- We checked out morning wet market in Malaysia, observed local life in the morning, tried economy rice and malaysian dessert for the first time in Penang, Malaysia. This morning wet night market is definitely great place to try various different kind of Malaysian food, shopping for goods and grocery at the same time.
Traveling slow offers you many benefits like being able to live and shop like a local. This is one side of Malaysia we love to experience and the morning markets offer a wide variety of local cultures and dishes. We especially notice the hustle and bustle of Penang like we have never seen before here.

6:38 Banchan Kweh is in Hokkien Chinese, in Malay is called Apam Balik.
There are two type, one is crispy and one is pluffy. Both are heavenly good!
@Dave WA yup agree, I went already to Xiamen, and I saw it by my own eyes.
Dave WA not only into Malaya, but also in Indonesia where they call it Martabak Manis.
Aww, we are so sad we didn't get to explore much of Malaysia. We really need to get back and spend 2-3 months there! Things are so cheap there!
Yes you should.. explore all with open mind.. Malaysia will always welcome you..
I suggest u to go during ramadhan (fasting) season .. It's only one month a year season .. Here, you can go to bazaar where all the traditional cakes and cuisine will be presented during this whole month ... But just for the courtesy , eat it at home or during breakfast as to respect the people fasting during the month ... Btw , following ramadhan , it's a festive season where all the family gathers at their parents or family .. This month people all over will held an open house everywhere and you will also.find rare cuisine during this time .. Enjoy
Rhett and Claire Hope you guys had a wonderful experiences and fun in Malaysia. Malaysia always open or both hands to welcome you back 🤗🤗💞💞
You guys need to do a live stream. I'm 43 years old live in Ohio and have never been outside the United States. Your videos have me thinking of getting a passport. Thank you for sharing your trips with us, it makes winter so much better....
Ahh we do them sometimes! Winters here are much warmer haha
You should go to Langkawi one day.If you go, here is the best places to visit:
1.Underwater World Langkawi
2.Mangrove tour (Kilim National Park)
3.Cenang Beach
4.Langkawi Cable Car
5.Pulau Dayang Bunting Tour
6.3D art Langkawi
7.Makam Mahsuri
8.Langkawi SkyBridge
9.Eagle Square
10.Langkawi Wildlife Park and Birds Paradise
11.Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls
12.Bat Cave
Ahh we have been there and loved it!
You should go PASAR RAMADAN during fasting month you find the all MALAY food more than thousand bazaar ramadan right now and right time....
Ahhh we arent there anymore :(
Did you really expect these foreigners especially whites to sample Malay food during a holy Muslim month? Don't be stupid. They are whites and they hate anything that has got to do with Islam. Just get that and stop asking them to try Malay food during Ramadan. Whites will always be white. Period.
Fariston It takes one to know one ;)

@ZX Official Video terima kasih Tuan. Probably he is a rasist Chinese.
I joined your Patreon, I just love your stuff! I’ll never get to go to the places you go, but following you guys is just about as good!
Aww thank you so much for joining and being here with us! Your support really means the world to us
Awesome job guys, you even went to the market where locals go to. Jelutong market is my fav market - lots of food (cheap and tasty) keep up the good work guys and enjoy penang to the max
It really is an amazing place!
Malaysia was never on my radar, until now! Thank you
You really should visit!
Hehehe, to honour your love for Apam Balik, I will be breaking my fast this evening with that pancake. Can't wait to stuff my face with them :D
U just need a reason to eat them!!!
hahahah
I am yet to throughly visit a market here in Sri Lanka, but I think I might have to! The vibe looks so interesting, seeing people do there everyday things and living their lives. How long are you guys in Penang for??
Ahh we were only there for 30 days
Awesome guys can’t wait for your next blog, stay safe
Thank you so much!
The chicken and rice meal u had is commonly called economy rice, its known for having a variety of foods for a very affordable price, and yes it is not that fresh, some of the food has been sitting out a while, for 1 to 3 hours probably so dont be too suprised if u get a little diarhea...
Another engaging and entertaining video. Nice job.
Thank you so much! :)
Ban chan kueh is more commonly known by the Malay name, Apam Balik. I also find the ones sold by Malay(not Indonesian, gotta double check) tend to be a lot better and SOOOOO much cheaper.
Wowww guys, That place was very similar to Mexico, the market!!!!
Is very nice!!!!
Greetings!!!!
They are kind of similar!
Yeee another market vid thank u so muchh
We know you love them!
when you go to chinese stall ...yeah they call it as " BAN JIAN KUEH " in hokkien.......but when you to malay one.....we call it as " APAM BALIK " ...
Ahhh ok! Thank you!
Looks like Himalayan cliff bee honey. I don't know about Tibet, but in Nepal those bees feed on rhododendron blossoms and create "mad honey" which is famous for its hallucinogenic properties. And, according to a crazy old woman in Annapurna who was doling out samples, it also gives the husbands of the himalayas a certain kind of "energy." I tried a taste and felt a bit giddy. My guide tried a spoonful and disappeared for the rest of the night. Long story short, do your research before you try that stuff or you may be in for a surprise.
Ahh never heard of that but i can tell you this i wasnt how i felt
Bring your own bags when shopping.
We do
U should come to sabah hehe
We plan to!
Durian season in Penang start about mid of May’19 till end of Aug’19. You can have a visit at balik Pulau if you interested.
Ahh ok! Thank you so much!
“Night market on Wednesday” is at farlim tonight. Hope you enjoy your stay in Penang!
Thais wont feel homesick in Malaysia cos there are so many Thai food n ingredients here . There's a large population of Thais in Malaysia particularly the northern region. Yup they celebrate songkran too up north. Malaysians looooove Thai food we mainly cross the border to indulge in the food n of course for the infamous Thai massage. Thank you Thailand.
YESSS! It was so amazing!
Tah loves the aroma of the fish market!
She really does!
come to sarawak and sabah!
We really want to!
I really enjoy your chemistry with each other
Aww thank you so much!
You may get cold meal on preprepared food in the market so to get hot food, the timing is important. Noon time where the food is just prepared....not 3 or 4 pm.....hehe....
Ahhh ok! Thank you!
I also like to eat Banchan Kweh (Pan Cake) and Candol very much! So hungry now 😋😝
So so good!
Yummy in my tummy

Everything there looked so good! definitely looks like a fat kids paradise lol.
hahahaha so so true!
Respeckt melayu malaysian is not a paradise for fat people america is cuz of the burgers
the pancake guy btw was saying "banchan Ku-ey", not "To-ay" ya
Aww thank you so much for the help!
that pancake in Indonesia call Martabak very sweet indeed
Its so so good!
In Malaysia, Murtabak is roti canai fill with beef or chicken or sometime mutton/lamb curry + egg.
@@HadiAsadGDalHaj yes its really different my friend here Martabak (usually call martabak bangka) has topping such as cheese, ovomaltine, toblerone chocolate, oreo, red velvet and so on, while the original contain only butter peanut chocolate and sesame
@@wempisaoli Do go to Putrajaya bazaar ramadan they have apam balik with varieties of fillings...yummsss
@@ftinftin8937 ok my friend i will if i visit malaysia thank you

As a westerner do you find the food in the markets difficult to adjust to or is it that you’ve been in Asian countries so long you’ve become accustomed to it? I find initially I have minor issues but they quickly dissolve in a matter of days.
Ahh i know what you mean. I guess for me its more of the spice level i need to adjust to. The food generally doesn't bother me
Seems no matter where I go it takes a day or two to adjust. More so in Asia and Africa though
I love your red top Tah
Thank you so much
Try cendol durian cendol pulut
Ahh we will make sure to try that next time!
Fun fact, honey is the only food known to have no expiration 😲
WOW! Never knew that! So cool!
Which part of the States are you from, Jimmy? How long do you guys plan on staying in Penang?
Ahhh i am from NY
Cool. Texan here. Maybe we'll bump into you guys in penang in July
Curious about that honey and comb🤔...
That seller is so bluffing. What honey more than 100 years old selling only rm50? I'm traveling in Tibet and Nepal for more than 9 months now I have seen the rock honey here.
Ahhh i dont know it was crazy though!
Are you guys still in malaysia and how long for ?
