I love this documentary. I need to watch it in full again. It has to be one of the most in-depth makings of any film. This film really is remarkable and the work that went into the deleted scenes really was outstanding. It always saddens me when deleted scenes, especially before the technology we have today, remained hidden for many years. But I am so thankful we have documentaries and RUclips to see how much hard work goes into bringing a film to life. Whether it is an effect or dialogue. As a movie fan who really appreciates prosthetic effects over today's CGI, this really was a treat to see.
If they'd had the foresight and time to get a single medium shot of Brundle showing a little remorse right after killing the baboon-cat, the whole sequence could've been left in. All the audience would've needed was just a few seconds of him feeling bad about it. Seems a real shame to cut such a creative sequence due to the absence of just one shot.
@PARTY HAT I think the cat-batoon thing didn't look good and it makes no sense that Brundle would want to fuse himself with Veronica after that. I like the following rooftop scene but where else would that scene fit in the movie even if the lighting was good?
If they'd kept the scene of Brundle on the rooftop realizing there's nothing he can do, with Moonlight Sonata playing, I would cry like a baby every viewing of the film
My mother is petrified of this movie and said she would break whatever tv she ever seen it on in her damn house ...3 TVs a door and fish tank were bought cause my sister and brother thought she was playing
I empathize with your mum, the film sickened and disturbed me but I had such morbid curiosity for it that I became mildly obsessed with Brundle's plight feeling it was so horrific for him and tragic. That was 15 yrs ago when I was 16 and it still scares the bejaysus out of me!
You would’ve had to have searched out this scene since it was never included in any release of this film. So......I guess you liked watching hard things. To watch.
yeah they made the right call, the baboon cat hybrid was far too upsetting. i can tell alot of work went into the toilet, but i am glad the scenes are preseved in the bonus features. but yeah you don't need the scene to be able to know that Brundle's plan to merge him and Veronica and the baby together is doomed to fail. It works better as a desperation move, hes not thinking straight, or it could even be that he wants to keep veronica for himself in order to keep her from Stathis, cos this is a love triangle situation, so it wouldnt matter if they both die in the process. Thats really interesting, but yeah they made Cuts to this film that were Very good Calls! :)
I mean they're the artistic experts, but I completely disagree. I think it shows how desperate he is. I don't think it stops the viewers caring about his problems at all. Quite the opposite. Because let's be honest, most people that watch that will ask themselves if they'd do the same thing and I think many would. It doesn't mean he enjoys hurting animals, he's just desperately trying to find a way of fixing the problem, by any means necessary. Also the whole protagonist/antagonist thing constantly fluctuates throughout the movie. He gives a human being a compound fracture during an arm wrestle and shows no remorse. He deliberately amputates a human foot slowly and painfully. I don't understand how THIS was the thing they thought would turn viewers against him. He does some horrific things, but throughout it all you always know Seth's still there and he's absolutely terrified. So I think they absolutely should've kept this in but as I said, I'm not the expert. Just my opinion.
No it wasn’t, had they kept it in. The audience would have lost their compassion for Brundle”s Character. It would have made him a Villain! It was a truly disturbing scene
That monkey and cat killing scene was good to be taken out of the movie because it portrays him in a bad way…..and remember he’s a good guy so I’m kind of glad they cut that part out!
The makeup is incredible in this movie, the oscar was well deserved!
3:19 Jeff Goldblum should had got a Oscar nomination.
The fact he didn't is criminal.
You have no idea how badly I wanted one of those teleportation pods in my apartment back in 1987, the coolest conversation piece ever.

Would love to watch it in full. Any idea where I can find it?
The Fly, probably the best film ever made and in the classics list with Scanners, Alien, Aliens, The Terminator, The Thing, The Shining.
I’m glad they cut the cat monkey out. That’s dark and depressing.

Insightful comment. Little things like that are what shape how the audience feels about a character.
Also, although barbaric and violent I believe Brundle did this hybrid a huge favour, how horrible but the death was a mercy

Great scenes!!! Cant believe they cutted them.

By this point the film turned sickening.
Very strange that everyone involved with this movie seems to think that baboons aren’t monkeys.
And to think Geena Davis was married to Jeff Goldblum from 1986 to 1990.
They divorced in 1989
I think the stage-4B makeup would’ve been perfect for other scenes then this one. Shows more mutation and looks more cool than the other costumes.
My mother is petrified of this movie and said she would break whatever tv she ever seen it on in her damn house ...3 TVs a door and fish tank were bought cause my sister and brother thought she was playing
hahahahha
@@MonosonicJukeJoint was some stone cold Steve Austin theme music sounding times in the 90s

Thy gory movie of all time they dont make them like that anymore
Honestly, I wound the care of the character beat that monkey cat 😂 I would love to have watched these scenes in the movie 💯
This almost reminds me like a nightmare of cat dog but with a baboon
this scene with him beating the cat screaming was the hardest thing to watch when i was younger
Really disturbing for cat lovers.
It's not in the movie... it's an outtake. Where have you seen it?
You would’ve had to have searched out this scene since it was never included in any release of this film. So......I guess you liked watching hard things. To watch.
@INTERNET GOD So edgy!
Huh? The scene that wasn't in the film...was hard to watch when you were younger?
Must be a psychic.

deleting this scene was a horrible mistake imo

He amputated a living mans foot in the movie. Than ate it!!!!!!!!!
But the cat beating thing to put it out of its misery is what bothered you?!?
Excellent fkd up movie
