    Lifelong Hoosier here (born/raised in the town with the Lincoln plaque). I've been to a lot of these places. Yoder is pronounced with a long O. Gaston, sadly, isn't pronounced like the Disney character. The accent is on the first syllable; GAStun. Likewise Advance has the accent on the first syllable, not like the word that means to go forward. Pizza King is a central Indiana chain and most of them have really good pizza.

    Next time you pass through Indiana, check out Parke County: the covered bridge capital of the world. 32 bridges, most in absolutely remote places. You can get a map at the visitor center, and find all of them. It’s fun!
    Back in 2003, I filmed all of them (that you could drive through) with a video camera, perched out my Honda sunroof. The others I walked through, in a time before GoPro image stabilization! I found out who in my family got motion sickness the easiest! 😀
    Some of the covered bridges are as long as football fields, and sit like temples to another time. But the draw for me: unreal quiet. And at Turkey Run : Shades State Parks, unbelievable canyons, straight out of a Lord of the Rings movie.

    Being unfortunate enough to have lived in Gaston at one time (pronounced Gas-tin), I gotta say had you just did a little turn and filmed across the street but behind you while getting the shot of the liquor store you could have shown Gaston's first and possibly only ever hospital. Just North, over there in Mathews, there's a historic covered bridge and natural spring. When driving through these small towns you should stop and ask locals if there's any points of interest you may be unaware of.

  • @MyMagicCookie6

    Pretty cool to show all the small towns in the area. I'm from Ossian (Ah-See-eh) so I recognized a bunch of the areas around. And yeah you were right pretty early on in the video, our landscape is corn, corn, corn, some beans, and corn.
    Also the Chief statue in Montpelier was featured in the intro to the show Parks and Recreation, for anyone who haa seen the show.
    And since you brought up the court house in Hartford city, there's also a large old sandstone brick court house in the town of Bluffton that looks pretty nice as well. It was built in 1889.

      31.10.20. UK.Backroads US. Our Credentials Not Spell Chckd. This is what the UK Police have told us can never be read by public..Firstly re the films. When we saw the first few episodes this we were impressed But just as with so many of the films on the Internet we started thinkin, not just lookin. Here is what we know to be of value. Our trainin was 12 yrs spent traipsin Cent London knockin at doors axxompanied by victims of the establ. We got death threats from HM court system and the US security orgs like Burns. They were the ones who shot and beat up US Workers when they refused to Accept starvation wages.. We are still being subjected to violence by Police and we have endured threats of violence by US embassy etc. The public are not much different. We found 2.5 people who could be trusted. The friends we had at BBC said- "Hide the Evidence Abroad" The indictment? 30000 avoid deaths over 35 yrs. The press,.F-bk. twitter. yahoo etc destoy the evidence. Heres our report on the films about backroads. How can this man go around staring at abandoned buildings dwellings businesses without asking the folks round there how they are coping and why the people left there and even left valuable automobiles and trucks to stand and rot. This character spent more time chattin to cows, steers, horses than to the suffering folks. We noiticed that when he showed a "church" it seemed to be in good shape. Aint that typical. Go look at parts of poverty stricken Italy and what do we find but massive luxury buildings. When we first were approached by victims we did not fully believe their tales. Within two yrs we went to the giant HGQ of the Catholic Religion in London and tried to tell them about all the evidence.,they could not care less We went to that Catholic HQ because one of their "faithful" supporters when he had an accident was offered 5 pence by a vicar as a remedy for poverty. We went to five other religions and all politrical orgs, wirth same result. We then found out trhat they are getting handouts thro Govt and or Charity lotterty etc.We were getting threats .Its all about compliance which keeps the Govt in place. When you add sport, art ,drama you got a mirror image of 3rd Reich and Roman empire PR. The kids are the scapegoats We have now found over 26 corrupt Universities and no student responds. That also took place in 1933 Germany. The man doing these films needs to become more human rather trhan play silly games in order to appease the public and get ticks.. When ever he did rarely, manage tro talk to someone the other person was almost imposs to hear. How come? When he fills up with gas theres rarely any view other that the gas hose. He spends ages trying to re enact some crap violent or cop movies and seems to be engrossed with that horrific scene. I reckon hes just usin PR to enhance viewing by giving a clueless ands naive public what they want. How irresponsible. Has he got kids? Our advice? Go do somethin useful. Go work for Trump or Clintons.Theres an Amat Radio station Dallas who transmit every day at 8am to 10 am. 38.40 Bill N frends. They got sheds full of firearms. They say the bad areas are all Democrat but we dont know if its true. We told N Pilozi but no sign of reply. Dont worry about the public will you. ..We are just scum. But the virus is doing some payback. Whjat a shame .Local Govt to us- "If Theres Anything Wrong With Local Govt The public Must Go get a Lawyer" to communicate with the lawyer already paid for.Appeasement and Manipulation aint workin.

    Born and lived most my life in Indiana. Old State Road 40 is a fabulous step back in time. Miss home. Thank you for your road trip. Those are Black Angus. Down in Brown County Indiana you will see towns called Gnaw Bone, and Bear Waller. Common road name will be Grandmaw Barnes Road. Love the small town midwest.

    I am from Indiana and you mentioned towns I didn't know about. LOL, the wind is brisk? That wind can be painful at times... you're from Oklahoma so you understand about the brisk wind.... If you get a chance, get a Pizza King pizza in Indiana! The best! Indiana is beautiful in the fall. In northern Indiana there is a large Amish community. Indiana is known for their Amish towns... It is worth visiting. Also you mentioned the ground rumbling when the train went by. At night when the farmers are farming, you will feel this low rumbling. Every thing around you is dark. The ground starts moving even more. As if something is walking towards you... suddenly you will see a glow. Suddenly you start to hear a low growling.. then there are two eyes in the distance.. it is a farmer on his combine... I miss moments like that. Also James Dean is from Fairmount, IN. He's buried there, too. Also John Mellencamp is from IN. All his videos were shot in IN. But....... I'm sure you already knew about all of this!! Thanks for this video!!! It was great!

      Love that boat ride and the well preserved town! Not to mention the train ride. Many years ago, an Elvis impersonator had an Elvis memorabilia store there, I believe it was called, “A Touch of Memphis”. I looked into his Elvis sunglasses, trying to keep a straight face, and said, “You’ve got a great store here.” To which he replied,...”Thank-you, thank-you very much.” I snorted trying not to burst out laughing.

    I just moved to this area from the east coast and I’ve been exploring and traveling around all of rural Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. Several things become obvious after a short time.
    1. A great civilization was here, just a moment ago. It was bursting with life, confidence, and excitement. It is now well and truly dead.
    2. The golden years were from 1880 to 1930. The most beautiful buildings have these dates etched proudly at the top, along with the last name of the architect. It it obvious that beauty was of upmost importance to these people, not cost. They cared about aesthetics and understood how important it was to a happy society.

    • @sageywavey
      @sageywavey 4 года назад +2

      3. 1930-1990 were still very good years for the people. It was prosperous and the cultural rot and oh-so-wonderful racial “diversity” that defines America now had not yet set in. Still a great time to be an American. They built a lot of ugly buildings in this period but they still had the old town squares and main streets to enjoy.
