When I was much more active in my church, a very conservative and traditional Anglican parish, I served at the altar pretty frequently. At the end of almost every Sunday morning service, what was listed in the bulletin as 'The Last Gospel,' John 1:1-14 would be read by the vicar. I held the Gospel Book that our vicar read from. At the bit that says 'the Word was made flesh,' everybody would bow (except me, because I was holding the Book). The very first time that happened, seeing everybody bow in my general direction, there was something inside me that really liked it. That was 15 years ago, but that incident still horrifies me. Every Sunday thereafter, I closed my eyes just before that part of the Last Gospel and said 'Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen' very quickly in my mind. The old man loves flattery, power and attention... That feeling of horror was the Holy Ghost working within me, and I thank God for that feeling of horror.

After 60 years of serving the Lord, He is disciplining me for the very sins mencioned by Chan, ie pride, jealousy, hypocresy, looking for fame, etc and the worst is false humility! Even sharing this in my church context is a danger, so am waiting in a quiet place right now for His word: now.
Everything that he preached is exactly what God has been dealing with me about over the past months, and years actually. Frustrations, disappointments, heartaches etc… sort of like crushing the olive to get the purest oil. Deleting my social media accounts was one of the best decisions God convicted me of. I tried to rationalize using the platforms to spread the gospel, but I saw how the pride it so often cultivates could easily become a stumbling block, which I believe is what Francis struggled with. Plus, it's so impersonal, when we're called to build personal relationships with each other. Not through a screen. Don't get me wrong, men like Nate do a great job of commentating and teaching, but people don't realize how dangerous the spotlight can be. You must have full reliance on God's grace for wisdom, discipline, humility, and patience. The vast majority of people aren't there. Attention and influence are power and power so often corrupts. That's why social media produces narcissistic traits in people. The quiet life is far better anyway.
I did the same 5 years ago. Although youtube is a form of social media, you can consider any type of media that can socially interact with one another a form of "social media" like games with in-game chats or other platforms. These comments are concerning. So many are saying “Francis is hanging out with unbiblical teachers”, “he’s heretical”, “he has unbiblical teachings”, but what about us??? Look at our friends and ones we hang out with. Look at our teachings or our own tongues sometimes in our daily language. Look at how we screw up or misunderstand or preach the wrong things from scripture. Are we so much better? Francis Chan is not a perfect human being by far, but is he not allowed to have “unbiblical teachers” as friends? Jesus hung out with sinners and tax collectors. And we’re called to the same so that all might have the true gospel. Who says he’s not preaching to those friends of his the truth? And maybe he gets things wrong. And we don’t? Stop being hypocrites in the comments and look at the planks in our own eyes first
I listened to Ps Chan a lot before and he really brought my attention to a lot of my sinful nature. I really appreciate him. He’s so passionate about God and that’s my goal☺️
I have learned so much from your ministry- thank you for your devotion and for being real and humble. The passage Francis covered was one I’d recently read and it has always resonated with me because I believe in today’s culture- it’s all about being bigger than life and making your mark. But in this passage God gives us permission to live quietly and focus on the work before us. What relief that brings. He will do the rest. He promises His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Quiet trust and obedience is our responsibility. ❤
Nate, what are your thoughts on Chan supporting a conference that is also supported by Benny Hinn, Heidi Baker and other word of faith/prosperity gospel teachers?
Yes, he also met the pope. I am very careful to follow anyone. We have to know what is going on behind the scenes. There is a group that will be so deceived, they will be ready to follow the antichrist. Do you know about the NAR?
The good sheppard leaves the 99 to find the 1 that is missing... should wolves in sheep clothes be left unattended with the flock? Or would you prefer an actual sheppard to step in and take care of the sheep?
Love this! You are right! Chan is on fire here. His points are spot on. I love where he mentions that the Bible tells us to confess our sins and not announce our righteous works. This is exactly what separates born again Christians from all other religious people and religions. Everyone wants to proclaim how righteous and self disciplined they are in prayer, fasting and giving to the poor. But a true follower of Christ proclaims to the world “I was dead in my sins, but God, being rich in mercy, made me alive through Christ. By grace I am saved and not by my own good works!”
Thank you for this encouraging and convicting video. The Lord used you to help me in the ministry He has me in. Thanks for your honesty, love, and commitment to God.
Chan did explain what living "Quite" means. Do good deeds without boasting about it! Live humbly, simply, help/love others and praise God. This world loves to be praised, to be powerful, and to be popular or well known and rich. Living a Godly lifestyle is the exact opposite. There's nothing wrong with those things however we must always remain humble and live like Jesus. Resemble Jesus in every way. Jesus is THE way, THE truth, and THE life! Be still and know that I AM God. Everything you do, do as unto The Lord. Keep your heart pure!
Nate, thank you for this video and this is a good teaching. How do you balance teachings when there are questions about the teacher? Looks like this is at Jesus 23 conference that is run by Benny Hinn's kids. Francis will be back again at the conference but it will be held in my neck of the woods in southern California and not Orlando. The speakers sharing the stage with Francis are Benny Hinn, his kids, Bill Johnson, Christine Craine and others who have very very unbiblical teachings. It is rough.
I’m so blessed by this ministry. Thank you for the heart piercing truths that you highlight. Thank you for each moment you paused and reflected on what Chan had said. It sunk each arrow in deeper. Right where God wants it. -Janelle

It was an excellent message and it truly was convicting. Thanks for posting. Many times when God shows me something I want to run to social media and post it somehow thinking that’s what I’m supposed to do. But through this message I feel more confident in not having to do that but just to receive it for me and perhaps just living it and God will use it for others in my life. It’s a very humbling message.
Man I really love your videos Nate. I also have such a tinder heart for people and their salvation and reconciliation to the Father. I cry tears of joy every time I see it happen. God bless your work. I hope to meet you some day.
Some of the best of what God does in an individual is done during the "quiet times" of life. We must always give place to public and private moments, and realize the beauty in both
I've been living a quiet life all my life. I'm not on social media. I don't think I need to be but people think I should be but I don't think I should be LOL. I take discipleship very seriously and it's very small amount of people at one time mostly one-on-one. I have found I've had to empty myself. Keep up the good work. I appreciate all you do. It's really good for me.
I love watching your videos. My husband and I will watch them together. I grew up as a pk. I love this video. Francis Chan is spot on. I needed this reminder. Thank you!
Really needed to hear this, and tonight was perfect timing (of course). God's will, timing, and use of others in our lives is indeed perfect, as He is Perfect. I'm so grateful that He led me to your channel, Nate, and that you found this sermon to use. The Lord has certainly been doing a wonderful work inside of me, and I have nearly gone mad trying to figure out how best to go preach from the mountaintops to the masses. The answers never came; only more questions and frustration. I think that answer is here, now. So grateful. Thy will, not mine, be done.
It was your video on Voddie Baucham that led me to you. Very thankful for your content. I don’t listen to many Pastors but Francis Chan I do and have read all his books. His rope illustration sermon is great! Thanks for the video.
Your words at the end were beautiful. I’m a new subscriber and am learning a lot from you. You’ve used the word ‘heartbreak’ a few times and it speaks to me. I don’t want to wallow in the heartbreak (it’s tempting to do so), I want to learn and move forward for the Lord.
I always look forward to your videos and this one was beautiful. I appreciated your personal story at the end. Praying for your channel to grow and reach more people 🙏
I enjoyed chans message and your commentry I have in the last 2 years started living quitely. It's be an absolute blessing. Bro very cool to hear your transparency in this vid .. totally in agreement that Chan gave a great convicting message . Keep doin Gods work my friend 🙏🏽💪🏽
This is really good to see. I have avoided him for many years, but this direction change in him speaks beautifully to the changes God is doing in the hearts of his people. 🙏❤️✌️
Spoiler alert: this isn’t a new direction for Chan. The theo-bro outrage against him is based on soundbites taken out of context. He has very solid theology and is a true disciple. Kinda like how the progressives rail against Jordan Peterson without having listened to his actual lectures.
With what you said about the time it took for God to work in you and soften your heart, feels like where I’m at.! My dad and I spoke about this the other day. I know God is working on me. I think with us seeing the Christian social media I.e. (RUclips, instagram, facebook etc…) it makes the body want to be the head! As me and my dad spoke I said, I just want God to make me a good Christian. Not a theologian or a teacher or a worship leader. A good Christian. I love your videos, and people like you. Keep up the good work and keep the faith!! ✌🏾
By far, probably the one off best sermon if not the best I've heard in the year 2024, extremely humbling I am a 48 year-old man being a believer since I was 18 married since I was 18 to my high school sweetheart, and this is humbling to hear I have never preached in my life. I have been offered the pulpit, but I turned it down. I have reengage with the Lord I was away from him and the things that I'm learning of the year 2024 there is too much but everything that I'm watching it's leading me to somethingand being quiet it's one of them. God bless everyone.
I really wish I had a Christian Mentor when I first got saved because it would helped me navigate a lot of things that I’m just now learning at 7/8 years in
I liked this message from Chan yes very much, and i do appreciate your ministry. It's taught me how to appreciate a good sermon that is actually going to change my life, my heart, my soul, not just make me feel good. I love the idea of using God's word to teach .
I think there is too much "my story" telling in a lot of today's preaching. Jesus didn't tell "me" stories, He used parable and common experience... not to mention, His stories were always Spirit inspired. Also, I think this stress on "what do the verses mean for our lives" goes too far. Sometimes the POINT of the Scripture is JUST to teach us something about God... there doesn't always need to be a "how do we live" aspect, other than being in awe of Him and giving Him glory. I see this especially when hearing teaching on the Psalms. Otherwise, I agree with Chan... and you, Nate.
One million percent. The hoops people will go through to try and make a Scripture mean a hundred different things because they believe every Scripture can be applied to modern-day situations as if they were written for our situation. I've been saying what you said for ages!!
Chan says a lot of stuff that is very biblical, and makes a concerted effort to live according to scriptural principles. That's all I can say about him.
Sometimes the blessing is being broken. Coming from the roughest year of my life, the blessing for me was being broken and learning to trust God. No matter how hard I tried to fix things it just got worse. I was finally completely broken and realized that I had to trust God with everything. That was my blessing.
Video starts at 0:40 I personally hate snippets at the beginning. I get it’s to hook us, but for me it feels like I watched that prob twice instead of experiencing it not expecting it. Great breakdown and awesome message from Francis.
I still have his book Crazy Love. My understanding is Francis Chan was solid but his name being known made him arrogant so he left his first church. My fear is if you don't stick to the Word of God as your only inspiration on your journey, you may end up with people who believe they are gods like prosperity and Word of Faith teachers(CBN and TBN are similar I think). I saw myself listening to preachers I had no ideas what their beliefs were (the Word showed me). I pray I'm wrong but fear that's what happened. I pray the I AM pulls him back, as Satan would love us to believe we're doing God's will straight into hell- Lord help all of us 🙏
He's doing good. This message is recent. He left the mega church years ago because people were seeking him instead of God. Also He came to know the gifts are still active, and the Holy Spirit still speaks to us. And many of the hardliners tradionalist basically called him a heretic. He went to Asia and lived with the persecuted church for years and now he's back in California planting churches last I heard.
@@JG-id5vi He is supporting and providing cover for lying, stealing charlatans and false teachers like Benny Hinn and the gang. Called mike Bickle the most Godliest man he knows. He is in the word of faith, fake healing, prosperity preaching crowd. He left the mega church and now takes speaking engagements all over the world. Curious what those speaking fees, err honorarium are.
@@JG-id5vi He might have righted his wrong but I am still discerning about him.. I really love his sermons and he was one that inspired my convictions to Christ.. But his time in 2018- 2020 were not his best time and to be candid was very un-Biblical. These are not 2nd hand. His own quotes, statement, and sermons that he had done. This is why many people are not only shocked but question him like John Piper (Desiring God) in the past to the present (his teaching is completely different).. These are similar trajectory of who I listened and then stop listening because his very belief and conviction in that time were contradictory. I am open hear him but I question him more still.

@@zanicar4087 Definitely would be great if Francis actually exposed the wolves instead of supporting them and providing them cover though.
@@zanicar4087Take no part in the works of the devil
And this video is why I find Nate questionable
He lacks discernment and gives a pass to this whiney wolf …😬😢
Thank you for what you bring to us, and for the knowledge and inspiration you give us.
This sermon was so needed. A spiritual wake up call to each of us. God helps us to return to HIS WORD. Thank you brother for posting this. Joe
Thank you and praise God for always willing to be our Good Shepherd.
This very convicting and I've been reflecting on myself and the changes I need to make in my life. I needed to hear this.
Excellent job brother. Love in the faith is clearly seen in the unseen.
"God prepares you before he sends you" was such a profound sentence to me.
Thank you Nate for sharing your ministry to all of us, thank you caring enough and doing God’s work! God bless you
I’m so blessed by this ministry. Thank you for the heart piercing truths that you highlight. Thank you for each moment you paused and reflected on what Chan had said. It sunk each arrow in deeper. Right where God wants it. -Janelle
Beautiful! Your genuineness is felt! I guess I see how the platform can poison when approached with pride.
Lovely review. This is the first time I've actually listened to a Francis Chan sermon but wow his words were really convicting. Such a powerful sermon.
What a Great message from God using pastor Chan and your feedback on it. Thank you for your love and videos Pastor Nate and letting yourself be used by God.
May God continue to bless your ministry.
So powerful is all I have to say, I’ll remember this and go forward with this in my path. Thank you
Thank you, Nate. You are a blessing.
This is so enlightening.I love pastor chan he is such a humble servant of God!! And love you and your messages always very humbling and honest.Nate I really appreciate your podcast it was a great topic.God bless
Man... Great stuff. Thanks for your critique on the message. Overall both you and Chan are so on point.
Wow ,I needed to here this today! When God is convicting us it breaks our very soul ! ! I have never watched this man .But this is powerful ❤️🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥
I was so moved by your testimony at the end - glad it didn’t get cut! 😆Thanks for sharing
The carpenter part really hit home for me. It would help a lot of men to find profitable skills.
We must always give place to public and private moments, and realize the beauty in both
Thank you. I appreciate your commentary and the message you highlighted from Pastor Chan.
Thank you!
Glad to hear a powerful, biblical, truthful message!
Thank you for breaking down this sermon, this has been such an edifying post.
I greatly appreciative that God has lead me to Wise Disciple.
This was so good. His message was spot on and I appreciated your analysis and take on it.
I really appreciate your humility, transparency, love for the Lord and those of us on the other side of this video. I appreciate you brother!
Wow! This was a powerful message I know God wanted me to not just hear, but to understand.
I thank you for your ministry for helping me in my ministry God bless
I always look forward to your videos and this one was beautiful. I appreciated your personal story at the end. Praying for your channel to grow and reach more people 🙏
Thank you. God bless you both.
Love you, brother !! Appreciate your passion and dedication !!
I enjoyed chans message and your commentry I have in the last 2 years started living quitely. It's be an absolute blessing. One of those blessings is not striving for the praise of others or affermation of man. This was always my problem but now I'm forfilled without all the hype thank you Nate love this channel
Bro very cool to hear your transparency in this vid .. totally in agreement that Chan gave a great convicting message . Keep doin Gods work my friend 🙏🏽💪🏽
Thx @wisedisiple your ministry has been an incredible blessing to my life, all glory to God
Just want to say thank you for covering this, Nate. So much value in the sermon and some really helpful reflection by you so I'm grateful for that
With what you said about the time it took for God to work in you and soften your heart, feels like where I’m at.! ✌🏾
Thank you. I needed this. I have been making too much noise. Wow. Thanks again. ❤
Thank you for making this video. This really helped me…God bless you, ❤.
I really wish I had a Christian Mentor when I first got saved because it would helped me navigate a lot of things that I’m just now learning at 7/8 years in
Great sermon and breakdown. I appreciate your ministry Nate. God bless you and your family. Thank you.
I liked this message from Chan yes very much, and i do appreciate your ministry. It's taught me how to appreciate a good sermon that is actually going to change my life, my heart, my soul, not just make me feel good. I love the idea of using God's word to teach .
I needed this so much
Can you do more of these sermon reviews? They’re edifying in a unique way when compared to your other kinds of videos (those are also great).
Chan says some stuff that's unbiblical, and associates with some false teachers. But that's all I can say about him.
😊
Chan says a lot of stuff that is very biblical, and makes a concerted effort to live according to scriptural principles. That's all I can say about him.
Like what?
He is ecumenical to the point of accepting and receiving JW’s as Christians
He preached this message at my church! Was 🔥
Thank you so much Nate. You have helped me so much!
That was a Very much needed sermon, and explanation ‼️
A very brave post. Thanks for your very hard work.
God bless you and yours.
This was a really great video with some very good commentary on your part to compliment it
This was just amazing all around. Thank you Wise Disciple
Amen Nate! Keep it up, God's with you.
I appreciate your videos brother ! 🙏 ✝️ ❤️ thank you
I still have his book Crazy Love.
@@JG-id5viChan calls Catholics Brothers.
He is not doing good 😞
@@JG-id5vi He might have righted his wrong but I am still discerning about him..
@@toolegittoquit_001Why do you focus on Catholics ad' nauseum?
I ask bc you're comments relay an extremely biased opinion in which you call out Catholics?
You may disagree with certain aspects of that particular denomination, but hopefully you know there are issues with all denominations?
Picking on Catholics, which I have read on several of Nate's videos now, is troll behavior. 🙄 Just saying...
Wonderful message. I’ve always felt less of a Christian for not being more evangelical… for not shouting the gospel from the rooftops. Confessing your sins and hiding your good deeds is simple and profound.
Good video, I agree with your analysis, good sermon, Chan is definitely a great communicator, and many pastors could learn from him.
Nate, thank you for all your information and content please keep up with the hard work. And sharing with your friends 😁.
Nate sir, this is by far your best episode and I’ve been subscribed for about a year now. Keep it up. Well done. God bless you and all of your subscribers searching for our Lord and Savior. I will absolutely go back and watch Mr. Chan’s sermon. Just these short clips were just as you said, “FIRE!!!”
This is powerful. Like goosebumps powerful
Thank you. I have to digest this message for a while, but it resonates.
Thank you for this. God bless you.
Honestly in this world where social media is the standard and if you have it then yes it is deeply needed.
