- This video is about the complete experience we had on the day trip in #colombia. Is Colombia worth visiting? How shall we describe Colombia… This is definitely a high-energy country that has a lot to offer. It’s diverse, bustling, thrilling, peaceful and delicious. Visiting Bogota, and the town nearby Bogota, Colombia was actually one of the highlights of our first trip to South America. From culture, food, people, scenery, it is mindblowing.

I'm loving your Colombia series guys!! So glad to see you guys having a good time in my home country 🥰. Also like how you're taking about things like drinkable water in Bogota! I've tried to tell my Canadian friends that water in Bogota and other major cities is safe to drink but no one believes me hahaha. Tah, I also love Aji!! It's so delicious.
Thank you so much ! There are so many beautiful places in Colombia that need to be showcased on Media.
i seriously want to pack Aji to wherever we go, i'm so addicted to it !:)

We would love to ! Do you guys have plan to visit Central America somehow this year ?
@@DivertLiving Good question! 🤔 We're still trying to figure things out travel wise for 2020. We're here in SE Asia until early May and don't even have that all planned lol. But it's definitely possible we could be around that part of the world around the middle of the year. Let's chat on DMs 😀- Anna

Thank you so much!
Glad you finally get some positive vibes after all your struggle in Bogota. Having my step family colombian. It's a city I always enjoy going, and next time I will definitely go hike behind the montserrate, I had no idea of the parc !
Its such an incredible place!
Julien Taillez
Actually, the national park is called “Chingaza”, and it’s the closest one to the city.
There is another one to the south that belongs to Bogotá and is the biggest one in the world with that kind of ecosystem (páramo). The name is “Páramo de Sumapaz”.
Those landscapes are stunning!
@@byrlink wow thank you for the input !

If you want to see some of the most beautiful and unique videos about Colombia, check the link below, made mostly in that place (páramo de Sumapaz), by a guy that travels all around the world in a bicycle, but rides it through the wildest places, where there aren’t even trails.

another great video, loved the falls. meanwhile telling us that Ta loves food is something i think we've all figured out by now. lol
The falls are super beautiful!
Looks like you guy's are really enjoying the cultural foods and drinks. Nice video. Falls are cool
The falls are amazing and the food is incredible!
A couple of interesting facts: this velvet-like plant, called "Frailejon" (min 6:17) comes from the spanish word for "catholic monk" which is "fraile", why? because at certain distance, spaniard saw this like monks with cloaks... and these plants grow very slow: it tooks 2,5 years to grow an inch!
Another one: the Tequendama´s fall (min 14:51) was based on and ancient pre-columbian legend, from native tribes: the Muiscas. The legend said that an almighty-god called Bochica (A tall big man, long blond haired and beard and blue-green eyes... like an old viking) came to Bacata´s plain (native old name of Bogota before spaniards) which was a huge swamp and destroy a rock at the edge of the fall to drain off all the water, and "made" the fall...
There's actually a theory that says Bochica came from Scandinavia and that's why they put the name Cundinamarca (Kung Denmark) like the word Denmark= Dinamarca in spanish.
Hi, welcome to Colombia.

Ya it isn't Kansas, but would you swim in the Arkansas river or any local lakes..I know I wouldn't. Safe travels we can't wait to see Colombia!
Depends in the NY You can swim in the rivers and lakes at least upstate
beautiful scenery around Tequendama Fall; if you are lucky you can meet there the only species of bear in Latin America.
I want to be no where near a bear haha
Simply Amazing! Never would I thought of any of this. Good traveling group too. Still wanting the blooper reel! Lol
Hahaha we could make an hour long blooper real of just steve!
Absolutely beautiful...Colombia has so much diversity in landscape, people and food. Are you going to other cities in Colombia...Medellin, Cartagena/Baru/Rosario Islands, Tayrona/Santa Marta, San Andres, Cali or Cocora Valley/Eje Cafetero? Thank you!!!
We plan to visit again in the future but not this trip
necesitas visitar cartagena!!
@@ChrisOnez718 Medellin is an overrated city. As every city, it has good and different things, but nothing surprising. The ridiculously positive perception there is thanks to media, that has economic interests with politicians and rich people there.
But the reality of Medellin and Antioquia its the same of the rest of Colombia. Good infrastructure isn't everything, Medellín has serious problems, just like gang violence, an strong 'narcosociety', high levels of poorness, etc. Bogotá may have serious problems in traffic and city infrastructure, but the quality of life, the homicides, and poorness are way better than Medellín, so, the two cities have to work hard to fix that problems in the next years.
Great video guys ....!
Thank you so much!
Bogotá has the biggest paramo in the world, the Sumapaz regioin that is enormous and really beatiful.
You guys completely miss Medellin and the coffee cities ! That’s the real tourist spot
We showed Bogota and we will be back for Medellin
You paisas can stop pretending that you're the unique touristic place in Colombia? You have to know that every region has its charm. Statistically, the most touristic places in Colombia are Bogotá, Cartagena, and Nariño, so you have to investigate more before say the 'coffee cities' are the real tourist spot, lol.
@@ROCKNROLL947 It's not pretending...
Paisa region is a holy place.
@@johndawhale3197 Lol, you don't know well that region, it has dark secrets. Eje cafetero is good and relatively peaceful, but Antioquia has a lot of problems that they hide to pretend that they live as Europeans, lol, but is totally the opposite.
@@DivertLiving not just bogota, medellin, cali, old tow cartagena, tairona park between santa marta & barranquilla, coffee triangle hot springs-salento town-coffee park. and a lot more. but from now take care from the virus covid-19. and the colombian national dish is bandeja paisa it comes from antioquia state but every state has is local delicius dish.
This is awesome!! I’ve been down to Ecuador, but have yet to check out more of these countries surrounding.
We will have to look into traveling there!
Great video guys - well done. I've never been or seen videos of that area around Monserrate - interesting. We've spent almost all our time on the coast (con la gente buena y chevere). ;-)
Ahhh do you like it there?!
@@DivertLiving My wife is from Barranquilla (carnaval, Shakira, Sofia Vergara). People are great there, the city nothing special. I love Cartagena and have amazing memories from there - along with Havana the best colonial city I have seen.
I love to watch your shooting skills 😍 amazing and good places
Ahh we are just learning :)
Good video guys 👍
Thank you so much! Its a beautiful place!
Thanks for coming to Colombia :) you're welcome whenever you want
I'm stunned! Part of my family lives so close from Monserrate and well I've lived in Bogota all my life and I didn't know that place. Now that I'm studying abroad I can't wait to go back just to go there.
That silent lake almost have a love-shaped, but kinda like a bat-shaped. Beautifully eerie.
Mostly places above 4,500 m have snow, even in equator countries. I guess.
Yes!
Wow esa parte donde estaban se ve hermoso el paisaje 👄😍
You eat sooo good in Colombia. When you are out of the country like I've been and comeback you realize how delicious the bakery is, the soups, the fruits. I'm going in a week and I'm already craving the arepas, and empanadas and the coffeeeeeeeee. Yummy!!! I can see you guys stuffed yourselves there hahahahaha
Soy colombiano y los invito a conocer,el eje cafetero, los Llanos orientales,Medellín,la costa Atlántica y pacífica, excelent
Wow you really capturing the essence of Bogota so well really good filmmaking skills. Btw for indigenous people paramos are the most sacred for them, they're are a very unique landscape and I believe is only found in the Andes mountains nowhere else in the world.

Hey, I like the videos. I usually travel to patagonia and fly fish all summer but I am heading to bogota on the 23rd for this year. Are there fish in those cold streams and lakes? And can you fish for them?
very entertaining your videos! good job guys .....however you only show one side of Bogota... did you visit the north of the city? you missed the best
We did go north :)
so, this is a random question.. but can you explain to me how you blend those two images together in your thumbnail?? I've been trying for 2 hours in photoshop and 7 tutorials later, I still don't understand. After 3 years of making videos that get 100 views, i'm trying to up my thumbnail game, haha. Any tutorial channel you prefer on RUclips?
Just layer them on on top of the other, add an adjustment layer, turn it black and bush over it
Fantastic video! You could have titled your video "Snowing near the Equator - is this real?" or "Did you know it snows near the equator?" or something like that. It grabs people's attention :) Just a suggestion from me. Hope you don't mind.
Of course we dont mind, we love feedback and suggestion from you guys ! Thank you !:D

Come visit medellin bro.
We want to !
Have to go to Pereira and Armenia ! The coffee tourist cities
Really! Is it far from here?
It’s 8 hours driving or 30 mins flying from Bogota . 4 hours from Medellin and Cali driving
Interesting video. In my opinion, the best tourist attraction near Bogota is "laguna de Neusa" too bad you guys didn't go there.
Yes we missed that one! How far is it from Bogota?!
@@DivertLiving It's about 1:30 min north of the city.
There's another world of things to see near Bogotá in the Cundinamarca department, like the Salt mine Cathedral at Zipaquirá, the town of Guatavita and the lake that originated the history of El Dorado where the Muiscas bathed in gold, la Cabaña de Alpina a place where you'll find lots of cheeses and desserts varieties, the church of el Señor de la Piedra in Sopó where an indigenous found found a rock with the image of jesus imprinted on it by a stream of water.
I'm glad that they at least went near to Choachí, because going through all the towns near Bogotá are all completely new experiences.
You should have gone to Medellín 😭
We will be back!
Well, Steve turned his Colombian arepa into a Venezuelan arepa. That's exactly how they eat them there.
Really!?! We didn't know that!
Yep! Instead of making them with cheese inside, they make the arepa and cut them open. That way you put anything you want inside (eggs, cheese, beef, chicken) and it turns into a mini sandwich.
That's awesome !
I hope you travel to Nepal someday!
We would love to!
@@DivertLiving Thanks for making me look how Colombia is!
That is a paved road
Guys, would you as foreigners like to live a rural experience with communities? here in Colombia
Question what is the river polluted by farmers or industrial or sewage cause it seems like it’s coming from the mountains makes no sense 🤷🏽 I’m thinking illegal farmers of the main export if u know what I mean
The river at this point comes down the mountains where the actual city of Bogota is located so it brings pollution from a 8million people city (if you know what I mean)
andresbuitragomoreno I know what u mean lmao 😂
andresbuitragomoreno so all the people are on coke and there poo 💩 is contaminated got it
@@glessyg.4421 the only one contaminated with that stuff is your brain. Have a great rehab
Why is the river so polluted?
That river's point (Tequendema waterfall) runs after going through all Bogota city, this city have more than 8 million people living there. Industries, housing, ect used to use it as a dump, and more there are along the river.
For so many years, it was used to throw human trash. Now it's building PTAR Salitre. A huge mega-construction to make the river clean again. It would be done for this year. So hopefully in the near future, the bad smell or pollution will be history.
david or.du.
Don’t forget about the other megaplant; PTAR Canoas.

Do they have a lot of gluten free options in restaurants?
pretty challenging to find gluten free options - we actually never have seen one
@@DivertLiving I thought everything was made out of corn in South America.
Well, I do not know much about free gluten restaurants.
But Bogota has one of the most variaty of Vegan Restaurants in South America. There's no other place to be Vegeterian or Vegan than Bogotá. And they offer free-gluten options.
However Colombian food is healthier than most of developed countries. And being Vegeterian or Vegan here is quite easy.
You can find free gluten bread in some bakeries, for instance. But just need to do a little research first.
You can have a glance here: You will find a list of most popular free gluten restaurants in Bogotá: www.tripadvisor.co/Restaurants-g294074-zfz10992-Bogota.html
R u sick jimmy?
I just want to remind people to be careful walking in the Colombian countryside and to not stray into unmarked territory. The reason I say that is because there are still mines littered around the country!
Pony malta is root beer.
China Teacher Brand Not root beer at all. Malta is, well, malt. It’s a sweetened malt beverage. I’m sure it has other ingredients but malt is the main one.

WRONG !! Mount Kenya is on the Equater and gets snow ... oh AND has glaciers !!!
In colombia there will be ice, snow and glaciers too, but above 4500m. The park they went is at around 3000m
Ahh ok! Thank you so much for letting us know! I guess we had our facts wrong.

What is wrong?
He said that Colombia is ONE of a FEW countries on the Equator that has snow, not the only one.
