Proud of our sikh brothers and sikh religion in general. You go anywhere in the world and feel lost and hungry, search for a Gurudwara there. You will get enough food and place to sleep and also people in Gurudwara will help you on what needs to be done next. Amazing!!!

That was a wonderful visit! Thank you so much for letting us see what goes on in the background. I too have eaten in a gurdwara (sikh temple) in Glasgow. I was so impressed by the welcome I got and by the food! The people seemed very, very chilled and grateful too for their acceptance in Scotland. I play-acted a little bit when sitting down on the long mat: I groaned quite a bit as I sat down and immediately a concerned young woman offered me a side bench to sit on! I had to explain I was only kidding! :-) One of my friends is from sikh parentage but doesn't see it the way I do. But I thik sikhs are lovely people. Thanks for a great video!

Community Service is considered an honour among the Sikhs. Many of those volunteers are influential people in the outside world. But once inside the Golden temple, you'll find them polishing shoes or lending their service in various capacities in the 'langar'. Sikhs comprise only 1.7% of India's total population. But they have marked their presence in every aspect of India's national framework , especially in the field of defence. They are one of the most loved communities in India.

Another beautiful video, I always believe these religious places like Golden temple, gives you so much joy to see how people do not care about your religion, color, cast. They do not care whether you are poor or rich. They just love and respect you. This is why I love my country so much. We have so much diversity that even we do not know how many languages (Unofficial languages) do we speak in India. Yes there are few incidents but still we are one and we proud of our diversity. I always respect other religion and love their festivals. Thanks for visiting GOLDEN TEMPLE. Happy journey to Dharmshala - Himachal. Thanks

    Hey
    Kristyna & Romain
It was so great to have you in INDIA. Just felt like sharing a fact : many people who visit here, get emotional in Golden Temple, Amritsar. It just because the positive aura and purity of the Sikh's Gurus spread among their kids and in this holy place. Also, in your video you mentioned that there are doors from all sides to get inside, just so your subscribers know, it is because, Sikhism never believes in discrimination based on the language and other religions and measures equally whether a rich or poor visits Temple. I hope you had a great time. Enjoy your trip in India.

True equality amongst entire humanity is another key tenet of Sikhism which discards and discourages any kind of discrimination.

Watching this brings back great memories from my own trip to Amritsar. I got the train up from Delhi on a blisteringly hot day and ended up sat next to a Sikh family who were so lovely and kind. They shared their ice water and snacks with me and when we got to Amritsar they were concerned about me getting to my hotel safely (solo woman traveller!) and so they booked a taxi for me, agreeing the price with the driver so I wouldn't have to pay too much. I'll never forget that thoughtful kindness.
The Golden Temple is breathtaking. For some reason I didn't go to the langar - can't remember why but it's a real shame because the philosophy of equality behind it is beautiful and that food looks real good! Will have to return there one day.
Also had a giggle at Romain's sandal tan remembering how my own feet looked like streaky bacon after that trip! Weirdly the most tanned bit of my body after being in India was the backs of my knees - I think from snorkelling...

how has travel had an impact on your life? Favorite part about travel.

It was wonderful watching you both experience sri darbar sahib and it feels sikhs with great pride and love for their guru in see ppl from different backgrounds/cultures like yourselves enjoying it so much. My only advice would be in order to gain max blessings next time have a dip in the sarowar holy water (there is a private enclosure for women to bathe in privacy) and experience the beauty and serenity within the actual darbar sahib gurdwara.
