Beautiful model, Thomas! A nice tribute to Burns, who was sadly gone too soon. I found the yellow decals very difficult to work with. On my kit, they were brittle and hard to conform to the rear fenders. You using carbon fiber decals gave a special touch.
Great job!) It was very nice to watch this detailed video!) If you don't mind, could you write in the comments what paints you used, I mean the number of paints? 😉😎👍
A bit of a long video this time - I was really pleased with how this one turned out so I thought I'd put as much as possible into one video. Thanks for watching - remember you can get 10% off from Kent models.co.uk with BOAB10 (limited to 5 usages per customer)
I built this kit about six months ago, it's still a really nice kit depsite it's age, the only real issues I had were with the decals, they just seemed so thick and tough, none of my decal solutions would really touch them, those ones on the drivers crash helmets were impossible and I had to bin them, interesting that you said the UMP solutions did the trick, I might have to get a set of those, I already have MIG and Micro(set/sol) but the UMP ones must be even stronger.
Thanks Gary - yes, UMP do a strong and an extra strong as well as their standard. You need to be careful with the extra strong as the decals are very delicate. I do recommend them for large challenging decals though.
@@BOABModels Tamiya seem to be the toughest decals I come up against, other manufacturers decals lay down no problem with solution, I think I'll pick up some UMP to try.
@@BOABModels I've always wanted to get that kit but I just wouldn't have so much spare time to do it. Love the short video you made with the gran turismo music as well.
Hi Auden - no I don't mind. I used discounts to purchase the kit, blue paint and carbon fibre from Kent models - I think that was around £33 in total. The smaller paints and tools have been accumulated over a long time so it's hard to say exactly how much everything cost - the brush paints are usually around £2 each, primer and clear gloss were both £7. Kent models do have a feature where it can add everything you might need to start model building which you could look at. Don't forget 10% off with BOAB10
Can i have a question, is it possible to add vinyl wrap on tamiya model rally car kit? When i saw my friends adding a vinyl color wrap on his car, he also adding a vinyl color wrap on tamiya model rally car kit
Good question - I have added simple vinyl stickers to a model but not a whole wrap. I think in principle it would be fine but as a heat gun is used to stretch the wrap, you would have to be careful not to melt the plastic of the model itself.
Yeah, that's it. There was an incident about 20 years ago where the Peugeot 206 of Gronholm was damaged but drivable during Rally GB - on the road between the stages, he gets pulled over by the Welsh police and forced to retire.
Richard Burns and Malcolm Wilson were my favourite drivers. Absolutely superb.
Thanks very much! I've built Wilson's Metro 6R4 as well.
That 'interior light' is actually a fresh air system for the drivers, it's what the roof scoop is for. Nice build!
Ah! Thank you - I had no idea and hadn't seen any pictures online showing it close up.
I never builted a car, any kind of, only bikes, but i want to build the older version of the Impreza. Nice vid, excellent build.
Many thanks. I made the 1995 Impreza from Hasegawa as well as the 1999 Impreza from Tamiya - both are good kits.
Excellent build! I built the 2005 version, and still have nightmares with the decals. You did well.
Many thanks - I found these easier than when I made the 1999 version. I'd like to make the '05 in the future.
lovely work on this scooby 👏🏻👏🏻 looks great
Thank you, Chris. It's a lovely kit
I have a 2001 Impreza WRX "Richard Burns edition (22/41)", silver with Morette headlights. Very satisfying video. :)
Thank you very much! I love seeing old WRXs on the road.
Very nice. Thanks for showing it.
Thank you very much, Larry

Really nicely done. Very clean build.

Amazing work man 👍👏
Many thanks Will! 👍
Just got this kit by chance. Wanted to just buy some primer. Looking really forward towards it, but first i have to finish a Belkits Skoda S2000.
It's a lovely one to build - I have another in the stash as I enjoyed it so much. I should get another Belkits some time too.
Wow, this Subaru looks absolutely amazing Thomas. Super well done 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much, Karl!

turned out nice mate👍
Cheers, Adam. Thanks for watching.
Hello, if you don’t mind what’s the estimated total of everything shown in the video?

you pass some varnish after the end of the painting?
Yes I used Tamiya TS13 I believe

I always wondered why WRC cars have license plates on them....I thought it was a show thing but seems it is to be road legal.
Yeah, that's it. There was an incident about 20 years ago where the Peugeot 206 of Gronholm was damaged but drivable during Rally GB - on the road between the stages, he gets pulled over by the Welsh police and forced to retire.
They often drove on the roads between stages and had to be road legal.
