Never really been into changing dart points at all, I've never changed any in my sets of darts, I actually prefer just a standard silver point at 32mm and just put a few stratches on the side of points they grip the board perfectly for my liking 🎯👍💯🙂
I'd be worried about wrecking my board! You can only rotate so often and they look damaging. ( Maybe Simon Whitlock will be interested ). Another great review.
I dont get the whole changing points thing in darts.. Bouncers are very rare and mostly caused by hitting the wire.. a grippier point wont help at all.. I think its mostly done to "just change something" once you have played with your setup for quite some time and there is no progress anymore.. you change anything on your dart and you feel like you are doing better again.
Yeah I think it is partly that and also because it's kind of become a fashion or fad mostly due to people seeing the pros using them. I am pretty sure I have said same thing in every points review that I was always happy with a bog standard black coated point 🙂
EU buyers if you buy them the webshop is not IOSS registered website. It says taxes are included, but vat is not payed, so you will pay cost (15€) + vat(on complete order + transport) instead of only price on website. So a order priced 69 Euro without transport cost will cost you in total 111 Euro. And as bonus because its not auto approved at border because not IOSS website it will also take couple of extra days before they release it because of the extra checks.
One reason the board gets wrecked might also be that it's s blade 6 TC. I had the same problem with mibgrip points on mine. I switched back to a blade 5 regular and it looks pristine even playing with mibgrip for a couple months on it.
Another good one mate, well done. I think its time all darts manufacturers come to an agreement and changes everything to Swiss Points. They can call it whatever they want but the idea is changing points with ease, just like soft tip darts. There's nothing more convenient than that.
Thanks! The idea of Swiss points like I have always said is a great one, the issue is people dont trust them not to break as they did often and easily when they first came out, I know they have improved since then but people still say they get them breaking too easily.
Lol I was going to do some digging but the ground is like concrete so sack that, still plenty of other stuff to do though, I just work around the aches when I can 😊
I like to use the Target Firestorm Onyx at home for the simple reason of them having that smooth transition from point to barrel...better for the flights or flight systems like the AK5 from Cuesoul. The Taurus points look hella interesting to me, but they also look like real board killers. I´m not too fond of having to buy a new board every month, so I´ll surely pick up one or two sets of these points when I see them , but will not make ´ em my standard points for training at home.
What are the grippiest points you e used for finger grip? I only have two fingers on the barrel and a third on the point, constantly feel like it's slipping
As said many times in my reviews over years when reviewing darts with new shiny silver points, they are the worse for just dropping out the board unless you scuff them up like I have advised people to do. Otherwise I just stick with black coated points, no need to scuff them up and they stick fine for me, but of course they dont look so good when the coating wears off and they may need scuffing at that point, but I have used my Harrows Predators with the points they came with since I reviewed them and not had any issues worth mentioning :)
Awesome review, Darren. I have a question: I own the Designa repointing tool. It generally works ok, but on several occasions I couldn't get machine pressed points out and it's really annoying. They just won't come out no matter what. So, are there any more advanced repointing machines or ones that are of higher quality that I don't have to twist so hard? They all seem to look alike, but with a huge difference in price. Any recommendations are most appreciated.
Thanks mate. Some points are crazy hard to get out, I had a really hard time pulling out the points on the Harrows Predators recently when I did the review on the new Mission points. Target do a tool that can be clamped to a table and I think Bulls have a similar one too but I think they are around £130. I also seen one on ebay which I have not seen in shops, supposedly a pro tool but it was over £500!
oof, board killers, love a good set of winmau free flos, never really had any issues of darts falling out, that said I did throw mine like I hate them😂😂😂. Good review as always Darren 👍
I've never had much trouble with darts falling out but it happens now and then, not sure it's regular enough to say I need more grippy points but if I was playing competitively I would consider them 😊
Hi Darren, do you know why the majority of the players still play with a silver point instead of a black point? I know scuffing them up makes a bit of a difference but why than not go for black? It's special but i like silver points sometimes more than blacks, so that may answer my own question.
These look similar to the Hawk points or Talon points from Eagle darts. I repointed some conversation points with them lol , I did a little RUclips short showing them if you want to take a look
@@DartsReviewChannel it’s absolutely fine no different than a regular point and easy to pull out. I got the full length grip ones but you can also get them with just the tip coated. Lots of customs options available including Swiss point options
I understand why people who have a lot of drop outs would use a grippy point but I don't seem to have that problem. I like smooth steel ones, don't even like the black coated ones.
@@DartsReviewChannel I’m not disagreeing, rough points will always hold a dart in the board better than smooth. I think it’s more about physics. There are other factors, the angle the dart enters the board and its velocity. Weight of the dart and the length of the point. I've been playing since 1980 and from my own experience and watching the pros I feel drop outs have more to do with the players technique than the point or the board. Whitlock and Michael Smith have a lot of drop outs but not Wright or Van Gerwen.
@@johnbrann75 Oh yes I agree with that too. One thing I meant to mention on my update on the Eclipse Ultra which I think I forgot was that I felt that particular board for whatever reason seems to hold the shiny silver points better, now that could be because Unicorn often put them in their darts or it could be I was just imagining it lol I was going to ask if anyone else had noticed the same though. I did buy a Bulls Advantage I think it was, years ago. It was so hard though that sometimes my darts would just bounce off the sisal. I had to sharpen my points more to make them stick, problem was when they hit the wire they would get hooked nosed. Not sure grippy points would have done much better though, it was a while before I got that board soft enough and by then the spider was falling out.
They contacted me and said they would send some but not heard any more since. To me they just looked the same as the M.I.B. points I've reviewed already though 🙂

if its just for finger grip you are probably best checking out the ones with grooves built into the point, there is lots of those out there.
I'll stick with using the concrete step outside the local to sharpen the points 😉
Ah but can you take that step with you when playing away games lol 😜
@@DartsReviewChannel fair point well presented 🤣
I do the same, the step doesn’t have to travel to away games, I just use it before I leave
