I'd hate to be the marketers in these runs. How the hell do you sell a park in the middle of nowhere with 4 identical rides and one drink stand?

Magic Mtn is one of my home parks. I remember riding Goliath when it first opened. Flashback is long gone.
I got a nice chuckle out of watching that speedrun.
I still struggle to beat the harder parks, as every time I think about spamming the same ride I stop and make my own park instead, which naturally fails. It's a hard habit to break.
I can't even beat the easy ones, dang it!

As long as coasters are small and meet the minimum ride requirements, you shouldn't need to spam coasters. I agree more than two of the same coaster looks really tacky.
@@vinesthemonkey I am still trying to beat Sherwood forest. I have sunk about 40 hours into it and it is so difficult. Oh wait why are all my ticket prices $1?
It's more fun to make fun looking coasters. It seems like spamming the Corkscrew Half over and over breaks most campaigns but it gets boring fast to me. I do like to sprinkle in a compact Mouse, Wooden, Steel, or Corkskrew (which the majority of campaigns have one of to start with) and then just make pretty/impractical rides.
Hey Marcel, have you ever thought about doing a video on which RCT scenarios are your favorites and why? I'm always interested in hearing people talk about why they like the things they like.

This whole platform/project only gets better and better. You deserve more back for your work than my measly likes and comments and views.
your single half corkscrew build basically lets me speedrun every scenario. it made rainbow summit a complete joke where I finished in 1.5 years and then waited 2.5 years and then watched my rating plummet due to whatever combination of too crowded and x side effect I didn't account for and ended up failing the mission. that's when I discovered the "end scenario early" option that changed my life.

So I had RCT and the corkscrew follies pack as a kid and your videos got me to thinking about it.
I was so pissed off when I played this scenario, I felt like the game just beat itself.
It looked like a fun map to play in too but like two minutes in and the trumpets went off.
You should consider submitting a speedrun to GDQ sometime! It would make for a nice change from the typical action titles that they get.

Best tip of this video is using 'R' to open rides. I hate the drop down clicking a ride from closed->test->open. Thanks
I'm not using R to open rides, I'm using R to open the ride construction window. As far as I know there is no hotkey for opening rides.
Right I misunderstood. They really do need a hotkey to open rides, the current system is a real pain for rides with a test mode.
i think its hilarious that you can speedrun the Six Flags scenario by two of their rides and paying off their loan with it

These are some great ways of working around scenario requirements :) What’s the massive cross-shaped red roller coaster near the end?
Those coasters at the end are actually 4 identical coasters that perfectly fit in a cross shape.
Can you make a video about the expansion packs in rct2 and what’s does it include in each one.
They add some new scenarios and reskins of existing rides. Unfortunately as a different team made the expansions, they don't match the look of the game at all.

Hey Marcel, how can i get the RCT 1 Parks in OpenRCT? I have RCT 2 installed for it and only have the RCT2 parks...
Noxmiles You need an installation/copy of RCT1 on your computer; there's a box in options for selecting the installation location of RCT1.

Your vids got me right back into RCT2, I both thankyou and despise you for that, endless hours of creating insane parks that my asshole guests won’t appreciate, bring it on.
I've noticed a lot of tools you used in these runs are not available in Vanilla RCT2. I was still able to beat Magic Mountain this way, but I could not open the Rides page with T nor could I scroll the loan down. Am I missing something in the game settings or is it just not available in Vanilla?
A lot of these are openrct2 features, which are allowed for the openrct2 categories. I changed my hotkeys to more convenient ones, which I think you can also do in vanilla.
Do you have the track from 9:00 somewhere to download?

Wat was the music used during the viewing of third speedrun.
I noticed in Electric Fields you had to manually open the drink stall after placing it. There's an option, I forget where exactly, that does this automatically. Is that allowed in speed runs?
Hello Marcel, is there a key that closes all windows in the game? Example: when i add 20 stuff members there are 20 Windows, and 20 clicks on the tiny x.
Backspace closes a single window, Shift+Backspace closes all windows

Quick question - you mention speeding up time four clicks to 128x speed - my client only allows me to speed up 3 clicks, and it's not as fast as yours! I can't find anything in the settings - what's your secret?
If you enable debug tools in the options you get the fourth speedup option, x128, available.

8:10 Out of curiosity, why does it have to be a drink shop and not a food shop? I thought the advertisement was for free food / drink.
And does the shop have to connect to the path or could it be placed anywhere, could save some time as apposed to placing it on the path?

How do you get the rides/stalls/shops to be open automatically?
I’m pretty sure in vanilla RCT2, they forbid you from demolishing (or editing in any way) most six flags rides.
I wonder if part of the reason was to prevent you from getting so much money by deleting rides.
Hi! I was wondering, how do you make the game so fast? For me in OpenRCT2 I only get it to speed 4. You seem to get it to speed 6.
You need to enable debug options in the options. This gives you access to the x128 speedup function.

Exploding minigolf sounds like a game they play in the minefields of Africa.
When doing a speedrun of a whole set of scenarios/a whole game, is it allowed to save a ride in one scenario and use it in other scenarios?
I think he mentioned that you're only allowed to use the rides that came with the game, such as the Mango Muncher ride. Player-designed rides are forbidden as they can cheese the game a little too much. But with the default rides, they allow pretty much everyone to do a run with reasonable simplicity. Of course, this only matters for "official" speedruns going for world records and such, if you want to see how fast you can beat the game your way, then go for what you think would be best.
@@jessegd6306 I think he's referring to saving a ride design in one scenario, then continuing to use that ride design in other scenarios when completing more than one scenario in a single run. I'm imagining people generally run single scenarios, so I don't know if there's even a rule for that, but I'm not familiar with this game's speedrun categories or community.
And Marcel did mention that within a run, you could design a ride, save it, then reuse it. I'm just not sure if that design would then be forbidden in the next scenario if you were to complete multiple scenarios in one run.
That is allowed. Deurklink did some speedruns of the full game and he built some efficient designs in the first scenarios and used them in the later ones.
Generally in games like this, if you do any type of run, you have to start from whatever pre-builds the game gives you. In the case of the speedruns outlined here, the community will call them "Individual Level (ILs) Runs". Any pre-builds you'd use have to come from the game's default files. In the case of a "Full Game" (or scenario sets, like all of an expansion pack completed in a row), you'd have the freedom to create your own pre-builds at or near the beginning of the run, and use them continuously, as long as you started the run with the game's default packages.
Does anyone know of a website that has saved games for the RTC2 original Scenarios,just before completion?.I recently installed OpenRCT2,and all my completed Scenarios were gone!?.Would like to get them all back.Thnx

Quite a few people would indeed like that, but I know that also a lot of people like the style on this channel I don't really want to drive them away by posting a lot of more casual videos. Both approaches have their advantages and disadvantages.
I like how the Magic Mountain strategy involves selling Shockwave, which was at the time one of the worst rollercoasters in the world. And I only say "at the time" because they removed it IRL too.
While we're on the subject, the real park has also since replaced Psyclone, Colossus, Deja Vu, Granny Grand Prix, Log Jammer and Metro.
Colossus? The super old wooden one? That's too bad, no body i knew liked that one but i didnt mind it.
@@yourex-wife4259 Colossus was converted to Twisted Colossus via RMC's I-Box track, so it's still there in spirit, even if the ride experience has changed quite a bit. Also, Shockwave (which was removed in 1988) isn't in this game; I think he meant Flashback, which definitely qualifies for his description. As for the others: Psyclone has been replaced with Apocalypse: The Ride, Déjà Vu now has West Coast Racers in that section, and the nearby water park (Hurricane Harbor) has expanded into at least part of the footprint where Flashback used to be. Log Jammer was removed in favor of Full Throttle (and one of the Metro's tunnels is used for part of its course), and Granny Gran Prix was demolished to make room for Thomas Town (now Whistlestop Park).

why are there so many merry go rounds
I imagine you can do better in a couple of these just by getting a mouse with a free-scroll wheel. Becomes quite quick to scroll down your debt or probably even the coaster prices
On the last scenario, Why wouldn’t you run the ads in 2 week segments so you get 33% more income :D
