I just wanted to let you guys know that you've changed my life. About a year ago I started watching your videos. Since then I started bike touring, broke my bike and bought a new cool one. This summer I'm going to ride the XWA route across Washington state. Thank you for inspiring me.
Wow well done! You're doing so well physically and also mentally, considering the constant onslaught of the bugs some days. You both remain so calm and just shrug it off! I've experienced Scottish midges, but their Alaskan cousins look a million times worse! Nice to see how well your tent's holding up. I have the same model and it must be reassuring to have a safe, dry shelter each night. Good luck for the rest of your adventures..
loving keeping up with the vids, if you could do another gear breakdown on how your kit has evolved over time from the last time you went over your bikes. Thank you!
Well done! (Good memories - I cycled the Dalton in July 2019) At 14:25 yes it is surreal under the midnight sun - no sunrise or sunset, no sense of time, no sense of direction since the sun could be anywhere in the sky. I felt like I was floating through space. 26:40 Agree it was daunting to approach Beaver Slide hill (well-named), which is just in-your-face for miles.
Carrying all that weight up those hills was quite a task, the scenery sure helps in those cases! Hard to believe it was mid June😂I'm sure it was very daunting seeing those huge climbs in the distance! Those mosquitos were relentless, Jenny asked for rain and she sure got it😂Awesome video guys👍
Good grief! What a ride that must've been. I couldn't do it seeing that sign at the beginning showing the distance to Fairbanks. Way to go, great scenery, keep on truckin'.
If passing through the Colorado Rockies and you need a safe place to camp/shower, etc., our yard is just off Hwy 72, 4 miles north of Ward, CO, 20 miles northwest of Boulder, CO. No mosquitos. If you prefer, quite a bit of BLM in the area, busy depending on season.
Thank you, we really appreciate that! We're a little behind on video editing but did make it down to the Colorado Rockies - we're currently taking a winter break here!
Last time I checked in w you guys you were in s.e. Asia. I was surprised to see you all in Alaska, of all places wearing gloves and long pants and carrying 20 lbs of food. I’d hate to be humping that load.
I think you guys are great. Really enjoying your adventure. I am interested in doing something similar and would like to see how you box your bikes and consolidate your panniers for air travel. you look like though it may be tough, your still having the time of your lives🤓
wow that is the definition of fortitude I can relate as tramping in New Zealand years ago eight days of gorgeous scenery but boy what sand flies made the scenery impossible to enjoy lovely rivers but couldn't expose so much as a fingertip so no swimming Cheerst 33:14
Thanks for showing us the beauty of Alaska. When you left that first morning, in the fog, I thought that this was going to be horrible, but it got better and better. I am sure the Russians regret they sold Alaska to the USA in 1867 for $7.2 million (that is less than 2 cents an acre!!)
Great video I will follow your pedals strokes in 2025 down the Dalton. Curious, what type of tires did you use and what width were the tires? Thanks and keep pedaling.
Worst Case Scenario: being mauled by mosquitos and bears at the same time, ha, ha! Cycletouring Alaska in the shoulder seasons avoids the mosquito maulings. May be brisk but if you ask me it's worth it to avoid the Alaska midsummer mozzies.
Gosh poor Jenny! her face looked a bit swollen from the skeeter bites. Though our United States wilderness is undeniably gorgeous, It's just much too expansive for me to consider cycling it (IMHO). I did the x-country via Amtrak. Convenient, sometimes running behind but comfy and with some awesome views. Sadly, I'm reminded of our friend Iohan that rode those parts in the middle of winter(!). If you decide on riding the "lower 48s", you may have to switch your alertness mindset to that of SE Asia traffic (or worse) Mayhaps you've been spoiled by Europe and Japan by their courtesy and bicycle infrastructure, here driving habits are horrendous to the point of entitlement especially in a large city. The PCH should be OK and worth the risk for the vistas. The GDMBR is another option. Cheers and safe riding!
We did it in mid-June because we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to make it to Colorado before winter hit. If you're doing the Dalton by itself and can go anytime, I think late summer (August) might have less mosquitoes.
When we got to Fairbanks we purchase spray on deet and coated our clothes in permethrin, both of which helped a noticeable amount. Admittedly the bugs were never as bad once we were south of Fairbanks.
Agreed. The one thing we'll say is that the road wouldn't exist if it weren't for the pipeline, because the only reason the road was built is to service the pipeline and the oil fields.
Thank you so much for the offer! We're a bit behind on video editing and working through footage that was shot this past summer, so we've already passed through Whitehorse. We loved Canada so maybe we will return someday!
Мадведица с медвежатами смотрела на вас. Это очень опасно. Если бы медведица увидела в вас опасность, то вы не смогли бы убежать. Медведь бежит со скоростью до 50 км/час. Какие у вас были средства защиты?
God I know that no camping spot delema, so tired, then turn corner big hill, no water, but can’t go on, tent on side of road, Karen’s criticizing and threatening like somehow crime problem is you. Other times better than 5 star hotel. Hate mosquitoes too, last year discovered they don’t like coffee grounds, going to try coffee and ash mixture next year, hate bug spray
Travel vids with non intrusive music that stays where it belongs: in the background. So fresh, so relaxing and beautiful.

That is so awesome, we're glad to hear that you've gotten into bike touring! Best of luck on your ride this summer!!
Looks like a great trip - and beautifully edited

Oh man, the Dalton.... Bucket list location! Great work guys!

I rode the Dalton on the start of my RTW trip in 2010 and it was AMAZING ....good to see it in HD ! thanks for sharing!!
30:20 😂😂 so cute and funny. Bless her. Great journey guys 💪
I remember the late Iohan Gueorguiev once cycled over there.
Still missing him, he opened his soul to many and touched us on another level 😢
Carrying all that weight up those hills was quite a task, the scenery sure helps in those cases! Hard to believe it was mid June😂I'm sure it was very daunting seeing those huge climbs in the distance! Those mosquitos were relentless, Jenny asked for rain and she sure got it😂Awesome video guys👍
I also bought several cookies, each direction. They are really good!
Good grief! What a ride that must've been. I couldn't do it seeing that sign at the beginning showing the distance to Fairbanks. Way to go, great scenery, keep on truckin'.
Lovely ❤
Nice views, tunes. Nice to see my old stomping grounds with same views. Cities change landscapes age in horizons. Thanks!
You two are tough. I would have rented a van, put the bikes in, parked , ride awhile and bikes back in the van and repeat 😅

Thanks for sharing this experience. You made it look so easy but I am sure it was not. I would have loved to see your feast in Coldfoot.
You two are so intrepid - my hat's off to you !
The journey goes on 🧿

Awesome 😎
Beautiful places!)

Well done. Too many mosquitoes and trucks 😂

so no swimming

Man I understand now why you guys are taking a break this trip looked brutal.
' darn. i missed another one.; hope to get back on butt an ride on. got bikes, butt nun gud nuff two go.

Wow very cool i was wondering how far out your videos where is about 7 months out
Now this is one of the best vids I have seen and the commentary is great but why not show scenery as you ride.
Great video I will follow your pedals strokes in 2025 down the Dalton. Curious, what type of tires did you use and what width were the tires? Thanks and keep pedaling.
Alaska, the best real estate purchase!
Great to see you two!
Awesome spectacular scenery!
yes because the island of Hawaii and Mexico did not want to be part of america, but they gave them no choice
great video how was it getting your bikes from Japan to Prudhoe Bay
Wonderful video. Aren’t you scared of bears?
…..btw , the Jones bar that good?
좋아요 좋아 멋지고 아름답습니다
cool❤
Thanks, Alaska on bicycle is off my wish list, I don't like mosquitos. I would visit Alaska, but not on a bike and doing wild camping.
Mosquitos would be annoying but bears would be scary
Worst Case Scenario: being mauled by mosquitos and bears at the same time, ha, ha! Cycletouring Alaska in the shoulder seasons avoids the mosquito maulings. May be brisk but if you ask me it's worth it to avoid the Alaska midsummer mozzies.

When did you ride the Dalton, and what month do you recommend for best weather and less mosquitoes?

❤❤❤
When she gets down, it’s gotta be bad!
What camera do you use for your fantastic videos? 😁
Still shots are Fuji XT4 and anytime the camera is moving it is a GoPro, either a Hero 8 (Andrew) or Hero 11 (Jenny).
Cheese sticks is good and healthy(protein and calcium)
👍
Wow keren bos
I'm wondering if a mosquitoes repelent roll on would work on that situation?
When we got to Fairbanks we purchase spray on deet and coated our clothes in permethrin, both of which helped a noticeable amount. Admittedly the bugs were never as bad once we were south of Fairbanks.
What diameter tyres did you run?
We were on 29x2.0 tires.
Nice sis 🙏👌👍kanasina dari 🙏
Weren't you afraid of a bear visit during the night?
I know I would be even in the daytime 😅
Bears were definitely a big concern! We were really careful about cooking and storing our food/scented items far away from our tent.
You need to invest in a Thermacell. No more mosquitos around you.
That pipeline is such an unfortunate eyesore
Agreed. The one thing we'll say is that the road wouldn't exist if it weren't for the pipeline, because the only reason the road was built is to service the pipeline and the oil fields.
Can I buy you supper when you travel through Whitehorse. Ill be back in whse the beginning of March. Hopefully I can me you. cheers
Thank you so much for the offer! We're a bit behind on video editing and working through footage that was shot this past summer, so we've already passed through Whitehorse. We loved Canada so maybe we will return someday!

Our camera was very zoomed in, the bear was probably a mile or more away from us. We did have bear spray for protection as well.
