Thomas Cohn the four point is good when taught right, but it can put you into a bad habit of having too much weight on your hands and putting you off balance. The minute you create a disadvantage, especially coming out of your stance, it can be bad if the O-lineman sees that and k ones he can just handle you.
4 point is really good -, 1 and 8 technique in a 4 man front. If the D End is fast and long enough 4 point is pretty good too. The downside is it takes away a free hand to battle with.
King Willdog I completely agree, once a good base for attack is set up. Your absolutely right about the free hand being taken away too, because it is vital in keeping enough space between you and the O-liner. The use of the 3 point stance becomes even more of an advantage when the lineman is in a two point stance. This creates amazing separation, which is why the two point is almost never taught because it takes away most of the offenses momentum and only being practical in pass situations.
King Willdog if by the 8 technique you are also referring to the 9 as well, then yes I would say be a track star and take off as fast as possible whether it be one hand or two. As long as you are getting to the QB like your Girdle and cleats are on fire.
@@-LadiesMan217- you're correct the 8 and the 9 tech need to be fast regardless of stance and you described it the best way possible. In the end it all comes down to the athlete.
