It would be interesting to know what the products are called and where they can be purchased i.e. shower door?
For me, a toilet and shower space is essential. It amazes me that some van dwellers seem to skimp on it.
ghlyall there is pop up showers alot of them use. N a compound toilet. Alot cheaper too
I know! It's absolute essentially, in my opinion, especially if you're going for more of a "stealth" build rather than a casual build to travel in. A lot of people talk about getting gym memberships to use the showers, but that's a huge annual cost. Paying a little bit more upfront and sacrificing a small bit of space will pay for itself within a couple of years. Especially if your van is your permanent home and you have a job.
Yeah, I hate seeing "clickbait" that claims the ultimate, super-duper, off-grid camper van and all they did was put a bed in it and slap on some solar panels. Not exactly bug-n-out if you have to go into town every time you want a hot meal or have to take a crap.
!00% correct. How people travel without the basic essential of being able to 'S and S', as they say, is beyond me. The same goes for poor truck drivers who are never offered anything like this.
Exactly. My dad drove trucks for 40 years. That's one of the main reasons he drove locally instead of cross-country.
I like that you made the cassette remove from the inside rather than cutting a whole in the side of your van. Very nice build !
I really like that you can cut out a hole for the outside and have it lockable. Nice setup there. Can't wait to see it finished. Thanks Great video!
+charles howard yea its nice, but i will not cut my van for that
(VanTourist) yea well I was just thinking of keeping the mess to a minimum and outside instead of inside, but just my opinion's. No harm intended. Take care.
No harm mate :) It was a hard long choice to make service door inside or outside. With many plus and minus sides. But at the end i choose inside option just for my build. I agree that outside door is stil great and could be best option for most builds
VanTourist I am wondering if you have experienced any smell inside the van? If so how did you manage to overcome this issue?
I like you ideas. Toilet is very important and the shower as well. I do not like composting toilet. Thanks much. Great video.
I had the same toilet in my caravan. Best I've used. A lot of good ideas here. I'm going to watch the other videos and hopefully pick up some good ideas. Thanks for uploading.
Amazing work, i wish I knew how to build stuff from scratch. Creating a space for a toilet/shower would be priority for me before anything else 👌
For me to, I have the proyect to convert my 10×5 trailer into a camper.
Great idea! I never seen a toilet like that it does look kinda complicated for someone like me to put together lol can’t wait to see the finished product
You have a beautiful accent and speak English perfectly!
Thanks you videos help me with my van problems
love your work, love your accent...
subbed
Dirtmaid 😍
Nice video... here's the finished comment "Whoosh" LOL Liked and subbed PURELY for the cool accent. Keep it up. Can't wait to see more.
Just came across your channel when looking at Thetford toilet/shower installation.
Have watched a few more of your videos as well, and have subscribed.
I would also like to congratulate you on your English.
Regards Mark in the UK
Thanks!
Nice one! Well done!
Thanks this is a good video on how to integrate a shower / toilet! Looking forward to the second part, how to make it water proof.
I'd also be interested in how you integrated it with your floor plan.
Most would probably prefer a composting toilet though to use less water.
I second this
I want to do something like this and use the grey water tank just for liquids. Solids would be diverted to a compost bin.
I'm about to buy an airstream that has separate shower and toilet, but I want to build one of these to save space! hopefully your video can help!
You have done well...Looking forward to more....
+Garambaly Omatic thanks! It wilk be more very soon!

Thanks...... I am doing he same thing.... good to see it done first though :-)
great video
+Jonathan Skinner thanks!
awesome video dude, nice one
You are really smart. Even if someone gave me all the equipment to build something like this I won't be able to do it. Great job because you are so meticulous. I just wanted to ask you one question as I am in the planning stage of my caravan.
The toilet is absolutely necessary as much the entrance doorway. But both are used only for less than 10 minutes in a day. Why waste so much space for something which are very necessary but used sparingly. Why not combine the entrance door way and the toilet as a 3 feet by 3 feet area at the door. The only downside is that when someone is using the bath you cannot move out or in. In a country like India where we don't have the infrastructure like a dump station I will be using bucket toilets. The grey water will drain out of the van through the doorway. I will be using the bath only outside city limits, but the bucket toilet can be used anywhere and the faecal matter can be disposed off in a dumpster. Do you foresee any problem in my plan. Thanks for the upload. Cheers!
Great idea!!!
Great video. Where did you purchase the shower pan and the toilet that matches it??
Hi, just looking for ideal for building toilet and shower in campervan. Your video comes up and it is fantastic. Thank you so much! Could you let me know where to buy the shower tray and the toilet? Thanks. Grace
That is brilliant, Will you be putting a drain in the shower tray?
+Wes Clay yes! Ti the grey water tank that i will mount soon
Great job! Thanks
Looks great, I plan to build mine right at the sliding door because I don't plan to use that door much anyway and it provides a good space for keeping dirty clothes.
Do you have a specific reason why you didn't go with a composting toilet?
Going into your van through the shower is also a good idea to keep out dirt and clean up shoes etc
Yup, it allows you to get in the van without bringing dirt into your bedroom. I don't plan to use the sliding door too much anyway because it is really loud on my 2014 Fiat Ducato.
Gotta ask, If I'm correct, this cassette toilet is usually installed with the cassette to the outside of the unit as it is vented that way also. As you have it mounted to the inside, how is the venting handled? Does the cassette 'gas-off' to the interior of your build? Are you happy with the way it ended up performing in this manner?
Nice work.....
Hi VanTourist! Great to follow you and your ideas. I started my van build on a Promaster 2500 1159wb. Like your shower build - however wondering why you didn't go with a composting toilet? Maybe they won't work with the shower combo? Looked on Thetford site and its a challenging site to navigate. While they have composting toilets - one can't find them via search. Any idea on the compost combo? Thanks so much. Your website is inspirational as well. Love your free spirit.
My plan was simple - i use things that i know. I know how they work. When i made my shower/toilet i didnt know much about composting toilet and have no time to make good research about it. So i did what you see. Composting option could be better than mine and i heard many good words about it.
Do you prefer using wood for building your framework? I see people build both with wood or metal, are there benefits to using wood?
pelame, where is possible to find that shower plate? thanks and very good work!!
I want to replicate this setup in a small vintage camper but I cannot find that toilet for sale anywhere
Ddi you silicone around the toilet base? If so how do you get in the gap between toilet and wall? Very tight.
Looks great. Are you going to insulate under shower pan?
+Bucket List Metal Detecting No. I will insulate all edges and joins so no water able to go under shower pan
Where did u get the shower tray at n toilet iam looking for one if them shower trays n toilet
Why would you not put the clean out door to the outside cause I'd hate to be walking out with a container of shit and trip over in the van and it goes everywhere.
Hi I like your video super and learn a lot of it, but how did you get the connection of the water on the thetford c-200 cw changed and on the water system
I feature it on another video about my water system
Your accent is beautiful heaven to me
How do you secure the toilet in? Does it fix to the floor or just free Standing? You're doing a great job.
+Ashley Howell thanks! Suprisingly toilet has no any special securing but i will think about my own solution for that
VanTourist thank you, Im currently converting a mwb sprinter. I received my toilet today. It has 4 holes in the base for fixing.
+Ashley Howell i found out that my toilet actualy has 4 screw holes at the bottom too! For some reason they not mentioned in instruction and almost invisible
Hi Great video thanks for sharing. Could you tell me what type of saw blade your using to cut your tray with. Regards Fred
Just one of the "fine cut wood blade"
Please tell me how I can put the water to flash I have the same too toilet as you but I don’t know how to fill the watery o the flash
Nice video! What kind/type of plywood and tickness are you using?
?
Во чешет по английскому! Молодец завидую, и ругаю себя что в школе не учился... Пересмотрел твой весь контент на русском.
That set up is the SHIT!
Can't find the shower floor to go with the toilet? Who makes it?
Вы как Мутко говорите на английском :)
Any odor in the van with the holding tank ??
Too late now; but cassette can exit outside the van. :)
You'd want to be especially careful to not fumble and drop the cassette, huh?! (It would not be nice to experience a seal failure either for that matter...)
The cassette is removed from inside the van?
That's the whole point. Usually this setup is rotated 180 degrees and the cassette is removed through a special door outside. It actually makes more sense.
OK, I do not get, why you turned the cassette that way. Normally it is turned, so one can access the cassette, through a flap on the outside of the van. This prevent spilling on the inside of the van - and makes it easy to just pull it out and empty it into a drain meant for emptying cassettes.
Easy reason - for not cutting metal side of the van. A bit of bonus stealth is nice too. I manage to not spit anything around the van. Actually it's nothing to spit if you doing it right and cassette function properly
Does the cassette leak a smell in the van? The cassette has a vent that relieves pressure when it builds up from the waste. If the access door is on the outside, I believe this naturally vents outside but if the door is on the inside, does it vent into the van when relieving pressure?
New sub here when do intend to fit the door please
+Susan One and only very sonn! This week i guess
Can you tell me were did you get the shower curtain please looking forward to seeing how you fit it
Good work...but...at 0:18 didn't you say you were building a full size restroom?...sure doesn't look medium sized to me.
well it's "full size" in a category of van restrooms. It has a toilet, shower, mixer when mostly in van conversion people have... nothing. Or some portable toilet under the bed. And shower head they could stick outside the window or back doors to shower.
Fore sure its not "full size" if you compare it to home bathroom
How does it drain
+Veronica Deras-Roiz watch the second part (link in the description) - drain showed there
