    Hi guys and thanks for stopping by! My name is Melissa and I have been a police officer for just about 15 years now! I am currently a lieutenant in a large metropolitan police department and I created this video to assist you with your oral interview processes to become a police officer! I have also participated in oral interview panels as well as promotional oral interview panels.
    I have also been lucky enough to participate as an assessor in police oral interview promotional processes and much of my advise comes from what I have experienced in these panels. **These are just my personal thoughts and opinions. They may not be the same as yours! And that's ok!** I hope you find some value and/or entertainment in this video.
    Thank you so much for your love and support! I can’t wait to see you in my next video!

    I’ve recently completed the hiring/ competition for my local PD, and will be hearing this week if I have been selected. You provided so many great tips, and all though I watched and listened to a lot of content related to police interview prep before my panel interview - I wish I would have had this particular video prior to reference as well.
    Thanks for this video!

    Hey cop mom. I have a question my oral interview is in August and I don't have much life experience I have to speak for 10 minutes I started working on what I would say. But when I read it im only 2 minutes in.

    • @copmom911
      @copmom911  Месяц назад +1

      Hey! And are you including any and all relevant things? You have to speak for 10 minutes on it? I would include things I could discuss about overcoming obstacles, achieving goals, work ethic, etc. For example, I worked in customer service in high school and was promoted to a front end supervisor due to experience, multitasking ability, working well with others. To some this may have seemed insignificant but I expanded on it. Or discuss a goal you had and how you achieved it…even in your personal life. Many people discredit their own achievements and abilities. I was 21 when I became an officer and didn’t have much “life experience” but I expanded on what I had done and how it would serve me as an officer. While I am not opposed to people going into law enforcement later in life, there is some truth in teaching an old dog new tricks. Many agencies are looking for young people eager to learn and mold them into what they want! 💙

      @@copmom911 Yes, I have to tell about myself for 10 minutes or I'll be docked points. I wanna thank you for the advice because I was told the chances of us hiring someone straight out of high school are low. Reminder I'm an 18 grad student who always strived to be in enforcement since I was a little kid. If I do get hired at the department I want to be hired to I'd be the youngest ever hired the youngest they just hired was 20.

    Hey, whats the best way to answer if they ask you, "How do you feel about using deadly force?" What answer are they looking for, and whats the best way to answer?

    • @copmom911
      @copmom911  11 дней назад

      I'm not sure what they are looking for...but my response would be how you honestly feel. In general, no police officer wants to use deadly force, however that is sometimes necessary to protect ourselves or others. My desire to live and/or protect others is stronger than someone else's to kill me 💙

      @@copmom911 Okay, thanks! And I don't, but I can purchase one if I need to. I went with a blue Oxford, navy tie, and dark gray slacks. It's not a good idea to go without a jacket is it?
