✋Hello! Today we will go for a walk in the castle grounds in historical Osaka. This five-story castle is one of the most characteristic and valued buildings in the country, and its history dates back over 440 years.
Osaka Castle was built in 1583 on the former site of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple by Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a feudal lord and warrior of the Sengoku period. The castle was destroyed and rebuilt many times, mainly as a result of wars, but in 1665 the main castle tower was destroyed by lightning. Fortunately the main structure survived World War II, and the castle is recognized as a "historical place". There is a park next to the castle with plenty of green areas, gardens, sports facilities, an arena (Osakajo Hall) and a shrine. During the cherry blossom season, usually in early April, the castle park is one of the most popular places to admire trees in Osaka.
