intresting point of view. I think that simply we have no idea of how the health works, because it is not profitable. The hollistic medicine promises solutions but it seems that everyone is not ready for that, specially if there is few knowledge and aprooval available.

I take Aripiprazole (AKA Abilify), and I have DEFINITELY experienced weight gain: over 20 lbs, which has seen a significant change in my body shape, and has got me down. It has also caused a rise in my, (or at least, affected) my cholesterol levels, (which obviously isn't a good thing). The doctors have now put my Statins up, which is also not a good thing! Aripiprazole is being used to treat my Schizoaffective Disorder (NOT depression, which I also suffered from for donkey's years, as well as bipolar disorder). I would love to hear more insights from you on this particular drug.

I was on 400mgs a month of the Injectable version for 2 months. It made made so sick. First to start i couldn't stay still than i didn't feel like myself after that it threw me into a deep depression which i have been battling for the last couple of months.

That is the case with most of the psychoactive drugs. Try talking to your doctor about it. Sometimes decreasing the dose helps, other times you need to switch to some other drug.

Before I say what I want to say, no I am not someone hired by Otsuka America or BMS to talk about how good Abilify is, I'm not a healthcare professional, and I am not being paid to take it. I am a real patient with bipolar disorder type 1 with psychotic feature, who has had great success with Abilify. I have had some side effects of it, but none of the major or serious ones you hear about. If anything, I have lost weight on Abilify that I have gained from other antipsychotics. I will say this though, there is no such thing as a magic pill. I still have a very long way to go until I am i remission from bipolar disorder, but I am better now than I was years ago, and part of that is help from the Abilify.

I have borderline disorder and the 6.5 month period of being on this medication was horrible. I drank less than 2.5mg in combination with lorazepam once a day. I had the impression that I was constantly in a state of increased stress, my vision was blurry and I could not sit still in the same place. I also had involuntary limb twitching. I have seen that it is even given to children to calm their irritability, and that many people praise this remedy. I am confused. The positive thing is that you don't have a problem with willpower. I did a bunch of work for that period and was "functional"

@@aleksabajic2221 [ my current's girlfriend's mom killed herself with "poison". Now who defines what is a poison and what is not? What of people with self-interest make those definitions and we have a saying in german : the dose makes the poison. I gained about 10 kilograms in one month of taking abilify and my constitution never became the same as before (my guts suffered and the guts are the continuation of the digestion, that begins with the mouth). One side-effect of abilify (very rare but still): "sudden unexplicable death", which sounds like: if I have I choice, why should I take it? So... please doctors in the world: give your patients a choice stead of forcing them to swallow, whatever you push them to (into them). ]

my son has been on abilify for high function autism..since age 8.I refused to ever increase his dosage. I want him off. He is almost 18.I have request him go through detox as abilify, I have read creates terrible withdraw. I am no doctor, so I should not be messing with my sons dosage in home. The insurance is denying any type of detox. He has side effects and metabolic issues proven from labs. Ins. states they will only detox if this is a 'overdose' so you will save a purposeful O.D. and not a child who has been on long term medication -that is most likely not effective an hurting his full ability to live ?
I feel so strong about this case, I am fed up and asking for help .

This abilify makes me chronically depressed. It makes me overly tired impaired ,fat and unmotivated. Any spirituality or creative mental inspiration is out the window on this medicine. I feel horrible. My muscles cramp and I cannot excersise. I tried antidepressants but they make me so depressed I am border line suicidal with amnesia on them. I get rashes and can't breath on them either. I never knew what real depression was until abilify.

As far as suicidal thoughts ??? errrr I know why because you can feel so good or just a little better than the hell you been in ,you go and do what you want .Abilify wrecked my life and made me a successful professional.
