Blackpink have an amazing amount of potential but I really wished that YG would let the girls show there skills more or even let them produce music. I also think the 2 year hiatus affected them a lot but I’m glad the album was still successful but I do hope that in the future the girls can show there great amount of potential…
I don't think the hiatus affected them in any negative way, to be honest, their popularity had grown more and their impact internationally had gain more attention towards K-pop.
I for one am happy to stan a group that is not constantly overworked and putting out shitty music all the time just for the sake of it, just because everyone else is constantly releasing new music. Kpop is such a rat race and the companies only care about milking their artists for more profit. I hate when people say YG wasted BP's potential or whatever, I feel like it's become just a meme thing to say that everyone repeats for the sake of views, it's so annoying. They look very happy and well-rested to me as compared to other GGs and if it's what works best for them then that's good. Western musicians put out music at the same rhythm as BP because they don't overwork themselves to meet a schedule, yet no one complains. If they really wanted so bad to release new music all the time I'm sure Teddy would let them.
@@fatenumberinfinity you talk as if YG was a wholesome company who isnt making music bcs they care about their idols when they just do it to save money bcs its cheaper to have the members be modela/influencers instead of spending money on writing and producimg music lol The girls are rich but they arent idols anymore, they have become influencers that sometimes release music 💀 and its ok to stan influencers tbh, but pretending its a group at this point is sad
I was at their born pink concert, and really enjoyed it. But I can't see myself going to another BP concert, because I would feel like it would just be the same concert. Because their discography is so small, they go through most of their songs in a single concert. So I would be afraid that going to another one of their concerts, would just feel like the same thing, with maybe one or two different songs. I would not have the same fear with a group that has a much larger discography, since they would probably play their biggest 5 songs in most concerts, but then the rest could change with each concert. This would entice me to go see their concerts more than once.
I kinda feel the same. At the concert I went to in December, they didn't even perform boombayah tho. Like, how is it not a part of the setlist when it's a popular song?
This goes to show you haven't been at much concert. Most concert the artist perform the best selling songs, the fan love songs and one song of their own choice. That's what concert is about. Do you think every set a comedian goes to they perform a different joke, no they do not especially if it's a world tour. They need to use the same material until they create a new tour. I've been to Nicky, Beyonce and Rihanna tour and they use the same material from the past and the present. It's not that big of a deal.
"Quality over quantity" is the biggest lie blinks were made to believe. It's constantly the same formula, same concept, same predictable line distribution throughout the song, etc. There's no innovation and increase in quality that would justify such long hiatuses
@@mikkaill93 There are people your grandpa's age who like their music, if its not you taste fine but just because you dont like it doesnt mean its bullshit. People here at my end who are first time kpop listeners find some other cutesey gg songs bullshit as well but a lot of you regard them them as quality. That should only tell you people have different taste.
When they debuted, they immediately skyrocketed into fame. They won awards within months compared to groups who had been around for years. Their concept was dark/girl crush, and their first comeback showed their pink/cutesy side. But over the years, they are given less and less work compared to any group in the industry. Some blinks will say "I'd rather them take time to rest and put out quality music, than be overworked putting out mediocre songs like your favs".... Yes, they are not overworked and that's a good thing. But they don't seem to really try either.. YG is who I'm talking about. They've gotten so used to milking the fans for money, that they know no matter what BP puts out, they're gonna spend their life's savings to support them. That's brainwashing and gaslighting. They made blinks be so used to the idea, that they don't have any expectations. Music taste is an opinion, and some people do like their recent songs. But most have realized it's just another lazy move by YG to make money. You get less songs with the same formula, easy/little choreography, barely any promotion, maybe a tour out of nowhere, and it's back to modeling and going to fashion shows. They've stopped caring about the idol life and that is clear. They all just want the tour to be done with. But *some* blinks will try to hold onto them forever, ignoring the truth in front of them. Degrading other groups to boost BP. That's just cowardly and ignorant.
Be that as it may, I think YG going away from the unhealthy idol life is actually very good for them. That way, they are also getting the financial perks of being an idol, while also having time to do other things, not just 'idoling'. The idols are very well paid compared to other agencies, hence most of the richest idols are YG, and this is happening without them being overworked and literally having to fight to be relevant in an already super competitive industry. Releasing more songs will increase the risk of falling into irrelevance, as many groups are already starting to experience this. The fact that after 7 years of little activity they have become the biggest girl group in the world speaks for itself and shows that whateber YG is doing, simply works. And I think it's not that the fans got bored (their huge and permanent increase in popularity would simply not make sense if this was the case), it's more the fact that fans got used to Blackpink working this way. We know when they have a comeback, it will be good and it will top the charts everywhere even more than before, exactly like born pink did compared to the album, which already had achievements never before seen by a Kpop girl group.
Mamamoo does quality over quantity as well but they, at least, enjoy giving their fans a good concert and performance. BP has soured for me and I was a big fan of theirs when they first debut. The image YG gave BP can only go so far before backlash begins towards the group.
That backlash has been going on for years and they still come back have the most viewed, sales and listening app streams among girl if not all groups. Be serious their fandom is too big so outsiders opinions hardly effect their success
@@djvillan YES plus all of them are successful in solos and have written their own music, did some of their own choreos, own their personal YT channels, etc etc I can't stop talking about them I'm sorry lol. but yeah coming from a small company and barely 2 years before BP they have done so much and are respected alot in Korea proves alot.
@@olgag9901 RBW doesn't promote internationally plus MMM doesn't get as much big/luxurious brand collaborations :(. I say RBW because after Wheein left the company she finally got noticed, had her first win, was promoted really well and got multiple collabs in just last year. BUT MMM HAS A VERY LOYAL FANBASE so even if they aren't as big internationally they are well respected in SK plus fandom isn't toxic(like very small percentage of toxic fans).

The 2 year hiatus really changed everything. The girls already had less songs and those 2 years without any comeback resulted in no songs but we got Chaelisa's solos. They actually have so much inside the studio but YG's strategy about quantity over quantity has resulted in their less songs. I really miss the old Blackpink so much.

It’s really not. It’s called scarcity buisiness. And it works very very very well. YG promoted those girls incredibly well making them what they are today. I understand it can be frustrating but id rather wait longer for great songs than be bombarded with meh tracks just to please the demanding fans.
@veewooshi9882 this only works with artists that have more than 10 songs on each album. Western artists usually promote this way, and tour for a more than a year. This doesn't work with kpop bc most kpop groups never release enough songs on an album.
@@veewooshi9882 We are tired of the scarcity busssines. How many times yg dissapointed Blink with bare minimum paid contents but it's not good for fan that's why some fan aren't fan anymore. Not a blink, but I don't even consider BP as artists or idols... They remind me of Bella Porche. An influencer that occasionally makes music. As for YG following the Western method for releasing music... that's bullshit. Western artists do have long breaks between album releases, but every album is an actual album (12+ songs), not a mini ep to be passed off as an album. People are forgetting why or how they got enamored with Blackpink. For me, the songs were Boombayah and DDD. Oh and Lisa's professional dancing was an attribute to how hardworking they were. Everything after that is just sad... Don't even get me started on concert fancams... Jeez
Honestly BP was my first k-pop group because they were easy to be recognized + just 4 members + catchy beat songs. I was enjoying them for a month but then I got bored of those few songs (I did not liked most of their b sides) Then I got into another group (can't mention it ofcourse (: ). They have 300+ songs and i have heard almost 250 songs of them and every week I still find new ones lol 😂 But this doesn't means I hate bp now...I just sort of like them now. It's just that I don't feel connected to them. Also, i don't like them prioritising modelling over singing :/
Jisoo solo is release on 31 March I'm very happy and excited for her solo songs I really want to hear her pretty voice and also want her beautiful , elegant visual 😍😘💜🎶💖
I am sure they will give jisoo some bad lyrics and setup.... And this will being hate to jisoo..... And yg will get away with that and jisoo will get hate for no reason
Does anyone also get the feeling that YG has no idea what they're doing or doesn't care? Like idol groups are normally planned very thouroughly or at least for the pre-debut phase and a few years after. That also seemed to be the case for BP but these days? I have not once seen a group with so little songs but still so many leaks or demos that never got used. The second "full" album only had 8 songs, with one of them being a game collab promo and a few others leaked beforehand. Also their concept is not really that diverse, they stick to making callbacks to old songs which is nice for fans but with so little comebacks they can never fully explore their two sides. Plus YG doesn't seem to listen at all to the massive fandom. I mean they'll probably be fine but I'm actually more worried for BaeMon and Blacklabel (solo) artists like SOMI. They have a banger debut, everyone loves that they get this massive attention for about a year, and then? Nothing. I'm not sure about what BP will do, but I really hope SOMI will have a comeback this year. Because these two developments will really show how YG values their artists and how the artists want to be treated. And I'm not hopeful since Jisoo solo, new gg debut with probably one comeback and BP contract discussion are more than YG does in like three years🤣
i feel like they're sort of like SM in that respect. like they create and debut a group, the group gains recognition, but they didn't plan ahead this much so they just toss them to the side and try to find their next group in hopes that they can keep debuting new groups to ride off of their initial success. i also think that YG's obsession with mentioning himself and him being their CEO speaks volumes about the company and their true intentions. for example, we only ever hear about Bang PD (or their new CEO, i forget his name) when the artists under Big Hit mention him or he does a yearly presentation/interview, it shows that he respects his artists and wants them to have their own name and not be attached to him all the time. whereas all the other big 3 companies force their CEO's name into whatever they can just so they can be known as 'the one who made ___' or 'the creator of the next BTS' without realizing that it not only hurts your image but the idol's image as well. and i'm sure it doesn't feel great for the artists under those labels who probably feel interchangeable while the CEO takes all the credit and boasts about how they could do it with anyone in any group
@skzlegendofkpop a mid comeback every 2 years that sounds the exact same as the last one?? wow, i'd hate to see how YG treats the groups that don't make them as much money...
@skzlegendofkpop I see this argument all the time but someone said YG doesn't even handle his finances that well. Also, look at the respective rookie groups from the other big companies. They can certainly bring the money, and BaeMon is technically a self-runner or how you say. The only dilemma YG is in that they debuted them too late, now they either have to hold on to BP at least a year or BaeMon will look like 2N1E 2.0. Although that didn't hinder BP from gaining massive popularity so maybe if BP disbands BaeMon fills the gap left behind perfectly. Oh and obviously the members of BP don't just vanish into thin air, they are massive global influencers now and I'm almost certain that some of them will stay with YG or the Blacklabel, if just as soloists. I just don't see the point in being a massive kpop group without a cb. Because sorry, at some point I'm done relistening their 2 hour discography. In 2016 what they did was new and enough but now even small companies have reasonable success. I really wonder how BP managed to stay relevant, and I don't wanna be mean I just don't get it.
@bt13 I'm really interested in what goes down bts, like just the planning aspect of it all. Because it seems like aespa for example is really tied into this SMCU stuff and the others too, but I'm certain that was not the plan for let's say RV. So you wanna be consistent but you also have to be flexible enough to keep up with the new trends. I honestly think concept-wise they do fine but if you compare that to other groups that are really planned it's a joke. I honestly think a group is never fully planned from the beginning, a bit like you said. I can best explain it for Dreamcatcher: they had a few years of comebacks tied together with one story, and then they switched it up to stay new and relevant. And now they alternate between special one-time cb and three-part story cb. What I mean by that: they probably said we're gonna do all cb under this concept for a few years and let's just see where it gets us. But they never felt lost or smth, so it all comes down to the person with the artistic vision behind it. The only other group I can think of right now is Bill!ie, all of this stuff was planned a long time ago. But I don't think they will go through with this forever. It will seem like that but the stories are new. So in a way they will keep doing it🤔Sorry if this makes no sense but I just thought of N.MIXX as the opposite and their story films right now seem like they were pulled out of thin air. Like they were an afterthought and not plan of the original debut plans. But obviously there's another point that maybe the big companies forget or deliberately plan? Girl groups normally don't last as long, so naturally smaller groups often don't take a risk at a story since they will often only make it 2 years at best. But also maybe the big companies hope that the hype at the end of the 7 years has died down so much that they can disband the group without much drama. Groups like Twice renewing with all members is absolutely not the norm. Anyway I talked for way too long and it probably was confusing but I just wanted to add how annoying Mr. YG is😂I'm angry at how he manages his groups and then he pulled this stunt with the last evaluation. I'm far away from stanning any YG group and I'm still tired with his shenanigans😭when I saw him in one of those trailers it was like all my aversion manifested in a person and I didn't like that
@@moongirl8807 no no, i totally understand what u mean and i think the best example of that is Gfriend. they had such an interesting and in-depth storyline but everything was cut short due to their disbandment, and the company didn't even give the story some sort of closure. every time i go back and watch their MVs i get so annoyed bc i know i'm just gonna walk away from it with the same feeling of "oh right, these questions i have will never be answered". obviously their company had planned for them to be together for a very long time if they were willing to be so mysterious and precise with the storyline, and the girls have since said that they sure as hell didn't want to disband... so what actually happened bts? i think that storylines in groups are becoming too normal and every group feels the need to have some sort of crazy underlying story in every comeback and it can really ruin the quality of both the music and the MVs. like with SM groups and the fact that they keep on mentioning Kwangya in every song... like why do they have to do that? it ruins the momentum of the song every time i hear that stupid word. or if there's a really fun and bright MV then at the end everything goes dark and someone starts reciting Edgar Allen Poe it's like, how did we get here and WHY are we here? but, like you sort of mentioned, i do have to give credit to all those companies for at least trying something, no matter how half-assed some of them may seem. whereas Mr. YG just couldn't give less of a fck abt what's going on with his groups. i think it's becoming niche to have music that isn't any part of a storyline but i also think YG music is so repetitive and annoying that it doesn't work. for example, BTS has a wide variety of songs and each MV perfectly suits that song (plus they also had storyline stuff earlier on). you never get the same sound with them. but BP and Treasure are like... okay i heard this song last comeback, but why are you jumping around and smiling rather than being all dark and sassy like you were last comeback? (idk if that makes any sense but i think i got my point across... i suck at words lmao)
For a group that has been together for 6-7 years, barley has any songs, yet still manage to become the biggest kpop girl group in the world is the most fascinating thing to me. Blackpink had a comeback a few months ago & just finished their world tour. Jisoo is having a solo & they hinted at releasing a new song too. I don’t think Blackpink is done or reached their full potential. Idk for sure but it seems they might renew their contracts & keep going. They have so much more to show us & I’m proud of them. Yg is the blame for all of their hiatus’s.
Every year is an opportunity to put a stamp on world music. Like it or not, they're going to age out having wasted time being lazy (compared to other groups).
We are living in the world of New Jeans, IVE and STAYC now. Those groups get a lot of buzz and are extremely productive. Even Lesserafim has managed to cover so much ground without much talent or charisma. Sorry, but BP needs proper management that supports them artistically- not just aim to milk them through their modeling contracts. The girls are full of talent and presence. But WHERE IS THE WORK? What is the next step? Another Chanel campaign? How is that Kpop?
I honestly hope they don't renew. Not because I want them to disband, of course I don't want them to disband, but because I feel bad that they have to put up with YG's incompetence.
@@alantesagree wholeheartedly with your statement but you lost me at Le Sserafim not having much talent or charisma. I respect your opinion tho! I wish Blackpink (or management) would put as much effort into their music career as they do into their fashion careers. ATP they just seem like influencers to me who have a side gig as k-pop idols every now and then.
Its kinda sad, all those years and they only have few songs. I mean YG is known for releasing only quality music but other companies can release more songs with full albums but still high quality too. I don’t think this “exclusiveness” that they are trying to do is not working anymore. They need to fully maximized them.
If they Renew the contract this time I want them to have control over the activities at least a little bit so that they can release more songs and have some power in their hands as they are no more rookies
As a blink since their debut era I was an hardcore blink, streamed their songs multiple times and also recommend my non K-pop friends their songs too. But ever since they started engaging in the brand ambassador stuff like going to parties, attending events and stuff I kinda felt like they became more of a model/ Instagram influencer. When YG announced their comeback I was beyond excited like imagine waiting for 2 years for a comeback. But when they released their album I was kind of disappointed, but still listened to their songs thinking I was weird but these songs never worked for me plus they barely had any comeback schedule. Barely having 2-3 performances in Inkigayo and nothing else. The only thing they are invested is the ambassador stuff, also I attended their concert and it wasn't worth for the money. My mom shouted at me saying this the concert you wanted to see for more than 3 years? Pure wastage of the money. Hoping whenever they comeback [God knows when that will happen] they come out with more songs. Cus waiting for 2 years just for 6-7 songs is nothing but disappointment. [Also, For those punks who are going comment something unnecessary then please keep in mind that this is what I feel and not you! So, no idiot needs to comment something which might cause fanwars between the blinks.]
Although I don't follow them I can understand why they are so popular: they are pretty, nice tone of voice, catchy songs... If the girls received what they really deserve from their company as singers they could be an even bigger group, they have a lot of potential as a group It's a shame the strategy that YG has taken: long hiatus, albums with few songs.
YG's management and their marketing strategy is the reason why I don't and won't stan their groups. I like BlackPink's music but the fact that it comes out about once every two years makes me nothing more than a casual listener. The same thing with SOMI and the same will surely happen with BABYMONSTER. Oh, and I'm completely indifferent to their participation in fashion events, but YG seems more comfortable making money from their idol-products in this way than releasing new music or content.
Honestly at this point I’m at the acceptance phase. I loved them at debut, little by little the hype died down. Now they’re just artists that exist that can maybe appear once a year or two to make an ear worm that lasts about a week. Then I forget about them.
@@givemeahammerandillfinisht6407 aren’t people allowed to have an opinion now? you do realize everyone music taste changes and everyone’s music taste is different. wake up and grow up i wasn’t even hating on them
Big reason why they are still relevant to this day is because of the FANS. Thats it. The 2 years of hiatus hits them hard. BPs discography wise? just meh. Stuck on the same formula of music. Always girl crush concept. Songs that feels like they are still moving on from a broken relationship. There's no growth in music.
U r definitely right about YG intentionally giving less songs to blackpink. Given the popularity and reach of bp it's an obvious fact that comeback or not, they r gonna slay everytime. But at the same time we can't take that as an excuse to ignore their minimal discography. Listening to 100s of songs is definitely something not a lot of fans do but nobody actually cares about that. People use shuffle feature anyways and go with whatever song is played. So if u for example have just 30 or 40 songs, believe me u can listen all of them in just few hours. But what after then. U r not gonna listen them again will u. So having 100 songs will atleast save ur whole day.
I wish they would produce their own music and took part in their discographies, YG should give them their opportunities instead of holding them back of their talents, they're really wasting their talents, I feel sorry for them
I’m a wh*re for background vocals / harmonies and main vocalists going off towards the end of their songs & I hate that they never explore that side of the girls (only in BYW which wasn’t touched by Teddy). their songs are very simple compared to what groups release, it’s always the same formula it’s like they’re really scared of trying new concepts or going extremely experimental, they’d definitely still sell well if that’s what they’re afraid of. I always know what to expect from them or their solos, there’s never details on their songs and it would be great if they paid more attention to that instead of just adding loud beats and repetitive words.
Did you just say background vocals ... Girl I die for that but when I listen to blackpink background vocals and harmonies there is nothing like tbh musically blackpink songs lack a lot no hate but compare to bts they lack a lot nah they are not even close and it's sad for me that's it.
I don't really understand people saying that YG should let them write or produce. Most people just don't have the talent or will to write or produce a hit song, and it's okay. If you think about it, wouldn't it be actually positive for the girls' image if they were composers or writers for their songs? Just look at how praised Soyeon from IDLE is. Now the reason why YG doesn't let them do it is maybe... because they can't? And it's okay. I personally can't imagine Jisoo composing a song, or Lisa writing good lyrics (both are talented in many other ways though, Lisa for example is an excellent performer). Now I've heard that Rosé actually took part in her solo songs' writing and composing, which does not surprise me much. I think that she would be better off as a writer/composer like Lee Hi. She seems to really enjoy doing that stuff, more than she enjoys what she does now (?). Back to what we were talking about, if you look at all the BlackPink solos released, Rosé's is actually the least famous one. Jennie's solo got very famous back then in the kpop community, and Lisa's Money and Lalisa got internationally famous (yet both were arguably trash, be it the lyrics, the concept, or the producing). Rosé's solo songs, co written and co composed by her, were the most qualitative ones, yet they weren't as famous, because they weren't as mainstream. The point is that the reason BP don't get to write or produce might be because they aren't capable of producing those mainstream stuff everyone will like, or maybe they just don't have any interest on doing so. So I don't think it's right to push it too much on them.
Im sure they actually do that. Rosé mentioned how much time she and the others spend in the studio and how many things she discovers. In their documentation it was seen that they chose their own stage outfits. They also mentioned in order to do something they want, they have to give up precious time, as in sleep. YG is really holding them back. They rarely make a proper announcement about Blackpink. YG should really stop this

Rosé is right about quality instead of quantity, but it's just that girl you don't even give quality at all, everything is repetitive so if you like a song and you make copies of it, you will always like it and not because it is of quality, accept it 🙃
They are…. Hylt + Kill this love and etc… the Same vibes, And not to mention the organization of how they are sung because I already know that by heart because I've been following these girls since 2016 🤡, I'm not speaking here as a hater but because I know, first Jennie or Lisa, then Rose and Jiso... then some shared rap follows, then this time Jisoo the parts that rosé did at the beginning and finally rose again and then the occasional ratatata ratatata or dundurudundudun 😂.

Although I agreed most of these..But I think they give us EVERYTHING and not the bare minimum in every comeback. Yes I can agree to that Pink Venom but all their other comebacks are hits.
Blackpink is like the Michael Bay films of the music industry. Even if it’s bad people are still gonna watch it simply because it has explosions and it’s aesthetically pleasing. But if you take a deep dive into the lyrics, past the explosions and the beats/soundtrack it’s a whole lot of the same thing. They’re songs are pretty much all saying the same things just a different sound, I’m not saying that’s a bad thing I’m saying that I’d just prefer something new and listening to this last album just proves YG isn’t going to experiment with new sounds so I’d rather just find other to listen to.
Honestly, Blackpink is the group that got me into K-pop. I discovered them and was fascinated, I fell in live right away. Now, in 2023, I'm unfortunately very disinterested in them. No one can convince me the wait for Born Pink was worth it. 8 tracks, only 6 of them unreleased material and 1 of them being a solo by Rosé (who has already debuted as a solo artist, so there's no reason for her solo song to be on a Blacklink comeback instead of a Rosé comeback). They'll always have a special place in my heart, but even if they do renew with YG, I don't think I can be excited by new projects. It seems like we're actively punished for liking them. Their company treats their fans like puppets. They only take and take and hardly ever give back.
I actually really loved them and cried when they collab with Selena since I am also a Selenator. But because of their absence for a long time, I shifted to other groups. I love them still but not that much compared to how I loved them before.
Wasted potential? There was NOTHING wasted about Blackpink. They don't need comeback after comeback to see their talents. Can kpop stans STOP being so greedy and needy please
I am one of those who doesn't mind about of how 'small' BP discography is because I don't listen to them alone. I really agree with what the latter portion of the video says that generally people would listen to an average of 10 songs per artist. I personally like variety in my playlist. I think people who are frustrated with BP discography are not their for the music but for their 'idol' consumption.
I think the long hiatus and their constantly recycled concepts will be their downfall. They had more diversity at first but now it's just the same sound. I left the Fandom because of it
"No you can't take me down" unfortanetly YG took it down... 😂. They are the definition of wasted talent. They should have hired models if that's what they wanted. They haven't even grown them out of their "i'm a strong girl" aesthetic era with lyrics as empty as their choruses. As if it's your last was their last good song, everything else has been the same rehashed 2012 vibe bad bitch song.
if you listen to the songs they have simular layouts(i forgot the actual word💀) simular lyrics and simular vibes. the lyrics especially gets old because a lot of them are reused or all have the same meaning which a lot of the time is just talking about their riches. yes all the songs do have different beats but if you look into it deeper then the sound everything IS simular. and dont take this as hate because all of it is facts. and let me add that yes i understand they have specific roles within the group when it comes to their songs so they will get certain parts of the song naturally, but yg or teddy who ever has not mixed it up. the closest thing we got to that was Jisso little rap part in pretty savage . other than that its normally all the same😐
Bruh concerts are the same as it was when they toured last time. I’m so sad man. There are 3 new sets or something and some songs I’ve listened to a thousands of times. I love them but common. Even western artists have better song lists.
Have blackpink reached their full potential? No, they have so much more to give, they are full of talents, the current tour has been most successful for them, BP will continue to make the most of every opportnity granted to them regardless of which company they are with. They are not limited to music, they can do many other things and they will, acting, modeling etc. Their star shines brightly, BP are always a big success no matter what they do
I hope blackpink don't renew their contract with the company. They deserve better. Getting a comeback just once a year??? Or less. Their just being wasted at yg. Blackpink are very successful, and yet yg just gives them 1 comeback per year? YG could've made so much more money if they gave blackpink more comebacks.

@Keepyaheadup🤍🖤 More like over hated, over inferior feeling these fans feel cause they favs can't keep up. Seriously don't pay attention to a group you don't like lol
But BP isn't western artist. The Western music market is more flexible and allows artists to take long breaks between albums. K-POP is more competitive. In K-pop you need to release music regularly to stay relevant and keep momentum and gain fans. Fans get bored quickly these days if they don't get enough content from their fav artists. Many Blinks leave the fandom and BP because of lack of comebacks...
You can't compare BP to western artists. A western artist releases albums with actually 12+ songs and then has 1 year of promotional tours. The biggest difference is that the discography changes with each album. With the case of BP it's literally the same song lyrics packaged with different tunes, heavily inspired by western artists (copied as is sometimes).
Regardless of quantity BlackPink feels like a designer scam. Their entire last album sounded like a commercial for their designer brands. So sorry Rosé, I'm not buying the "Quality" over quantity argument. And sure they may be tour based but Twice tickets sell at half the price so I feel ripped off there too. The show was great but my bank account hurts a lot longer for such small quantities. Not to mention the 30-50% mark up of merchandise. Every year BP feels more and more like their scamming Blinks and getting fuller and fuller of themselves. They don't have the same fan gratitude as other bands. I find it hard to continue to call myself a blink when I constantly feel like YG and BlackPink are slapping it's fan base in the face and stomping their toes.
I mean the whole scamming thing is a reach tho if your company told you just focus on pushing out commercial rather than music how would you feel, we honestly don’t know how the girls feel just look at Jennie her charming attitude slowly started to disappear because of the so call fans bullying her and her lazy dancing. The contract end is near and i honestly just want LISA to not renew her contract in light of the consistent mistreatment she has faced by the company and the mismanagement of her solo debut, including the hidden sales YG still hasn't revealed of LALISA. Her solo era sabotage was so apparent that she herself mentioned it several times in the fansign about not being allowed to perform MONEY or do promotions and even in the instagram post. She knew she was robbed of a million opportunities which even other members were getting during their solo activities. I will support her forever but i hope she will choose her own happiness this time because she deserves so much more and has endless potential in terms of career.

blackpink's potential is so wasted that their own potential is laughable. especially with the fact that the newer girl groups have way more potential and is used in a way where the girl groups have put out at least 1 studio album in 6 months or so, more or less. even if you compare the potential of older girl groups like 2ne1 and girls generation, for instance, how many albums, despite the size and what album type they are, have put out at least 5 albums. like after girls generation's ownership of run devil run, original by kesha before she sold the song to sm, believe it or not, they had hit songs in those albums. even with 2ne1. like with ugly, fire, and lonely, as some of the most popular tracks in k-pop history. with the newer girl groups, like newjeans, newjeans is like the 2ne1 of today's generation and newjeans just put out a new album a little over 2 months ago as of 2023. newjeans is still working on a new album and some new dance choreo. with blackpink, it's been 7 years of them. that's 7 years of wasted potential from them. yg is not really doing much and is just playing the wait game for the new girl group he's gonna put together. i liked blackpink back in 2017 with songs like boombayah and as if it's your last, but then didn't like them shortly after. sure, quality matters, but you can work on the quality of the song while working with the quantity of songs blackpink could have put out within the 7 years. this is just pure disappointment. 7 years of disappointment. 7 years of wasted potential.

Remember that they are signed to two labels- YGE in Korea and Interscope (Universal Music Group) internationally for those markets that YGE doesn’t operate in directly. So Blackpink has to serve two masters, which would slow down decision making in relation to releases and tours etc. Their world tour itineraries are not dissimilar to those of major western touring artists and are of a similar scale. A two year album- tour turnaround for an international group is not unusual as a world tour can take over twelve months to complete and then the rest period, writing and recording will usually be another six months with a further six months for post production, marketing and distribution. Blackpink are being managed like an international act and is on a similar schedule. The issue is that in the years prior to the first album, fans had to wait a year for a single or EP. In part I think that this is due to Blackpink blowing up as a touring group very early in their career which probably led to cancellation or delays of releases or recording sessions due to the company instead satisfying demand for concerts. They were out there touring when other K-Pop girl groups were building their discographies. Then there is the issue of Covid and how 2020-21 was supposed to be a touring year - the current tour was supposed to be their third world tour and not their second. This would have thrown the entire production schedule out which is why the online concert and movie was released as there would have been months of tour preparation that was put in only for the tour to be cancelled due to Covid restrictions. I suspect that Born Pink was recorded in the same period that originally planned as it would have been scheduled in as a post world tour session, but there ended being an extended period of downtime as they had to somehow fill in the gaps caused by the cancellation of the tour. All that said YGE has a production regime that looks a bit strange from the outside as it is not only Blackpink that has a slow release schedule but also their other artists with CL leaving YGE after FOUR YEARS of no releases (excepting the 2NE1 posthumous farewell song), Bom not getting any more releases before her contract expiring and Dara only getting MC/variety show work until her contract expired and other soloists like Lee Hi leaving citing the lack of comebacks and Somi on the Blacklabel having what looks like a two year wait for her next comeback also. I suspect the foregone income from Blackpink’s cancelled tour has negatively impacted on YGE’s cashflow which has delayed other artists releases also, plus the effective end of YGE’s biggest selling artist Bigbang means that it’s now on Blackpink to bring in the $$$. Plus YGE’s obsession with making every comeback the biggest thing ever is probably straining their cashflow too and making them risk-adverse as a comeback bombing could damage the company significantly. Would Blackpink have more comebacks under another label- yes they would, but at the cost of losing Teddy as their executive producer, who is a critical part of their success.
Okay so one thing I'm sure that if blackpink doesn't renew their contract with YG then think that blackpink will never comeback as a group and if they join black lebel then you won't even get one mini album in two years
So my question is, will Blackpink continue or is the company moving forward with Baby Monster. Truly sad, but I believe they are talented and big enough to carry on their own.
Their potential was not wasted. For YG, it was never about the music, but more about making money off of their image. I'm sure it cost more money to create music than to have BP to promote some brand or model for a brand.
I swear haters are always going to have the same thing to say about BLACKPINK, they always say “they don’t have that many songs” among other things, in order to insult them and us as fans
Now, I don't think it should be a problem that they don't release albums evey year or twice a year like other kpop groups do because that's being overworked, (but that's a different topic) But I do think they should have more songs in the album because no offense, but 8 songs that's crazy lol Plus, when it comes to solo albums they legit only allow them to release 2 songs that's insanity and stupid.
7:58 omg now that i think about it, this is actually true like i dont even listen 10 songs daily but when i put on a bp song i listen to almost every one
Even if they don't have a lot of Comebacks they'll earn much more than other groups. If you ask someone about KPOP there a probably two things the Person will say: "BTS" and "Blackpink". Their name ist probably the Best for Brand Deals. From their point of View everything is fine.
It's ridiculous that fans expect everything from the agency and put all the blame on the agency, are the members doing nothing? They don't write the songs, they're bad at dancing, the concerts were awful.
not sure about the writing songs part, girls have mentioned it several times about them writing their own lyrics and they do so as well. song writing is actually company's fault fr. but yeah i do think that blackpink was lacking that it factor for their performance in 2022, it was disappointing ven thouh we had an album. just hope that they get back on good trac and release songs with the old concept that they used to follow

They aren't a group. They're just models. They weren't meant to debut. If 2ne1 didn't have issues then 2ne1 would still be around and no blackpink. YG ent had to make up for the disbandment of their only girl group. I said what I said.
Lost interest in Blackpink and their recent comeback was underwhelming. They also have not grown creatively and their stage performance has gotten worse.
YG is just pulling a 2NE1. Very few albums, doing solos (except for Minzy), and lots of tours (all just like Blackpink is doing now). That's probably what's gonna happen to the new group, too. It's really sad how YG does this.

Essentially, that’s YG’s strategy. Build up a lot of hype for the group at the beginning, which they did. They were monster rookies and actually threw kpop into an era of girl crush. Once they had built up a dedicated fan base, they began starving their fans in order to build up hype for comebacks among fans while making it easier for casual listeners to keep up. Basically YG has mastered the balance of starving and feeding to keep people engaged, because ultimately it worked. Whenever BP have a comeback, it’s a big once in a blue moon event and everyone’s talking about it. Blinks are talking about it by hyping it tf up. Kpop fans are talking about it because they’re tired of YG giving them the same formula after long waits, and the general public is talking about it cause their songs are very western friendly, and they’re overall the easiest kpop group for non kpop fans to get into since most of them are fluent in English and they’re fairly small (I’ve noticed westerners tend to be put off by big groups in kpop like Seventeen or NCT). I personally just hate to see it cause I really liked BP in their first couple of years, but it’s hard to keep interest in a group that doesn’t evolve or do anything different. But of course YG is a company and will always put profits over creativity. Hope that helps you understand it better though
blackpink is a frustrating case because these girls are obviously very talented, they have the capability and the charisma but the music they put out is more often than not just very boring to me. very bland, uninspiring, formulaic, it feels like they’re doing the same song in different fonts over and over again. there’s a few good songs scattered throughout their discography but it feels like there’s just a lot of untapped potential, it feels like they’re being boxed into the same music style and concepts instead or really branching out and exploring with really different styles of music, different song structures. and edm/hip-hop/trap influences aren’t inherently bad but i wish they would do something more interesting and fresh and exciting with it. and i want them to do it because i feel like they can pull it off. i want something different, give me blackpink on an alien planet doing hyperpop/pc music. give me pop rock, old shool r&b anything but the same tired recycled t*ddy formula beats😭😭

@@parkpark6976 No? You do not know it? Then I'll explain it to you. When you call a person a dog, it is with the intention that they are under other people. You strip them of your humanity. And your short comment that I bark like a dog to the songs and thus it implies that I am below you and not worth beeing human. Since you think I can only bark.

This would entice me to go see their concerts more than once.
when i attended their concert last 2018, they repeated songs during the encore lol
I couldn’t agree more!
I kinda feel the same. At the concert I went to in December, they didn't even perform boombayah tho. Like, how is it not a part of the setlist when it's a popular song?
I think if there is a concert They have to release a new album before have the concert.
This goes to show you haven't been at much concert.
Most concert the artist perform the best selling songs, the fan love songs and one song of their own choice.
That's what concert is about.

Be serious their fandom is too big so outsiders opinions hardly effect their success

i feel the hiatus really hurt their reputation..2 years for a kinda mid album
The 2 year hiatus really changed everything. The girls already had less songs and those 2 years without any comeback resulted in no songs but we got Chaelisa's solos. They actually have so much inside the studio but YG's strategy about quantity over quantity has resulted in their less songs. I really miss the old Blackpink so much.

Jeez

Tru
Im sure they actually do that. Rosé mentioned how much time she and the others spend in the studio and how many things she discovers. In their documentation it was seen that they chose their own stage outfits. They also mentioned in order to do something they want, they have to give up precious time, as in sleep.

This is a classic kpop formula that has nothing to do with music but everything to do with commerce: Minimum costs, maximum profit.
As if it's your last was their last good song, everything else has been the same rehashed 2012 vibe bad bitch song.
lovesick girls and hylt and d4 are same ???
if you listen to the songs they have simular layouts(i forgot the actual word💀) simular lyrics and simular vibes. the lyrics especially gets old because a lot of them are reused or all have the same meaning which a lot of the time is just talking about their riches. yes all the songs do have different beats but if you look into it deeper then the sound everything IS simular. and dont take this as hate because all of it is facts. and let me add that yes i understand they have specific roles within the group when it comes to their songs so they will get certain parts of the song naturally, but yg or teddy who ever has not mixed it up. the closest thing we got to that was Jisso little rap part in pretty savage . other than that its normally all the same😐
@@bearythepleb pretty sure lovesick girls was about being alone, ktl about toxic love , hylt about fame and riches, d4 about women empowerment

I’m so tired of people trying to throw pity parties for blackpink
I'm so tired of pity fans of smaller groups trying to attack Bp because of their huge fame. It's embarrassing.
@Keepyaheadup🤍🖤 More like over hated, over inferior feeling these fans feel cause they favs can't keep up. Seriously don't pay attention to a group you don't like lol
This is inline with lots of western artists, they don’t pop out albums every 6 months, some you are waiting 6 years for! 😂
Why is # of songs an issue? I mean, there are other groups who release multiple songs per album but how much of those are actually listened to?😅
Regardless of quantity BlackPink feels like a designer scam.
I love those girls so much... I hate what YG have done with them. They could give us much more . . .
Be that as it may, I think YG going away from the unhealthy idol life is actually very good for them. That way, they are also getting the financial perks of being an idol, while also having time to do other things, not just 'idoling'. YG idols are very well paid compared to other agencies, hence most of the richest idols are YG, and this is happening without them being overworked and literally having to fight to be relevant in an already super competitive industry. Releasing more songs will increase the risk of falling into irrelevance, as many groups are already starting to experience this. The fact that after 7 years of little activity they have become the biggest girl group in the world speaks for itself and shows that whatever YG is doing, simply works.
They needed more training tbh they mess up so much also they need more produers/writers.
To be nominated for new artists of the year at the Grammys you need to have 30 or less songs, which they have as a group
Wonder why their label has never not foward them for new artist of the year?!

blackpink's potential is so wasted that their own potential is laughable. especially with the fact that the newer girl groups have way more potential and is used in a way where the girl groups have put out at least 1 studio album in 6 months or so, more or less. even if you compare the potential of older girl groups like 2ne1 and girls generation, for instance, how many albums, despite the size and what album type they are, have put out at least 5 albums. like after girls generation's ownership of run devil run, original by kesha before she sold the song to sm, believe it or not, they had hit songs in those albums. even with 2ne1. like with ugly, fire, and lonely, as some of the most popular tracks in k-pop history. with the newer girl groups, like newjeans, newjeans is like the 2ne1 of today's generation and newjeans just put out a new album a little over 2 months ago as of 2023. newjeans is still working on a new album and some new dance choreo. with blackpink, it's been 7 years of them. that's 7 years of wasted potential from them. yg is not really doing much and is just playing the wait game for the new girl group he's gonna put together. i liked blackpink back in 2017 with songs like boombayah and as if it's your last, but then didn't like them shortly after. sure, quality matters, but you can work on the quality of the song while working with the quantity of songs blackpink could have put out within the 7 years. this is just pure disappointment. 7 years of disappointment. 7 years of wasted potential.
They were my first ever kgroup and they brought me to kpop but no music and comeback i left they i started to stan them in 2021 and started unstaning them in 2022 i hope yg gives them more songs

Idk why they always say “quality over quantity” when they literally do not make “high quality” music
Blackpink, plz release “Touchdown”!
Now, I don't think it should be a problem that they don't release albums evey year or twice a year like other kpop groups do because that's being overworked, (but that's a different topic)
But I do think they should have more songs in the album because no offense, but 8 songs that's crazy lol
Plus, when it comes to solo albums they legit only allow them to release 2 songs that's insanity and stupid.
7:58 omg now that i think about it, this is actually true like i dont even listen 10 songs daily but when i put on a bp song i listen to almost every one

Can someone tell me the most viable reason why YG does not release albums or songs as frequent as expected?
@@abbyc9924 Thank you for an elaborate response. I appreciate it.
blackpink is a frustrating case because these girls are obviously very talented, they have the capability and the charisma but the music they put out is more often than not just very boring to me. very bland, uninspiring, formulaic, it feels like they’re doing the same song in different fonts over and over again. there’s a few good songs scattered throughout their discography but it feels like there’s just a lot of untapped potential, it feels like they’re being boxed into the same music style and concepts instead or really branching out and exploring with really different styles of music, different song structures. and edm/hip-hop/trap influences aren’t inherently bad but i wish they would do something more interesting and fresh and exciting with it. and i want them to do it because i feel like they can pull it off. i want something different, give me blackpink on an alien planet doing hyperpop/pc music. give me pop rock, old shool r&b anything but the same tired recycled t*ddy formula beats😭😭
