Haha I noticed you didn't ask "Why do you think that happens?" at the end - I guess the physics principles behind this are way beyond what an elementary/middle school kid could understand!
+Rizwan Awan (TheOnlyRizzy) yeah they are actually AP Levels or whatever, even took me minutes to Relate , it's related to Polaraztion of Light and Optical Isomerism in organic Compounds, basically by Glucose and Fructose, which make up the sugar...
***** I think you're right. Refraction does slow down light differently for different wavelengths. The sugar is simply changing the refractive index to amplify that effect. The first polarizer sends all photons in phase with one another, and they reach the other side with a different phase as a function of wavelength, which the second polarizer is able to filter.
The speed of light is constant... only the wavelengths and frequencies vary. Different wavelengths produce different types of electromagnetic radiation. Varying wavelengths in the visible range produce the different colors that we see.
The dude puts on safety glasses in the beginning of the video, but later you can see in the microwave reflection that he isn't wearing them. It's a joke to put safety glasses on when you're making sugar water and playing with polarizing filters.
+February we always encourage practicing safe science, especially for kids, even if it is something as simple as making sugar water. Safety is the furthest thing from being a joke. In reference to what you saw in the reflection, you caught me, I wasn't wearing safety glasses. As an adult, that was my choice. What we want to make sure of is that kids are always safe, often times they don't know any better. By teaching them to have adult supervision and wear safety glasses for any experiment they do, they will learn to understand that science can sometimes be dangerous, especially the way some people choose to demonstrate (for example: putting dry ice and water in a sealed bottle and hitting it with a golf club). That is why we show safety glasses for every video.
Sick Science! Yeah, if kids are involved then I understand. I thought that your experiments are meant for everybody, not just younger audience. You would make your kid wear safety glasses even if you don't. Thanks for the response.
+February obviously is for kids. Thats why is always says adult permission on the thing you will need. Not every project are for kids like making a chemical reaction that is dangeroues
Где взять эти пластины, которые меняют интенсивность прозрачности при повороте относительно друг друга? Я такие только в дисплее калькуляторов видел. Но калькулятор при этом не выживает)

If this is SICK Science, why isn't he sick? He shouldn't be making videos if he's sick since he probably doesn't feel well. #Logicaljokebecauseitsscience
I miss these videos :/ They're a lot of fun to watch!
Yep nostalgia
I agree
Well he 's back
Well he 's back
Its almost been a year since your last upload, where'd you goooooo? I miss watching your longer episodes!
I WANT THIS CHANNEL TO BE ALIVE AGAIN!!!!!
Same ;(
Same
wow this music brings back the good old days
Haha I noticed you didn't ask "Why do you think that happens?" at the end - I guess the physics principles behind this are way beyond what an elementary/middle school kid could understand!
+Rizwan Awan (TheOnlyRizzy) ;)
+Sick Science! so why is that?

+Connor Verlekar no need to be clever to show off
Ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuusssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nobody caaarrreeeeessssss
that song never gets old
we need a 10 hours version of it
ya for sure
+DeezPvP agreed oml
Ikr
Where did this channel go?
😓😓
You should make a video about how to make juice from powder.
Kool aid.
Love and cheers from
India 🇮🇳
But seriously, how does this work? Does the sugar water change light polarization differently for different wavelengths?
***** I think you're right. Refraction does slow down light differently for different wavelengths. The sugar is simply changing the refractive index to amplify that effect. The first polarizer sends all photons in phase with one another, and they reach the other side with a different phase as a function of wavelength, which the second polarizer is able to filter.
+ninjacowhero you're the future, kid.
+Guilherme C. Google up Optical isomerism in Organic Compounds

Amanda P The speed of light is not constant. The solution is a crystal liquid mix. Light does not travel at c all the time.
0:37 finally see his face
Lol see it in 100th episode

you guys are awesome
because SCIENCE!!!!!

your videos are GREAT.
why you are not uploading more ?
Sooooo.... You guys going to make more videos or....?
+DanielPranks It's been 5 months already why haven't they been active?!
My science teacher told the class about Sick Science, someone raised their hand and said "Uh, actually I prefer healthy science, thank you!"
0:32 should say "drink it"
That's awesome. :)
Instructions not clear. Got diabetes.
Where can I get those polarized sheets? Do you sell a kit for this experiment?
awesome
wow!
How did the water mixed with sugar turn gold when it's boiling?
really want to know how that works!!
It's funny how everyone's obsessed over his face he was in the Ellen show go look at it there
It's RAINBOW
@sick science where are you???
can anyone tell me why and the how color changes happen ? its looks certainly cool ! :)
if I used x-ray instead of the polarizing filters..will it work??
Season 9 Episode 24.
You could've made 2 more to complete the season
Sooo... Are you planning to come back and make more videos, or what's going on? :)
and why only liquid? .....cant we use any transparent solid material ....instead of that?
i prefer the white background...
whats the music :D pretty fun :D
Forgot I subbed. xD.
grand thompson sent me
You can see the reflection of his face at 0:39 and at 0:50
He was also on the Ellen show
Yeah I know I'm pointing it out
+Cubic Radiation yass higginsworth
Did channel close ??
"3 Months ago"... Lmao look at this dood
Do you even know what a kaleidoscope is?
This is a kaleidoscope
Where is the new video ?
why do we use sugar solution only......can't we use other solutions instead of that.....?
When are you guys going to make another video
can someone please explain me how this happens ??????
What if the glass get out?
Pretty cool... Huh
Why no more uploads
face reveal at 0:52
how many watt
Well I'll be
what if i eat this
show us some healthy science. :D
Why does this occur
Make more videos
Pppppppoooooosssssssssstttttttttt more please please please please
