My name is Ewan Cunningham, I'm from Falkirk, Scotland. I'm an 18 year old, self taught musician. I started playing drums at the age of 4 and I'm now a multi-instrumentalist playing drums, guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals. I've been teaching myself to mix, record, film, edit and produce music since I was 10 years old and this is my passion.
This is a drum cover of "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd from their 1979 album "The Wall".

What can I say? This is obviously one of the most requested songs and rightly so! A few days ago I filmed a few more full covers in the Dobbie Hall and they went really well so look forward to those in the next month or so. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this cover :-)

Well it probably goes without saying that this is my favourite Pink Floyd song of all time and in your cover you kept such tight control and I have to imagine that it must feel hard to rein it in particularly during the last solo, the outro. Can you tell me what mics you are using? Looked like an sm57 on the snare but i dont know about the tom mics and i was curious if you were using a room mic as well, thanks!
Tom mics are sure PG58'S, kick is a Sure PG52 and the two overheads I use are usually Rode M3's

As anyone learning the drums we have probably watched countless drum videos on youtube. Every now and then you come accross someone who can inspire you to keep practicing not only because they are a good musican and play well, but have really connected to the music they are covering just as we all want too. This is the one we've been waiting for! The drums seem very easy on this song, but they are so classy and they must be played at a very consistent tempo.. One wrong move and the whole mood is ruined. You MASTERED this one man. Congrats to you, and I can't wait to see more.. Preferably, Astronomy Domine, but don't feel rushed.
I love how i could see you really anticipating that lovely legend of a solo at the end. I’m a drummer myself too, and whenever I play to this song, I can’t help but just play every note (as much as possible) with my kit, mimicking Gilmour’s guitar

Niiiice! This ones all about "leaving spaces" and allowing the music to breathe. Such a fun one to play as a drummer, and of course you did a beautiful job with this as always Ewan. Hey Ewan, I do some drums, I love Pink Floyd and I find your covers awesome! Keep it up!
But I have a question about your toms. I noticed your toms (and most of the toms I hear on other channels) make a really nice, "round" sound, with very little echo, while as for me, I have a pretty strong and annoying echo. Do you know why is it so? I guess it's because of the room I'm playing in, or because of my shitty low-end toms, or because you use drum mics, but I'm not sure at all.
Great cover Ewan, do the acoustic panels make much of a difference to the sound? Thinking about getting some, not really sure whether they are worth it.
Hey Jim, they make a subtle difference, nothing big. We only have them on one wall. They just dampen the sound and take away some of the natural reverb :) I'd say they're definitely worth it considering we only paid abut £40 for all of them.
Hey Ewan, just wondering how you have those album covers stuck on your wall or what is holding them there. I'm thinking of designing my new Bedroom music style to display my record collection. Thanks and keep going with those covers! They'll take you a long way. Cheers, Tim.

A few little glitches here and there, (e.g a bit too happy with the kick pedal in the second chorus and one of the fills in the first solo goes up the tom toms, not down), but your faithful cymbal bashing in the last part of the second solo more than made up for it!

Fantastic, performance Ewan if there was 1 thing i could mark you down for would be that cymbal strike at 5 mins 11 secs, that cymbal do-sent do it for me :( towards the end you hit it and its not too bad :)

My father played this when i was a child im now 43 yrs old and my dad passed away last year just a few weeks after my 41st birthday this song is the song i plan on learning to play on the drum set that i am right now purchasing. I hope i can do it justice like you have in this video.
