  • Today's video is all about the entrance- to my home! Watch as I take an old door (that I got for free!!) and use it to make over my current door. I love how much more light it lets in now! This was such a fun and quick project that any beginner DIY-er could totally do!

    The door came out great. Cutting out a hole in your front door takes courage. And I released the loudest gasp when the glass fell. I couldn't believe the glass didn't break. Amazing job!

    I stumbled onto your channel one late night and omg I am hooked. I love that it's you actually bringing projects into fruition. I have seen other videos where husbands do all the work and don't explain then the wife does voice overs. I love the way you explain in a way we non diyers can understand.     Oh that is a lucky find! I've been keeping my eyes peeled but every time I see a door with a window it's the kind that is inherently inset. Fingers crossed I luck out and can put together a very pretty set up like you did

    Wow! I did a little scream when the glass fell, I was sure it was broken. Glad for you that it was still intact. You truly inspire me, I'm still trying to get acquainted with my drill.

      Haha! Go for it! I’ve never had a project go 100% like I thought it would. I usually learn the most when they don’t go as planned. BUT I was freaking out when I thought I broke the glass. 🤣

      Oh the magic of editing. I figured it would be pretty boring watching me chop away at tile for hours! I just said to my husband yesterday “I am NEVER demoing tile again!”

    My heart sank when the window fell. I for sure thought it was broken into a million pieces. Phew! That was close. lol!

      Haha I was sure it was broken too. Before I even looked I was already trying to figure out what I could cover the hole with while I ordered a new window. I was shocked it was intact.

    Hi! I just recently found your channel and oh my gosh! You're amazing! I've already purchased Ikea Billy bookcases and am going to attempt to do my den similar to what you did. But now I want to do my front door. Can you tell me where you got the blind for the door?

      Thank you! I actually found the woven shade for the door at a local habitat for humanity building store. I know they have very similar items on Amazon but I always try to save money wherever I can.

    Amazing transformation, one and all. Please consider installing deadbolt locks. Earlier this year a tweaker bypassed simple locks like yours and many others. Sadly an acquaintance lost her life after hours of torture.

    9:10 I came for the knowledge of how to install a larger window in a door .. but I’m staying cause it seems your just as klutzy as me and have wayyyy better luck cause that glass would have undoubtedly broke on me. 🤣And your “oh shit” face was the cutest 😘 #NewFan #GirlPower 👊🏻😘

      I actually found it at a thrift store but I think it came from lowes originally. There are lots of options for woven window shades on Amazon as well.

    Hey Kelsey! I have been following you and have been inspired by you since I saw your first video. I know this is so random but I finally got a 3/4 lite door installed (too chicken to do it myself) but I want to add a bamboo blind for privacy. I am hoping you can give me some advice -the new door is fiberglass. Is it possible to drill into this door to hang a bamboo shade like you did? Thanks so much!

    Hello! I just discovered your channel and wow... everything is SO good. Curious if the only way this works is with a window from an exterior door? Maybe a dumb question...but would any kind of window work?

      I don’t think a regular window would work quite as easily. You would have to add your own trim around each side. And make sure it’s the right thickness for the door.

    We're getting a new front door but I don't people being able to peek into our home through the windows so we're getting s door with etched glass so that way no one can peek through but we still have the light we need to come in

    You are fearless! The door job looked anything but easy. Great job. Admittedly I haven’t watched all your videos yet. But wasn’t your living room white carpet with tile at the door entry in the beginning of this video or did I fall asleep and wake up. Now it’s wood look but your are rubbing that wood door all over that new looking floor with no protection. What is the floor made of please. Great door over panel. You are amazing young lady

      You are totally right. At the beginning of the video there is carpet with tile at the door. Then I remove the tile and show a little footage of the floors being installed. You must have fallen asleep! Haha
      The floors are water resistant laminate. Allen + Roth in the color scarlet oak.

      Haha! Still can’t believe the window didn’t break. My door is made of fiberglass- which is WAY easier to cut through than solid wood. The only tools you really need for this project are a jig saw and drill.

    I assumed you’d have to put some sort of leak proof something in the seal of window.
    This is too easy. My door has no windows. I NEED to do this!

      It really is so easy. If the fit isn’t super tight (and even if it is) you can apply a little caulk and it will seal it from water and/or air leaking in/out.

      The fireplace is linked in the video description. I love it! I sit in front of it on an ottoman almost every day! I will say it doesn’t put out tons of heat- which I actually like because I live in Texas. Lol

    Do you sand the doors before painting them? Or just paint it as it is??

      I didn’t sand or prime because the door had been painted before. I just cleaned it really well and then painted.

    You can put tape on the outside of the door to hold the window in place if your doing it by yourself and I don't know how that didn't brake lol

    Next time take the door down and lay it flat with the outside window frame and glass inserted in the cutout. Then add the inside frame.
