CalypsoRaz just picked up a new 2018 premium crosstrek today. Went in to buy a new wrangler at the dealer across the street but never made it there. I'm not disappointed.
T Kasper check out the new Ascent Subaru is coming out with. My wife already jokes that the ascent will be our new car. We have the 18 Crosstrek same as in this video.
I have this vehicle in the Premium trim and I love it. I love the handling, I love the fuel economy, I love the spaciousness and I love Apple Carplay (though it does cut out randomly sometimes), but overall I'm very pleased with it. Great review!
I'm a Subaru service advisor and I just purchased the 18 crosstrek... awesome car, the Apple car play has a glitch sometimes but there's an update for it, once you update, you don't have to worry about it again
Yes they notched-out the armrest for two cupholders, but check out the non-US XV model. Kept a full size armrest and have cupholders side-by-side w/ electronic ebrake. MUCH preferred. That said I have an '18 Crosstrek Limited and love it.
Yeah, I bought mine last month. I can validate everything you're saying. Worth every penny!!! Actually, the limited edition has many of the same features as the Volvo a connection of mine just purchased.
I recently bought a 2018 Crosstrek and I like it. It serves it's purpose. I wanted a vehicle that is AWD and will get about 30 mpg. I knew I wasn't going to break any records for speed and that's fine. That's what my RAM 1500 with the HEMI is for. The one thing I am not happy with is the Starlink entertainment system. I know it got an upgrade for 2018 but it's still slow and glichy. The U Connect works way better. Subaru has to do a better job with voice recognition, bluetooth connection, and the way it indexes mp3. An example is if you wanted to play a full album from a thumbdrive and commanded the Starlink system to play it, Starlink will not play the album in track order like it should, but will play the songs in alphabetical order. Since Subaru Technical Support was no help at all, I found a solution on the web and that was to create playlists for the albums using Microsoft Media Player. Starlink didn't recognize playlists from I-Tunes. That's not good when you got over 800 albums! And as I said before, the voice recognition although alright, could be a little better. Final complaint is just recently the Starlink system did not recognize the command to make a cellphone call. The system kept asking me "what type of music I wanted it to play", are you kidding me? It took a complete shutdown of my car for 5 minutes to solve the issue. Some might say that you should not expect everything out of a $30000 vehicle, but there are other manufacturers that are doing a better job in the entertainment field. Subaru markets it's product to a young tech savvy crowd and with that, they should cross there "t's" and dot their "i's" on everything
I test drove a 2018 outlook CVT premium yesterday. It was a very nice vehicle. It had plenty of power. The CVT works and feels good. I thought the steering had a weird feel to it.
You look so happy with your new car!!! Great review Hector!! I still love my Mazda - but I think Subaru has come a long way with their vehicles. Love the seats in the Crosstrek. Wish I had Apple Car Play / Android Auto in my CX-5. Hurry up Mazda!!!
I test drove one with eye sight, it was the most frustrating thing I have ever experienced. Go around a pot hole crossing the fog line, it violently threw be back into my lane and over a pothole large enough to lose a car in... The braking is terrible, and on narrower rode kept braking when I was in the left lane and trying to pass a car in the right lane, and forget about country curvy roads, every sharp curve it seemed to think I was leaving my lane when the lines curved and did all sorts of messed up things that could end up quite dangerous when I was trying to navigate curves.
The one thing about Subaru is that they don't offer much rebates on their cars and they are kinda pricey. I went to check one out with a friend and even at a $30,000+ price tag some still had cloths seats, no adaptive CC, and some other stuff. You have to pay a high price to get a decent price. I got a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT for $31,000 and that came with a V6 engine, 4WD, leather seats, and seating for 7 people....and a lot more. I say Mitsubishi is the best kept secret out there...Subaru is pretty cool with AWD standard on all their cars but they are pretty over priced I think..
I love the car we have the same color limited you tested we just don't have the premium sound or navigation. The phone connect works great. Our car was a hard to find car most all limited versions came with premium audio and navigation. We saved some money without the 2 features. The power is nice considering it does not have much power. I also love that it feels like a car but doesn't sit on the ground. Just sitting in the premium version of this car with cloth interior I thought cloth was very comfortable maybe better than leather. But leather is dead sexy in this car. Do not get an older version of this car they hold value and priced comparable to brand new versions. A factor that makes this car a good buy is Consumer reports gave it very high ratings. And forbs put the Crosstrek at #1 car for saftey and resale value.
Sierra Delta we have a 2012 countryman all4 s with a lift and off-road features like a roof rack off-road lights bigger tires. This was done by the previous owner. Then we had to replace a few parts like the turbo. When we replaced parts we put in performance upgrades and mods. The mini was nice but we were sick and tired of the gas mileage and the needed repairs. Ours is sitting needing repairs as we speak.
I was planning to do something similar with my Countryman. But after research on how increasing ride height degrades fuel economy, I decided not to. I’m throughly impressed that the Crosstrek has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, AWD, and gets 29 mpg combined. It will definitely be my next car when I turn 18.
The interior is such an improvement, something that I could enjoy. However, the new exterior does not appeal to me. The designs of the headlights/taillights look less rugged than before... and the main reason I’d consider buying this car is because of it’s ruggedness.
ekim andersom with the safety systems and awd system in the Subaru and the better resale value. , it put it far above the Mitsubishi in my opinion. But do what feels best for you. Have a great day.
I traded in my 2013 Honda CRV for this car and loving it. But I do miss the extra power of the silky smooth 2.4 CRV and the extra luggage space. But enjoying all the safety features and tech on the XV. An equivalent CRV would cost a a lot more plus the fuel economy on the XV is great. I wish Subaru would consider the 1.6 turbo engine it uses in the Levorg for the XV but I guess cost had something to do with the decision.
Just bought a 2018 base 6 speed a week ago. Only thing I don't like is the week stereo system and how the 6 speed is a bit jerky If you don't get the clutch and has position just right. And it's got no balls but maybe it's because I'm coming out of a 2010 mustang gt.
rougebeaster from what I heard and read, the engine is gonna be better, and feel more powerful after like 5000 to 6500 miles, something like that, mine will be here in August this year :) congrats on your car, have fun with it :)
GREAT review but at only six feet tall I still need more than one inch of clearance between the top of my head and the roof interior inside. That is the only thing that is keeping me from buying this vehicle.
Informative. I really like this car and have been actually considering it. I don't need a high performance vehicle so it was a good thing you displayed the takeoff acceleration. Would you say that it's quick enough to get out of harms way when necessary?? Thanks!
Between the CVT and that engine sound...umm no. No thanks. Shame because its otherwise a nice car. Props to Subaru for finally paying attention to their interiors.
This is good small size SUV and has really good features as you described. Like it. But please don't compare it with VOLVO XC90. Don't take me wrong not a Volvo fan but always compare it with the same class not the higher class vehicle. This video looks like a commercial ad.
I had a 2013 with the 5 speed manual and it was gutless. No bottom end torque. Once put a couple of passengers and some stuff in it was almost unbearable.
KP11520 Everyone is switching to CVT. It’s the future. In 10-15 years, it’ll be impossible to find an automatic car without it. Even Bugatti is planning to switch to a CVT(with paddle shifters) by 2020.
Yeah, wait till you notice the CVT shudder/vibration and square tire feel when slowing for a stop. Subaru cant fix it and will make you out to be crazy saying its normal....Happy honeymoon for now.
Funny how i decided to watch this AFTER i bought mine.
CalypsoRaz just picked up a new 2018 premium crosstrek today. Went in to buy a new wrangler at the dealer across the street but never made it there. I'm not disappointed.
Same here lol
How do you like it so far? Been thinking about getting one.
Me 8
Me too, but I'd watched tons of other reviews. Picked up my 2019 with all the safety gadgets! Drives great, love it, one week in.
Test drove one a couple of weeks ago and it had plenty of pickup.
Martin O'Connor 😂😂
Very thorough review. This SUV is on the top of my list for 2019. Thanks.
T Kasper check out the new Ascent Subaru is coming out with. My wife already jokes that the ascent will be our new car. We have the 18 Crosstrek same as in this video.
I am watching this video after buying my crosstrek, this video makes for great validation for my decision :D
" I love it, this? I love it, stitching? I LOVE IT ... another thing I love. " ..
I have this vehicle in the Premium trim and I love it. I love the handling, I love the fuel economy, I love the spaciousness and I love Apple Carplay (though it does cut out randomly sometimes), but overall I'm very pleased with it. Great review!

Hmmmmm whats the recommended fix for the CVT shudder/vibration issues... Oh yes "can not duplicate customers concern at this time" Never again Subaru

I have Orange 2018 crosstrek and I Love it ♥️

I don't think many people use thumbdrives for their music these days.
My second crosstrek and I absolutely love it.
There needs to be an XT version with the WRX running gear. As-is, it’s a no-go.
Yuri B i agree that they need to beef up this car

Awesome video!! And loved your humor! Thanks!

Very Good car test, you look and check what is important in the car, and you speak clearly :)
Mikołaj Jóźwiak thank You!

Actually since it was for my wife, I ended up buying it and consider my words eaten. Once I got use to it, I love the automation features.
Subaru does a good job on their interiors.

I test drove one didn’t like it at all but I bought a 2018 forester premium instead and love it.
This wasn’t a review. It’s an infomercial.

Awesome review. Makes me want to trade in my 2013 Mini Countryman lol.
Sierra Delta lol! It's a great car

If they'd give this car some decent horsepower, something in the 190-220 range, it would be awesome.
The interior is such an improvement, something that I could enjoy. However, the new exterior does not appeal to me. The designs of the headlights/taillights look less rugged than before... and the main reason I’d consider buying this car is because of it’s ruggedness.
Even though it looks softer, it's actually got better ground clearance. The look grows on you after a while too. You will be happy if you buy it.
ekim andersom with the safety systems and awd system in the Subaru and the better resale value. , it put it far above the Mitsubishi in my opinion. But do what feels best for you. Have a great day.
ekim andersom the speed isn't very good. You could always wait for Subaru forester xt update.
looks like a grandma car. have fun having hot chicks laugh in your face on the road
Your Pal lol what are you 12?
Good Job! my son has 2016 model, he loves it!
I traded in my 2013 Honda CRV for this car and loving it. But I do miss the extra power of the silky smooth 2.4 CRV and the extra luggage space. Z123SA yeah it's a great car! The CRV does have a great engine
You'd trade your crv for this crap? Why? You've must've been brain washed real good.
I've got the same car.just the seats are a different color.great car.
Just bought a 2018 base 6 speed a week ago. Only thing I don't like is the week stereo system and how the 6 speed is a bit jerky If you don't get the clutch and has position just right. And it's got no balls but maybe it's because I'm coming out of a 2010 mustang gt.

Subaru does offer a Rockford Fosgate speaker and amp upgrade for the base Impreza audio, it probably will work on the Crosstrek. It's about $500.
I think this will be my new car...I especially like the orange color, I don't say that often btw
Thanks for the video. I'm hopefully going to buy one tomorrow!
Good review except you didn't give us a walk around outside view of it.
Brutha Dnubian thank you for your advice :)
Does this have bluetooth?
GREAT review but at only six feet tall I still need more than one inch of clearance between the top of my head and the roof interior inside. That is the only thing that is keeping me from buying this vehicle.
Nice review. I also like the NATO strap on your watch.
Informative. I really like this car and have been actually considering it. I don't need a high performance vehicle so it was a good thing you displayed the takeoff acceleration. Would you say that it's quick enough to get out of harms way when necessary?? Thanks!
Ralph Benitez Hey!!! Yes it has enough power to get around traffic when need be :)
don't cut in front of a speeding vehicle or huge trailer truck why would you worry?
Great review!
When checking car i skipped subaru i thought it was more expensive, but really nice. this is my to go cross that i will get if i get one. :)
This whip is sick!
You think in 5 years of Subaru sales Charles could afford a new front tooth :)
My Impreza is 14 years old and no leaking of anything -- head gasket or other wise.
Toof...
Nice I was just on their website pricing a vehicle!
Takes around 700miles for the break in and then the motor wakes up
Alright Charles I see you!
Between the CVT and that engine sound...umm no. No thanks. Shame because its otherwise a nice car. Props to Subaru for finally paying attention to their interiors.
Your review was veré very very very very very very and really really really really really really
We have the exacty car, exact colour only rhd. Absolutely love it. I'd like it turbo, but it's for the wife anyway. lol
I love my crosstrek!!
People don't care about fun, we are too busy to think of fun. We want a good old school reliable car.
This is good small size SUV and has really good features as you described. Like it. But please don't compare it with VOLVO XC90. Don't take me wrong not a Volvo fan but always compare it with the same class not the higher class vehicle. This video looks like a commercial ad.
Now I can blame going too fast on the cars technology. Haha seems like a great car!
Anything you don’t like about it?
how do i get that speed limit thingy on my left corner??
I had a 2013 with the 5 speed manual and it was gutless. No bottom end torque. Once put a couple of passengers and some stuff in it was almost unbearable.
Way to go!!! Wahoo!!
It would be perfect if it had a turbo. Nice car though.
This interior reminds me of a whiter version of my 2015 WRX Limited
+Subscriber lol yeah, I can see that!
Are these good for snow conditions?
Definitely! It's a beast in the snow. It's the official brand vehicle of Colorado.
Bro..steering wheel is nicer than wrx and sti? They're pretty much the same just flat bottom on the other 2 and those are actually better. Lol
You didn't even show the trunk space
Dad bod at its finest. I'm ten pounds away, brother.
Make a boosted version subaru!
Hey I have that shirt !
109 missed phonecalls? dude... ditch your phone already.
I have the same car.
Stop with the thumbs up.
Tooth.
afr126 leave the man alone
yeah you bully
Who cares I came here for the car review
Hahahaah
👍🏽
no temperature gauge :/
Nice car..... CVT transmission completely RUINS it. I'd never buy it because of that. Deal BREAKER. CX-5 is the best choice.
KP11520 I was the same way, CVT’s have come a long way in the last couple years. Much more reliable than the early CVT’s.
Subarus CVT is hands down the best in the industry right now
KP11520 Everyone is switching to CVT.
Buy the manual then.
spacious because youre short
Fix that tooth.
32,000 is a lot. Too much for a subaru piece of junk
Hero Hour jealous?
The salesmen should really get a fake tooth implanted.
Reus well he’s putting himself out there so you can buy a car and he can afford one or maybe 10.
Reus That's irrelevant. You have to to be lame. The concern is the car douche bag
You look at his mouth huh? Gay?
talk too much
wrx steering wheel is better it's the same wheel but with a flat bottom. lol
tooths
lol, no HP. next
Ski Fall plenty of pick up. I own one
Lol not the purpose of the car. Dumbfuck
you must be gay
GTFO Troll. Don't come in here with you're 12 year old brain.
you too are gay? no wonder you like this car. no hot chicks would be caught in a cheap azz car you drive lol
