  • I can’t believe I haven’t posted this opening title sequence before now, but I haven’t. It comes, of course, from the 1984-1985 ITV/Granada Television series "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes," starring Jeremy Brett as Holmes and David Burke as Dr. John H. Watson.
As I understand it, ITV and Granada continued to adapt Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic Holmes tales through 1994, but later series were broadcast under the names of other short-story collections: "The Return of Sherlock Holmes," "The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes," and "The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes." Brett starred in all of them, but Edward Hardwicke took over as Watson beginning in 1986.
The theme music here was composed by Patrick Gowers.
