    Abilify was more activating actually.
    I felt motivated to do my chores 2h after taking it.
    My mom was taking abilify and she started to develop eps after a few months. Rexulti works for her bipolar depression and abilify had no effect on it.

    I’ve been on abilify in the past and it seemed okay to begin with, but as the weeks passed it definitely didn’t feel like a dopamine agonist, it’s really an antagonist with a bit of fanciful “pro-dopamine” marketing behind it to make it seem more seductive.
    It made me subdued just like the other antipsychotics I have tried it is no different from them. If it genuinely had any capacity to increase dopamine they wouldn’t have approved it for schizophrenia and psychosis since they are heavily associated with the model of excess dopamine activity.

    • @mauriciojr.4428
      @mauriciojr.4428 7 месяцев назад

      That's not how partial agonists work, you need to study more.

    • @cultfiction3865
      @cultfiction3865 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@mauriciojr.4428 I know how they work. If there is too much dopamine they block the receptors. And if there isn’t enough dopamine they have a mild agonist activity. But since it’s at least 70% antagonist any dopamine increase isn’t likely to very meaningful at a clinical level.

    On antidepressant withdrawal:
    I was on Setraline 150 MG for 5 months. I stopped abruptly. Now it has been 12 months since I have stopped. My executive functioning is gone - I can’t take any decisions or concentrate for even 10 minutes. I can’t work. I feel anxious and blank and cannot control my anger , throw things around, shout at people around me. No one wants to be with me. I feel lonely and don’t want to live.
    Should I reinstate? It’s been 12 months since I have been off them.
    I live in India. Doctors are few and they don’t know about protracted withdrawal. Lot of them even misdiagnose.

      I’ve recently switched from sertraline to Escitalopram and noticed myself getting withdrawal symptoms from sertraline even though it’s not supposed to happen from a direct switch according to many sources since they are members of the same drug class. So it’s chilling to think how bad it must be affecting you since stopping abruptly.
      If all this is happening to you then you should go on something or you are just existing instead of living. My recommendation would probably be to ask for a tricyclic antidepressant instead since they have much milder withdrawal symptoms and don’t cause rebound depression like SSRI withdrawal(something specialists don’t like to admit)
      That’s one option. If you prefer not to do that then you could buy some psilocybin mushrooms from a reputable supplier or even buy your own growkit and try using them around once every week or two. LSD is also meant to work but always important to research the correct dosages first and do your research.
      Good luck

    Rexulti made me sleep for a whole week after I started taking it. Abilify didn't do that to me that I remember. (I was on 15 mg of Abilify when my psychiatrist switched it to Rexulti, now I take 1 mg of Rexulti)
    I also gained like 10 kg after I started taking Rexulti... But it did help with the mood swings more than Abilify did, especially with manic episodes

    Abilify was awful for me personally. The insatiable cravings for sugar and weight gain were terrible. Rexulti worked very very well, I didn’t experience the cravings or weight gain, but my triglycerides were over 400. Thank you so much for your continued help. I was curious to know what do you think helps the most with rumination?

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  11 месяцев назад +1

      Good CBT therapy can help with rumination as well as mindfulness based therapy. Therapy is first line, if I have to use a medication, I'd start with Fluvoxamine. Supplements that I have seen help with this are phosphatidyl choline and phosphatidyl serine, as long as a person has enough Omega-3's, if not we add Omega-3's.

    • @nerdbamarich2063
      @nerdbamarich2063 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@LevelheadedMind thank you so incredibly much I'm seeing the psychiatrist now and I'm actually on effexor. I'll mention the supplements to her the next time I see her. My rumination causes physical sensations that I seem to get stuck in. All of this started after I had covid.

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  11 месяцев назад +1

      Ok, that makes sense, then it is most likely a result of inflammation and even elevated cortisol from adrenal response post COVID. In this case, I would try phosphatidyl serine (PS), soy-free is best.

    • @nerdbamarich2063
      @nerdbamarich2063 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@LevelheadedMind thank you so incredibly much. I may end up making you my psychiatrist. I'm in Texas tho. Can I take that vitamin along with the venlafaxine that I'm taking. And I've been like this for about a year because last year in August is when I caught covid. Initially I couldn't sleep I had severe insomnia and prior to having covid I had anxiety but it became worse after having it. They're calling it long covid but doctors are still studying it.

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@nerdbamarich2063 there are no interactions with PS and venlafaxine. You will want to take it at the time your symptoms are usually the worst. Start at 150mg if no effect increase to 300mg. If still not effective, then this will not work for you. You should notice some decrease in anxiety, and ruminative thoughts the same day you take it. The effects improve over time and it will also lower cortisol in the long run. However, with long COVID you want to focus on decreasing inflammation, so eat an anti-inflammatory diet as well. Unfortunately, I cannot be your psychiatrist since I am licensed in FL. However, I can guide you through your treatment process with education, and coaching practices. If you need further assistance you can schedule a consult here: www.levelheadedmind.com/mental-health-coaching
      I wish you well and hope you start feeling better soon!

    I'm planning to stop now because my doctor has failed to provide me information about the side effects and the duration of side effects I would have to endure while taking this drug.
