- Never leave your power armor at settlements if you don't want this to happen. I don't use power armor but I like to collect them. I never have red rocket as a settlement bc I keep my collection of power armor there.
Only reason why this happened was because I forgot to take the fusion core out. How and Why did I forget you may ask? Well I took it off because I wanted to work on the settlement for a bit and after that I stopped playing the game to get some rest. A few weeks pass and I completely forgot what I was doing, so I just left the settlement without even realizing I had left my armor there. I come back to the settlement about an hour or so and I lure a Behemoth ( the one that lives by those cars that are like stuck to the ground and are facing up) to my settlement for entertainment. The whole fight happens and I realize that one of my settlers happens to be wearing my suit in battle. I then quickly kill the behemoth and just feel kinda dumb for a bit. It wasn't a huge deal to me, but it was a little annoying. Kinda funny now that I think about it lol

Leaving your power armor at a settlement with a fusion core in it is the post apocalyptic equivalent of parking your car in a bad neighborhood and leaving the key in the center console.

That’s why I made me my own power armor factory in the highest safe house I’ve ever built lol ain’t nobody getting up there lol built it at the top of the power tower at Abernathy farm. Cuz that’s the only settlement that lets you build all the way to the top of those power towers.
But I did make the mistake of putting my own little growing plot for corn and stuff and some how one of the farmers teleported up there. So now I gotta get rid of it lol it looked kool to man looked like a little pot farm lol 😂

@@TheGreatEllie125 if you're OCD, you'll have to manually add the partially used fusion core to the inventory of the armor, otherwise your character will automatically use a fresh core when you go to use the armor again.

First thing i do In a new settlement is pmant the 3 chips for adhesive, as much of each as I can.
Then walls and turrets.

For anyone wondering why you really shouldn't it's because they'll hop in it during raids and it'll probably take you awhile to find them unless you set them as a trader or something easy to spot.

Besides like 3-4 story places I'd only build like a mortar + essentials and that's it for all the other settlements.

Especially leaving a frame at diamond city and then it eventually becomes something you steal instead of yours.

All of my 18 suits of power armour are stored on Spectacle Island, where I have no settlers and a purpose built locked bunker with 8 roof mounted missile turrets and 10 heavy machine gun turrets, and it's surrounded by mirelurk infested waters, so they're staying mine

Today one stole atoms judgement out of my vault Box and attacked invaders. They steal, stalk, stand stupid in my way , sleep in my and my sons bed. now i understand people with robots instead of humans 😂😂

I learned that companions, raiders, and settlers get into them. The most heartbreaking one is the enemy getting in them cause you lose the shell and the core.
Shoot the fusion core in the back and the raider will get out
One of the first things I do when building a home is make all doors in and out powered by switches. The ai dont use switches to open doors. The only issue is sometimes when you return at night an npc will be sleeping in your private bed because they can teleport when youre not around. Never had anything go missing or be used by settlers that I stored in my private home, however.

What's even worse is when it's the trader's security for the wandering doctor. She snatched it up so fast I stood no chance. What makes it worse is that there's no way to retrieve it. She's not a settler and thus has no dialog for exiting. Surprisingly she's had it for a week of gameplay and it's still in one piece.
Imagine coming home and your neghbor is just chillin in your car and you go "get out" and he goes "okay" then gets out and life goes on.

What probably happened to the armor pieces is they broke while the settler was using the suit. If you select the trade option in the dialogue with them, you should be able to get the pieces back.
I just keep mines in a safe or let security use them lol
Just leave it either in a secure location that npcs cant get to or make sure you have the parts to fix it after it gets used. Or… leave it in a settlement that’s well protected? I leave mine in sanctuary in a secured house and that place is surrounded by walls with turrets lining the street and gated front bridge so nothing is getting in that place unless its in a body bag. I’ve never seen my power armor get messed up even if an npc was wearing it. You can also only leave your weak power armor there.

Fun fact! If you remove the fusion core from a power armor chassis, the AI won't steal it! You can also have companions wear power armor even if there isn't a fusion core in it!

Yep, I came here to say the same thing. Nobody steals unpowered power armor, but oddly companions have no trouble with it. It is very convenient to have them walk suits of armor back to your base without wasting fusion cores.
I'ma keep all my power armors at red rocket station from now on.
@Alcatonic that's what I do. I built 2 warehouses and have them surrounded by a dozen turrets plus I have codsworth anf currie there to guard the place. All this on top of taking the fusion cores out.

It's in the NPC's inventory for some reason, you can equip it back once you ask to trade with him/her.
The safest place is home base at diamond city. But that place isnt big enough for more than a few. So the second best place and most realistic is at the airport, where you cant sustain a settlement because you cant grow food.
Just take the core
or an empty settlement like red rocket

All is okay, they enter power armor upon the settlement being attacked. If the armor breaks, it will be in their inventory under armor

@@Ohm_Kazhbu I got the wrong guy, it was a dude on Reddit but it actually wasn’t the red rocket it might have been one of the settlement like the starlight place. He had power armour suits lined up across the whole roof, must have been 100 there all different colours schemes
Yep I use the rocket as well. Easy to navigate to the top left of the map to fast travel.
I’ve got over 300 maybe 500 power armor suits.
When an armor piece is broken, it comes off and gets stocked in one’s inventory.
You will find your missing armor pieces in Eli’s inventory.

Thanks to RUclips I built a warehouse in Sanctuary Hills for my power armor with an only electric door. I vowed I wouldn’t ever lose a power armor.

Fun fact if you didn't know, if you manage to pickpocket the fusion core off someone in power armor they jump out of it.

@GoatOfTheMountains Yes, I did, easy way to steal armor without damaging it, or, you can use a pistol that does low damage and shoot the core in VATS, they'll eject the core, jump out of the armor and get blown up. Fun times at the airport
Not only don't leave the fusion core in it but don't put fusion cores in the settlements storage they can and will remove them and install while your gone
I have my fusion cores stored in a cabinet next to my power armors. 300+ hours and this never happened.
@@watcherob your lucky then because I have. I used to keep mine in a toolbox next to my power armor workstation and I had to remove them because Piper and Cait wouldn't stop taking them and getting in my armor. If you keep them in the workbenches they wont tho

@@themudpit621 yes they wont do it when in the workbenches but if they are in a toolbox or chest they will randomly search them and if they pull a FC and have it in their inventory they will slap it in power armor especially during settlement raids

I was still fairly new to the game and was fighting at the Cordava Factory, I stepped out of my power armour so I could move around faster, then a few seconds later, a Raider hopped into it. I was thinking "how'd he do that?"
fortunately, I died shortly after and the game reset so i got my power armour back and I never made that mistake again.

Note 1: When a fusion core is in armor. NPCs have a chance to use it. It can be settlers, traveling merchants, or the raiders. If it's a traveling merchant like Trashcan Carla, you can find her in Bunker Hill with the power armor right by her side. She takes off the armor before sleeping.
Note 2: NPCs take 3 times the damage in armor. If don't want to repair those often then just have the frame up.

My first play through I was setting up Finch Farm when a pack of wild dogs attacked. The travelling doctor was there and one of his bodyguards hopped into my brand new X-01 power armor.
I don't use my armor but noticed Carla had some one after a raid and just assumed she had it in her inventory lol. Thanks for letting me know otherwise I would have known.
It’s a function to be able to kit out your settlers in power armor. I do it for roleplay reasons when I join the brotherhood of steel. It’s useful for survival mode as well, since your settlers will actually be better at defending you during attacks.
The reason the armor is almost gone is it broke. Check their inventory for the broken pieces
This is why I leave all my power cores in a box before I leave without my power armor lol. Up until 5 minutes when random deathclaws grab me and I need it lol.
Lol I usually leave my power armor at red rocket cuz it's empty, but I had forgot that I left one at Sunshine settlement.
You can just have them in your inventory? They don't take up any space. Just take the cores out of the armor if you're gonna step out of it. Or leave it at a PA station
I just built a small room with a powered door and turn off the power when I leave then again I got plob 25 sets of complete max upgraded power armour so if they do take it not like they are going to die
Considering they never put a fusion core in power armor, taking the core out is all you need
this is agreat improvement made by 76 you can store power armor chasis in your inventory
That means someone from a powerful faction like the artillery attacked the settlement, so this NPC just fought them. So dont worry, viewer. The pieces are still there, in the inventory of the power armor, you just have to fix them in a power armor workbench. Get informed well, guys! 😊
I think everyone was either joking or going along with jokes, we all know that if a shop keeper has worn and damaged the power armor the peices can be bought back from the shop vendor.

That’s how I got all my companion’s into power armors without using my cores on them
I usually have an specific container just for fusion cores.
I always took them out because im autistic and dont want to be inefficient so I just reuse the same power core until it goes out so I never experienced the problem anyways
This is why I either pull the fusion cores or leave them in a building with only power switch controlled doors.

Max out the Armour. Order them into it. Take the fusion core out. They eject. Order them back into it. They’ll get back in and without the fusion core they become locked in to the power armour, there’s so many sets you can trap the population density in armour, it’s what I’ve done with my Sanctuary Hills, there’s like only the kid, Nick and Murphy who haven’t become Cybermen 😆

this happened 1 time so I built a locked warehouse to store all of my power armor. I have like 40 sets of power armor 😂
I had a tree house in sanctuary with a gap you had to jump to access it. Multiple floors of power armor and then my bedroom up top. Felt like the Fallout 4 version of Iron Man. My entire goal in the game was to find suits and add them to my collection.

This happened to me in Diamond City where I (don’t judge me I’m new to F4) had put 3 sets of power armor in a row next to Kellogg’s house (I was too lazy to get my own so I’m just crashing at his place) and when I came back my most powerful set was being used by a damn DC Guard. Fun fact: if you try to get him out of it, the whole goddamn city starts shooting you

@@CursedSFMSI had extras spread across settlements and was awesome for them defending themselves .power cores never drained and just had to remember to repair after raids and you usually fine and even if they destroyed pieces they were all parts I never used

This is why you always take the fusion core when you exit. Even in Goodneighbor or Diamond city, cause if something followed you in that armor is as good as stolen by the nearest NPC, and those guys you can't just tell to get out
Yeah, the next best thing then is to steal the fusion core, but then that might cause people to attack you if the game detects it as stealing

I was surprised when returning to Sanctuary mid raid. I witnessed 5 settlers defending the settlement in Gundum power armor suits that I forgot I had mods for. It was glorious.
I do leave them at settlements. I just take the extra steps and make a platform/tower with no stairs or a way for them to get up there. Only way in is the fast travel carpet.

Wild a mods radio host taught me about pulling the core if I leave my PA at settlements lol
I had full sets of T45, T51, T60 and X01. But I pretty much always wore the T51 and the others where sitting on racks without a core. Guess thats why no one stole em.
Yep, I have about 60 sets in sanctuary. Been collecting them like a hoarder.
And remember don't store the cores in containers in the nearby to your power armor; settlers would also take them from it to use the power armor.
@@tuazulyrojoeljean unless you playing on hardmode there is no reason to leave them anywhere but your inventory.
That usually happens because of Bethesda code, the armor is being misplaced when you leave the cell of which the power armor is in and worn, happens with companions too, if you check their inventory it should all be there
The first time I saw this I was pissed. Literally tried to steal the fusion core because I didn’t know you could tell them to get out
They actually have it in their inventory. It's like when you wear it and the pieces get damage, it slots into your inventory until you repair it.
Yeah which is great cause then you still have the pieces
Just annoying on harder difficulties when u dont always have the materials to repair it but atleast its not gone for good just outta commission
I usually build a seperate building just for this reason. Use the concrete auto door with a switch, then just disconnect the power wire so the door won't open while you're gone. Works every time.

@KoenigElessar I tried that at the castle, and they still had it out in use. Lol.
But i use a lot of crafting mods and mods that change npc's behavior like immersive citizens, etc. That may be my issue. 😂
Always remember to remove the fusion core before getting out of your power armor.

The reason this happens is because power armor breaks ridiculously fast on NPCs and companions the guy probably hopped in the power armor while your settlement was being attacked
On random peeps yeah but companions? I never had any issues with that, in fact in almost every playthrough i suit em up and its fine
Settlers can on,y enter wee armour while in danger

Power armor breaks ridiculously fast in this game PERIOD. By the F2 lore, 1 mm of silver plating of power armor is built to withstand 200 laser pistol hits at the same spot. In this game one raider can put all your armor to trash in 3 minutes of continuous shooting at you. F4 spits on this series' foundation.

Thats why in the red rocket garage, i have a cupboard blocking the door and when i need to get in for power armor or to look at my collection, i just enter build mode, click on the cupboard (so i can walk through it) then press O (im on ps4). Then i can access it, do the same thing and get out. Its a pretty easy "contraption"
This is why I keep red rocket to myself “if you don’t build it they won’t come”
It's not gone just check the power armors inventory the armors probably damaged and just needs to be repaired👍

@@Dr4go0at a power armor station, but the armor needs to be in the frames inventory. And then you just hit Y or Triangle on the piece you want to repair.
You can check his inventory if he has the armor peices to get them back
yep exactly.. they are most likely broken in combat and sent directly back into his inventory

Idk... I got many power armors at Sanctuary and like 4 dozens of cores on a closet in one of the houses there.
Played for a few hundred hours and they never got any power armor.
It seems they are not smart enough to look for the cores to make it work.
@@Comradist You could get screwed over twice, if that’s a different settler in the PA than the one that broke it.
Meaning now you gotta check every settlers inventory now

It's kinda like the same with a car
If you take the keys with you it's gonna be way harder for someone to drive your car
Compared to if you leave the keys in the ignition
Which is basically the same except the fusion core is the key
And the power armor is the car
Thats why I take my fusion cores when I leave my power armor
I always take the core out xD. Comforting to see that it has served a purpose. I did it more for my OCD reasons, always goes out and into a drawer where I keep cores.
The armor didn’t go anywhere it’s just broken if you check the suits inventory it’ll still be there just gotta repair it and reequip it

@@karelcruzporto1672 then talk to the npc. The only places it could be are on the power armor frame or in the npc inventory. You can always trade with settlers
It wouldn't be in suits it wpuld be on your players
They can only get into power armor that has a core in it, remove the core and they’ll ignore it even during combat
If used to keep two spare armors with cores in them with my collection so I can switch out faster. My settlement got attacked and the settlers took the extras that had cores and let the ones that didn’t. Now, even if it’s just to sleep or craft/improve something I take the core out of even the armor I’m using when I step out of it to interact with something.

Learnt this the hard way, settler literally came by and stole it, I've been hunting them ever since that day...
they don't steal it when settlement is attacked settlers take everything to fight and this includes power armor but then they don't get out is only problem
Just install a bell and ring it
All settlers will come to you who are in that settlement

With the WRVR mod, Casey Kessler will remind listeners to remove fusion cores because leaving them in the frame is a great way to come back to a missing suit.
Even worse, Carla once got in it and you can‘t tell her to get out of it. She‘s still wearing it
The broken pieces of armor are most likely in the settlers inventory , and you can leave the armor in the settlement just be sure to remove the Fusion Core from the back so they won't hop into it and make sure none of the other settlers are using a Laser Gatling gun because they are just going to use the guns fusion core to power the armor

@@kalash1994 nah I've been playing with FO4 since launch on and off they will only use the armor if they have a Fusion Core or you left it inside the Armor. You are probably confused on the way they use regular ammo like how they can make a single Bullet into infinite ammo when you give em a gun with only one bullet.

@@kalash1994 Companions Are Not Settlers! Smh 🙄 they operate different, here's a example you can give a settler a gun with one bullet and they turn that one bullet in to infinite Ammo but do that same thing with your companion like Piper or the others and they fire the one bullet and switch to their Default weapon after it's spent.
