Now this is the kind of spiritual singing I dearly enjoy! What fond memories come back to me, for my late Mother was a devout Christian, and in our home she played and sang no other music but songs which glorified our Saviour Jesus! Sis Edna was one of her favorites and I am grateful for your showing this!!!
She and my late mother were friends. My mom was a local gospel singer, and Madame Cooke would travel from Washington, D.C. to my hometown in Oxford, NC every third Sunday in November to be on my mom's gospel anniversary program. She always drew a huge crowd.
@@Rowoches Don't mind at all. My mom's name was Clara Latta Brooks. She once spent the summer in DC playing piano at the church where Madame Cooke's father pastored.
What great history. I was born in Jamaica, came here early 70s, but I can say that I give all Glory to God. My sisters and brothers here in the US. Set a standard for all when it comes to Music. The History of music whether it's Gospel, R&B, Soul, Doo Wop, Blues, etc. You can do no wrong. Just a beautiful thing. The great voices, the singing, what can I say. Out of this world. Thanks for sharing this great history. I am really enjoying these vintage clips. RUclips is a blessing. Lot of history/information. 🎼🎼🎶🎶🎵🎵🎹🎹🎹

Come on for that beehive!
SHE LOOKED LIKE ARETHA FRANKLIN for a second there!!!
Aretha was highly influenced by her
Rowoches, Where was she from originally? I love her voice, she sings so effortlessly. What a voice! Thank you for sharing this wonderful talent.
She was originally from Columbia, SC and lived in Washington, DC for a while.
I remember that organist Little Sammy
Didn't Mother Katie Bell Nubin record this song?
what was Madame Cook's cause of death? Seems so young. thanks in advance .. Kingdom Blessings with much love to All!
ShuculaArmstrong it was cancer. She didn’t linger long from what I’m told.
Who was the guys backing her up?
Sylvia North Carolina not sure of all of them but the late great Willie Banks was one of them.
One of the guys is Willie Banks
So this is where Amy Winehouse got the idea for those fine black back up singer dancing boys. They steal everything from us!
