Hello my friends. Our sweet corgi Lexi has brought a smile to literally millions of you at this point and we couldn't be more grateful for the views. To know Lexie is to know that she is always at the top of the stairs to greet us and wants nothing more than to play, get tummy rubs and be your best friend.
About a week ago she stopped eating and started sleeping more. We obviously became worried and took her in to the vet. After some blood work and an ultrasound it was determined that she has Cushing's Disease and Acute Kidney Injury. These both are no good and she is now in the hospital beginning treatment in hopes for a recovery. The doctors feel good that after some treatment she might be able to go back to a normal life. Please let this be true! Obviously this diagnosis and treatment is not without expense, and expensive it is. We are already into this $3,000 and more on the way. I know some of you might be wondering why I would ever put this much into a dog, while others of you may not even blink an eye at the thought. Several years ago we had a dog suddenly get very sick and we ended up in a situation where surgery was going to be around $3k. We were also told that there were very grim chances that it would work. After a heartbreaking conversation we chose to put our dog down. It has haunted me every since. I simply cannot do it again. I also believe that Lexi has several years of good life ahead of her. She's only 7! If you can help in anyway to offset this rather large bill, we would be forever grateful. We of course hope that we never have to do something like this again and we are hopeful through the doctor's prognosis that Lexi will have several more years of love to give and many belly rubs to receive!!! It’s actually very classic dog behavior. She can tell the alpha, her owner, is upset so she rolls over and shows her stomach to submit. I think that’s a good sign this guy is a great dog owner.
