not try to optimize them a bit? Loft the 10k down and it seems like a lot of the negatives (which weren't all that bad) would have been resolved. Also, when down to a swing speed that was closer to the center of the bell curve for golfers (but still fast), the performance was strong with no adjustments. Why not hit the regular Max at the same speed to get a comparison? Just seemed like the 10k isn't Ian's cup of tea, so the narrative stayed almost entirely negative.
@@ianfrasergolf I appreciate the response and always a fan of the videos, just think a little more could have been done with this one (also the intro comments might have come off better after a couple of shots). Keep up the good work.
I think you’re right about the upside of fitting with the 10k to the extent that players can see improved face stability with higher moi. A stiffer shaft particularly in the tip would help control lead deflection. Some players would like the stability of a firmer shaft that otherwise don’t have the speed to launch it.
Great that you guys are still delivering honest reviews based upon your experiences of hitting the clubs. I’m sure some people were cynical when you joined the Club Champion group but they should worry not. 👍🏻
Supporting my opinion that golf equipment tests and reviews are 80% subjective, Golf Monthly magazine just published the Ping 10K review. Their testers achieved a 20 yard distance gain over the G430 Max. They also report improved forgiveness and shot consistency. The best way for a golfer to evaluate if a club will help improve shot making is to visit a shop / fitter and swing the thing.
I think this is a great driver, positioned as an addition to the 430 line. Just like the SFT, it’s really just an additional option to be considered instead of some big replacement.
Thankyou Ian and Mike for the head to head comparison and the insight. I was a bit caught up in the hype for this 2 months ago as my last driver was a G400 max. Was fitted into a G430 max with ventus blue last year, and until lately was looking for that extra forgiveness the 400 had as it masked so many deficiencies in my swing. Looking at this I think I'll keep my current gamer 😅 my driving is about as good as it has ever been over the last month thanks to a small swing change.
They seemed to be super negative out of the gate, and almost every other reviewer has found it to be a better club than these did. It probably doesn't support their fitting mantra because it isn't as adjustable as the Max.
Love the honesty! Others have been seeing that this 10k model tends to be giving give lower spin than the max.. equating to more distance while still maintaining huge forgiveness.. at first this would be the holy grail, but you have made me realize it’s probably all hype!
At this point, driver design and manufacturing is so good that gains will be very small. But this means you must know your swing profile and what works and must be aware that everything in life is a trade-off.
This review of the 10k was unfortunate. You might want to revisit this. People need to know how it performs when you find the middle at least a few times.
Somewhat agree it is absolutely an awesome driver especially if you have a decent swing. A lot of other reviews, I think really gave it a more fair overview, though I love their approach.
Just got fitted for a G430 max from Joe in Glasgow last week and had a great fit and the standard max was a lot better for me than the 10k. Can’t wait to get it and find some fairways. Great video again guys and great time at Club Champion in Glasgow again.
Any reason why you didn't test this with any other shafts? It seems like you started the review predisposed to not wanting to give this a fair shot. I tested this driver myself and picked up almost 10 yards of carry on average over my G425. Actually going through the process of fitting the driver to Ian's swing would have been interesting to watch. Hitting a driver stock and saying it sucks isn't quite the "get fitted" message I would expect.
You guys were certainly negative about this club from the beginning of the video prior to testing it. I found it off-putting considering the club's performance appeared pretty good.
Maybe ironically, but this is a great sales pitch for Ian's gamer. But it is also really nice to see straight shot after straight shot with either of the Pings compared to the stubbornly offline results of some of your other tests of new drivers. I don't play a Ping, but this speaks well for their designs, especially for average golfers. I think the Ping Max 10K was supposed to be in between the Max and the LST, with the same peak height as the Max but a bit lower spin for slightly more carry than the Max. But to produce these fine differences in performance on a consistent basis, you'd have to be a robot machine. Based on your results, can't see the Max 10K taking any sales away from the Max.
Kind of a hatchet job on the marketing of this club-I know that’s extreme but we know you all are wanting us to get fit for this and not buy it off the rack. That sentence was missing in here, or maybe just stated once? Looking forward to Ian getting dialed in and see how a different combo stacks up? Do love the honesty-you all don’t simply say everything is great and that is super appreciated. Keep it up! Good video.
Completely understand the apprehension to the 10k's from the fitters' perspective, but as someone who's game is hampered by driving and driving alone these clubs seem like they are going to be quiet the blessing. You hit every one of those on a rope and so have many testing. Great video as usual!

For the truth, no BS reviews. Sometimes the truth hurts some, but for most the truth saves them money and time. I know this review made me just want to keep my 430 in the bag until ping comes out with something worth the $$$ Thanks gents. Keep up the grind.
Can you do another video where you try to fit a shaft? Cam Champ is playing the driver and I would imagine he's not playing the CB Alta. What happens if you put your gamer shaft in it?
I had a G400 driver when they were out. 445 cc or so head. Limited shaft sleeve adjustment and a "changeable" weight in a fixed position. Wish I had never gotten rid of it.
I’m a plus 2 handicap, I’ve game both 10k and the max,max has been good to me but the 10k is on a new level and I’ve gain so much yardage because of the lower spin consistently from the 10k, you seem bias but that’s your opinion, cheers!
Not sure if Cam Champ still has this in play but I would imagine if he's willing to play for millions and use this, it's still okay for "high speed" players. My guess maybe it's better suited for guys who need a bit more launch and maybe tend to favor the toe a little bit on the miss (helping keep spin up on those?) I also thought Finau put this in play too... another speedy lad.
It may look like 10k Max but I’m betting they were fitted w/MUCH lighter rear weight screw and possibly so Liquid Metal mass injected into forward section of head. Just because a tour player wears a hat promoting a specific club and the driver appears to be that certain model does not mean it’s that model. They’ve invariably been altered substantially to suit the player
Cameron Champ’s launch conditions are better suited for this club to be fair. He’s a little more downward attack angle which means he needs the additional spin for the proper window.
Have to say I’ve enjoyed your other reviews but there was something really odd about this one, it came across that you’d made your minds up and were quite negative about it before you even started. Might just be me but it’s the way it came across with this one.
Before he hit one ball, in his mind, the 10K was trash. Every other video that I’ve seen, the 10K was longer with less spin. I’m puzzled on why the negativity. Never seen them so negative in any video.
Thought of trying to bridge the best of both worlds, a g430 max 10k with changing the rear fixed weight to slightly lighter to get more speed closer to the non 10k max model? I know it loses the 10k but would be interesting to see how the extra carbon fiber like the low spin model would do with less weight for slightly more speed in a forgiving shape.
For a guy that is 5'10" tall. the 10000g/cm2 MOI might be accurate. For a guy my height, 6'3" tall, the axis of spin is higher by as much as 4 to5 inches, which seems to reduce the resulting MOI for a shaft length the same as the shorter guy. All things being equal, the length of the swinging element, which has to include the arm length with a swing axis at the neck of the golfer, longer will reduce MOI significantly. What effect that reduction in MOI would have on the golf shot may or may not be significant. It is certain that one manufacturer recognizes the effect of length, and compensates by having the shaft fit deeper into the max head, which makes their max club shorter than their standard and LS models with the same length shaft.
Ian has a great driver swing but hits quite up on it (i.e. positive attack angle). Curious if your delivery angle is closer to neutral (vs Ian's +6) and you still have a lot of speed, how it would do (I think most pga guys actually have a neutral to negative attack angle). The guy who comes to mind who "squeezes" it is Brooks (granted he's not a Ping guy). I swing it 115+ and recently went from the Ping 430 LST to the 430 max, as it's so much easier to hit. I also went down from a Ventus black 6x to a Ventus TR black 5x. I like the TR way more (it's smoother and the the lighter weight helps on the back 9!) but I think I need to tip it a bit as it feel a little soft on the tip vs the OG Black. I'm still prob going to get the 10k. Can't help myself 😂. Thanks for the video gents!!
I agreed Todd, not sure if you skipped the part of the video where we demonstrated that but this driver certainly works better with compressed Spin Loft.
@@clubchampionmedia watched the whole thing! Actually that's what made me think of it. However, Ian's "squeeze" is still +4 (ps I'm jealous) vs my normal range of -1 to +1. I'll report back in a few weeks:) Great vid as always. Thanks guys.
Im in the same aoa window of -1 to +1. I'm at 105 swing speed. I struggle with getting enough launch, but then it spins too much (2500+). I think i need to go test these out lst vs max vs 10k. Let me know what you find out with your testing. @@toddp9164
I have seen this club get more reviews on more RUclips channels that were favorable and I went out and bought it even though I just bought the stealth 2 last summer. For me more personally I had was still too quite well but this club is down the middle every single time, I just got it a week ago and I have played only once and I went to the range once, but this thing is on a rope as far as being straight
Biggest take-a-way from this is one of their last comments "go get fit". It's clear neither of them like the 10k and it appears they don't like it due to limited options for fitting (no movable weight). We never saw one strike at or above the center line - all were low on the face. Disappointed in their effort on this video.
how does the new driver compare when you have a slower swing speed? You did not make it very clear comparing it to your driver which was not a good comparison.
Just out of curiosity, why would this 10K end up in the hands of a guy like Cameron Champ? Fitting process and the fact that he’s got speed to spare let him get away with it? Also, Mikey’s personality is coming out more and more! Good stuff guys!
Conspiracy theory. The ball roll back is directly related to manyfactuers getting to the point they are going to max out equipment, at least drivers anyway. Once that were to happen, how does anyone convince you you upgrade? Change the ball, however, everything changes. New spin to manage, new launch to manage, changes feels and sounds, etc. All the sudden, old drivers dont work very well with the new ball.
According to published info last year I’m showing the 430 Max was 10,055 g-cm2 moi. LST was 9.083 g-cm2 and SFT was 8,643 g-cm2. Wonder what the 10k is ?
I’ll tell you now I’m 6-7 deg up on it and I spin this thing at 2300 with stupid efficiency.. I swing on average around 121mph and this driver cooked everything this year, I it’s spins between 2300-2650 for me regardless on strike .. im historically a low spinner of the golf ball but this has been ridiculous
I hardly ever hit the ball past 250 anymore...I believe my swing speed is around 93 to 99 if I really let loose. I find that probably about 70% of golfers out there have a swing speed in the 90 mph range yet it is so very hard to find a channel where the host has what 70 to 75% of golfers have. I'd do it, but I'm too damn lazy. A little help in this category would be nice.
As someone who has to golf within a budget I think I'll take the "band-aid" 10k or high MOI driver and save on all the additional fees to practice, play golf, get a premium ball for the season
Great point! However, I can only test the new product when getting fit. So when I go to the second hand market I'm still making a somewhat blind decision. To me this makes the G400 or Tsi2 driver category a safer option to keep myself in play more often
Hi! Just subscribed. Love this channel, heaven for golf nerds. I bought the G430 max 10.5, then at testing I was getting 4500spin - the fitter said I should change to the LST as when we tested I was getting 2199 spin (9degree) So I have the LST. Will this give me the low spin of the LST with the forgiveness of the 10k/max?
I'm at the 5 minute mark stopping to post and ask you to.... HIT THE F'NG CLUB JESUS F'NG CHRIST...OH MY GOD! puts it down before hitting it... Other reviewers remarking on how spin is maintained all over face. Low spin. Long drives...
Cameron champ changed into 10k. This should be taken into consideration when asking who is this driver for? This review seems biased for criticism. Why not lower loft if dynamic loft is too high?
The touble is, companies have no incentive to create a 'perfect' driver. Sure, tech is constantly improving and there will be incremental gains, but they need to curtail improvements in order to have a new product line to release every year. Ideally for the consumer each company would release a new driver every 3-5 years, but that wouldn't be a sustainable buisness model.
On cruise control my ball speed is in the mid to high 170’s I believe. I love using the 430 Max but I am wondering if there would be a better driver to maximize my speed.
Boys, I think it was an iterative change. They were unable to put carbon on a 460 cc driver...all of those desirables will occur now that they have solved the mystery of 460 AND carbon.
I want to get a fitting, but I use Jumbomax grips, which drastically affect grip style and swing weight. Do you fellas have solutions for that? Is it possible to get an adequate fitting when I need specialty grips?
Ponder this; with the rollback on the balls, it puts pressure on club manufacturing to produce clubs that make the ball go further, if not why buy new clubs.
They have the same challenge regardless of the rollback. Its getting harder to make the ball go longer which is why you're hearing lots about forgiveness, high MOI etc.
Just get fit and don't buy off the rack based on hype. I got fit and 10k was better for me. I'm a 2 handicap and strong iron player, but driving accuracy is my weakness. I was getting great #s and nice dispersion with the 10k over my old gamer
What is the swingweight of the 10k in a non counterbalanced shaft? I’m seeing a lot of videos tested with Ventus velocore shafts but I have to imagine the swingweight is high given what sounds to be like a heavy head in the 10k?
Christ Ian.... If you want to learn to hit more shots in the Heal... Just Give me a call !!! You just have to be born with an Over the top natural move ... LOL In return, you have to get me hitting closer to the Toe... It's Location... Must be a Helensburgh to Glasgow thing... ?? I'm available ......and can book you in for a fitting anytime LOL .....
So…increasing the weight of the Max to 28g would give you a “10k-ish” driver with better adjustability? 🤔🤨 Not sold on the importance of this newest model. Callaway subsonic/*** with the two round weight-screws also gives you possibilities in this area, without the elephant-footprint 😉🤭

Almost every review I have seen puts the Max 10k above all others. Is CC getting a lot of pressure from the big boys??@@garyhuffman2734
The main reason was for lower spin than 430k. It was to be positioned between theLST version. Each was never mentioned
Ian with that PENETRATING flight 😂
Different result here than on other YT channels, interesting, maybe proves its really in the hands of the player swinging it
Thought of trying to bridge the best of both worlds, a g430 max 10k with changing the rear fixed weight to slightly lighter to get more speed closer to the non 10k max model? I know it loses the 10k but would be interesting to see how the extra carbon fiber like the low spin model would do with less weight for slightly more speed in a forgiving shape.
THIS is the one i've been waiting for. Let's go!
Can't wait for you guy's to review the darks peed x cobra driver 😮
I’m a Titliest fan but I have a ping g400 5 wood that I just love ! I can’t part with it 😂
Ian has a great driver swing but hits quite up on it (i.e. positive attack angle).
I'll report back in a few weeks:)
Great vid as always. Thanks guys.
Im in the same aoa window of -1 to +1. I'm at 105 swing speed. I struggle with getting enough launch, but then it spins too much (2500+). I think i need to go test these out lst vs max vs 10k. Let me know what you find out with your testing.

Fitting is a must 😮
I have seen this club get more reviews on more RUclips channels that were favorable and I went out and bought it even though I just bought the stealth 2 last summer. For me more personally I had was still too quite well but this club is down the middle every single time, I just got it a week ago and I have played only once and I went to the range once, but this thing is on a rope as far as being straight
Interesting. Hannah Holden with 95 club head speed found big gains with 10k
The review Peter Finch did on this driver showed the EXACT opposite. The driver was extremely forgiving and low spin. He was carrying it 300 yards.
Cool stoiry
Mr finch found that club had lower spin for him
Him and every review I watched except this one.
Biggest take-a-way from this is one of their last comments "go get fit". It's clear neither of them like the 10k and it appears they don't like it due to limited options for fitting (no movable weight). We never saw one strike at or above the center line - all were low on the face. Disappointed in their effort on this video.
Did the headcover fall apart whilst doing your review lol
I'll be keeping last years 430 MAX for now. Cheers guys.
cameron champ loved it
I went from g430 max 10.5 in 1 lower to the g430 10k 9 degree and I easily hit it 10-15 yards further! Definitely lower spin for me.
how does the new driver compare when you have a slower swing speed? You did not make it very clear comparing it to your driver which was not a good comparison.
Just out of curiosity, why would this 10K end up in the hands of a guy like Cameron Champ? Fitting process and the fact that he’s got speed to spare let him get away with it? Also, Mikey’s personality is coming out more and more! Good stuff guys!
I think it’s because he has an incredibly flat trajectory with loads of speed
A little late to this show, but how does the NON-10K do w/ Ian's "slow" swing compared to the 10K?
I’ll tell you now I’m 6-7 deg up on it and I spin this thing at 2300 with stupid efficiency.. I swing on average around 121mph and this driver cooked everything this year, I it’s spins between 2300-2650 for me regardless on strike .. im historically a low spinner of the golf ball but this has been ridiculous
So the G430 Max 10k works for speeds of 100-105? Is there a comparison between this swing speed with the G430 Max? That would be helpful to see.
I am going for a fitting and going to do some side by sides to m current G430 Max, reallllly interested in seeing what I can with it
As someone who has to golf within a budget I think I'll take the "band-aid" 10k or high MOI driver and save on all the additional fees to practice, play golf, get a premium ball for the season
Why wouldnt you go get fit, take the info from the fitting and go Driver shopping accordingly to suit your budget?
Great point! However, I can only test the new product when getting fit. So when I go to the second hand market I'm still making a somewhat blind decision. To me this makes the G400 or Tsi2 driver category a safer option to keep myself in play more often
Did Ian say "fargiveness"
Cheers from Scottsdale
The BEST reviewers out there. Period.
Is 10K redundant? Because, why would it ever be "better" than an adjustable max? Weird release. But, still cool.
Hi! Just subscribed. Love this channel, heaven for golf nerds.
I bought the G430 max 10.5, then at testing I was getting 4500spin - the fitter said I should change to the LST as when we tested I was getting 2199 spin (9degree)
So I have the LST. Will this give me the low spin of the LST with the forgiveness of the 10k/max?
Why didn't you go down in loft and make it flatter. In this review it's like it hasn't got any adjustability
The 10k is meant for slower swing speeds and amateur golfers that need its to be in the fairway 250 not 290 and in the bush
Would have preferred to have this test done by mike, his speed would have fit into a better window and delivery for this driver
I feel like Ian should have tested it with the loft down.
You seem to be the only ones testing the 10k to have more spin than the max.
😂😂😂😂 stop…
When is the next speed check up video ?
Boys, I think it was an iterative change. They were unable to put carbon on a 460 cc driver...all of those desirables will occur now that they have solved the mystery of 460 AND carbon.
Isn’t Cam Champ gaming the 10k?
I want to get a fitting, but I use Jumbomax grips, which drastically affect grip style and swing weight. Do you fellas have solutions for that? Is it possible to get an adequate fitting when I need specialty grips?
Ponder this; with the rollback on the balls, it puts pressure on club manufacturing to produce clubs that make the ball go further, if not why buy new clubs.
They have the same challenge regardless of the rollback. Its getting harder to make the ball go longer which is why you're hearing lots about forgiveness, high MOI etc.
@@clubchampionmediaExactly
Peter finch had opposite results. 10k was lower spinning than max. And suggested tour players are switching
Just get fit and don't buy off the rack based on hype. I got fit and 10k was better for me. I'm a 2 handicap and strong iron player, but driving accuracy is my weakness. I was getting great #s and nice dispersion with the 10k over my old gamer
This Vs the g430 SFT …. Most people miss to the left . Which is more forgiving/ better option ?
Most people miss right, with a slice. SFT is far more draw biased.
@@clubchampionmedia sorry yes I’m left handed ! Which is more forgiving ?
What is Ian's current driver setup? And crazy he guessed the results before the testing. 🧠🤯
I’ll be staying with my G400
Oh, with my 16° out-to-in path...face open about 27°... 25mm heel...I could easily spin that at 10,000 RPM.
Wait, is that not what that means?
So…increasing the weight of the Max to 28g would give you a “10k-ish” driver with better adjustability? 🤔🤨 Not sold on the importance of this newest model.
Callaway subsonic/*** with the two round weight-screws also gives you possibilities in this area, without the elephant-footprint 😉🤭
What is the unit of MOI?
If pro golfers hit 60% of fairways, the idea that Ian wouldn’t know who with a fast swing speed this would be good for is absurd.
