The GM guide in that box is insane. I've been doing this for 35 years and their clue-deduction-matrix and approach to 5 room dungeons is insanely concise and on point. The game is a gem, even if one would never play it, just for all those tipps and systems and roll tables alone. I must know, never played it but use it for Coriolis.
@@TheAlexandrian A master of humble bragging :-D But jokes aside, I bought your Opus Magnum day 1 and have no complaints, there's a lot in there I "learned" by doing it for thousands of hours, yet still, there were whole chapters that baffled me with their usefulness. It *is* the best GM Guide, without a doubt, sir.
I've sadly only gotten to play it once and loved it, but couldn't convince my players to do it again. The formatting and layout of the rule book is so satisfying, and all the player/GM advice is so concise yet insightful.
-The map/range chart in deluxe is also full color -Wow, the standard GM screen is teeny -The giant stack of pamphlet adventures is great -The deluxe box fits printed character sheets and sheets of note paper very well. -Does Warden Containment system hold zines comfortably or just pamphlets?
Re: Character sheets in in the Deluxe Box. I just discovered that today as I was tidying up after my session. Very handy! Re: Containment system. It's the same size as the Core box and fits all the zine adventures I have.
I have been playing Mothership recently. Lots of fun. I initially thought the rules were too minimalistic to stand their ground at the table, but I was wrong, there is more depth than you think, the community is great and you cannot beat the ease of use and atmosphere. I got the deluxe box and I am very happy with my purchase.
I've played once and run once, and so far I've been pretty pleased. Biggest hurdle has been players in one group, perhaps conditioned a little bit by CoC and Gumshoe, being a little confused on what should happen on a failed Sanity save. (It's just gaining Stress and roleplaying what's appropriate for the character. It's Panic tests where mechanical consequences come home to roost.)
First time I've ever felt bad about getting the deluxe edition over the standard one. The GM screen in that small box looks so much better than the deluxe one.
Good unboxing, although I feel callings the Deluxe edition modules adventures is a bit of an understatement - each of them is a whole campaign in itself! I got the box myself but haven't had the opportunity to run it yet, looking forward to that.
Make sure to check out Quinn's review in the Font of All-Knowledge. But I'm likely to have a full review coming soon-ish! (I really don't like doing reviews of a game unless I've actually played the game for a while.)
If you take the small empty box out of Containment A in the deluxe set, the pamphlet adventures fit perfectly in there!
Whoa! Real tips are in the comments!
I use the empty black box for holding the cardboard minis.

I've been describing it as the second-best How To GM book.

@@ErayTarrell I mean, he wrote a book about DMing. Huge deductive leap here but...

Love Mothership - perfect game for its setting
Best advice ever - don’t have rules for the actions you actually want them to do.
This video was a bit delayed getting out, so I've actually had a chance to play and run it now, and I agree! It's been a ton of fun!

The standard GM screen is 'just right' size IMO. I had when a GM screen blocks my view of the table, portrait-oriented screens are the worst culprits.

I feel the same. Wish I’d got the standard box now
The wardens manual is great for all dms. Whole game is great.
Just finished GM'ing Another Bug Hunt. The game is excellent!
I'm looking forward to running that one!
These modern game sets are a work of art 🎨
Thanks for sharing.
I got the delux box but wish they’d made it a more standard size. It doesn’t fit on a shelf

I wish the books weren’t staple bound. They feel cheap
Need a review. The pretty is nice, but the game is the point.
