Hi Julianna, thanks for stopping by. Main thing is that overlapping topics is okay but you don't want to overlap specific content. Meaning - you can mention in 1-2 sentences about a summer acting program you did in your main essay but then dedicate a supplement to that summer program...so it would be a lot of new content there. If you can make it your own somehow...connect it to your life, your values then I would consider it but a direct Here's NYU's motto then jump into why you love the school won't separate you from the pack which is what you want. If you can't make it unique then I would start with something specific about you.

Hi Angela, do you have 2 essays to write? It's been a couple years since I have worked on a nursing transfer...if so, you want to divide your content...you should do a why us based off of the nursing research. They have a great magazine, and professors you can name, classes you can discuss as to why they are of specific interest to you...also research and community opportunities. do u know if the admissions committee defer from a school to another at NYU? For instance, if someone's applying to STERN will their application be reviewed by different people from someone's whose applying to TISCH?
This is a complicated and GREAT question...it's kind of no but with a caveat. How I understand it and let me just say that the absolute best people to speak on this matter is the admissions office but my two cents. The colleges and departments offer their enrollment number goals based on space and finance. Then there are kind of liaisons for each major program that works or advises for the admissions dept...so the programs have someone informed in the room so to speak. For like Tisch and Steinhardt then yes their creative supplements or tryouts will be 'graded' by the specific program and then that gets factored into the admissions...from what I understand it is the same main admissions that offers acceptance for undergrad.Hope that helps.

There is a General course selection website which is Albert - m.albert.nyu.edu/app/catalog/classSearch but you may not have access. The easiest way to find all the info you ask for is to go to the major/ dept website

Have you checked out the computer science website? They have a really robust detailed site with their activities, courses, opportunities. That might be able to get you started. Also think about what personal material you will put about yourself. Maybe you start with a personal memory of you tinkering with a computer or getting your first computer. Also think about beyond comp science what NYU oops are you thinking about? Can you connect to your personal/ cultural background. Good luck!

That's a great program!! You have two pieces of writing you have to submit if I am not mistaken - Statement of Academic Purpose: In a concisely written statement, please describe your past and present work as it relates to your intended field of study, your educational objectives, and your career goals. In addition, please include your intellectual and professional reasons for choosing your field of study and why your studies/research can best be done at the Graduate School of Arts and Science at NYU. The statement should not exceed two double-spaced pages.
Hi, Im working on my Why NYU? essay right now and I'm applying to the dance BFA program at Tisch. I've been working on it for a while, but I feel like I'm stuck and I don't know how to include all of the right stuff. Do you have any tips for how I can approach the essay/set it up?
Well first thing I would ask if what's your main common app essay about? Because if you start that one with an image/ or story of you dancing or waiting in the wings then I would not use that here...but if you do not then maybe you can use that here. Also, think about your aspirations with dance...yes you want to go for dance, but do you want to go pro, one day open a school, combine dance and movement with something else ...also then make sure you have specific Tisch and NYU related info throughout...good luck!
another thing you can think of is starting with an anecdote of doing another sport altogether, how weight lifting was great for your turn out or how learning to dance flamenco helped you with...another idea would be to narrate the dramatic scene from your favorite ballet and get into its historical significance or how others have reimagined the dance and how you have reimagined your role within dance in a similar way.

Hi! Not at all. You structure can be completely different. I have a few why us not only for NYU that you can see and they tend to be different. Main thing is the balance between research info from their institution and your personal info so you show how you are an idea candidate. Good luck. And second, there are no short cuts...you have to do the research...the other NYU video I have lays out what I suggest you look for and then of course...you must make it unique to you...bring in something different about you...so you need to answer why NYU but you should also answer why you and NYU. good luck!

You can still do a research based response...talk about a course of interest, connect an experience you have had in a student club or part time work to a program at the school etc. good luck!
