This anime inspired me to 'jump into the deep' as it where, and chase one of my dreams. Last month i traveled alone, by motorcycle, from Tokyo in East Japan to Nagasaki at the far West Kyushu coast. One of the best experiences of my life, and i strongly suggest all of you do not lose touch with your dreams. :-)
when they shout out "IN YOUR FACE!!" when they got there to everyone who said that they couldnt make it is easily one of my favorite anime moments from last year
I think it was even nicer that after the girls said in your face , the entire crew repeated it. With the context of how the crew got there showing they had those exact same issues and it was a relief for the entire crew.
This anime pretty much took my feelings as a kid and put it in an anime. The feeling of always wanting to go somewhere far and away from home with my friends.
I mean yes and no , but it tears your heart open in the happy way. Its a tear jerker but one more out of happiness aside from one scene that was actually really sad.

This isn't a normal slice of life. I don't even think it should be considered one. It has such a unique story and premise, and is very inspirational. I mean how many shows out there are about going to Antarctica? Instantly top 5 anime for me, this show has everything. Good story, well written characters, funny, and some genuinely deep moments, and it'll even make you tear up. Almost a perfect anime. Hell, maybe it is perfect, idk. But this one is gonna stick with me for sure.

I owe it to the push this series gave me. Even if no one else believes in you you must always believe in yourself.

In this OP the sun is setting towards the right side (1:12), which is wrong for the Southern Hemisphere. In the following openings (I guess ep 3 and on) they corrected this short sequence and put the sun setting towards the left side, as it actually happens.
Nostalgic jawn, I remember being like 12 and watching this anime and being sad because i wanted to have friends and do fun things I would always imagine myself as getting to be in the show and be their friend

I'm gonna put it to you like this. This show is as close to perfect as you can get. A real shame this flew under the radar during Winter 2018 because it's easily one of the best of 2018 and for me personally only bested by Skilled Teaser Takagi-san for 2018.
yotsubafanfan well he’s not wrong.. the way that “i check” to see if an anime did really good is with the number of youtube views for their anime openings, and this one doesn’t have that many views to be considered a BIG hit. I agree with zalure that this kinda stayed under the radar tbh

This series made my cry hard in the most random of things, but this series also taught me the beauty of such random events. My gratitude to Madhouse for this unsung hero of a series. This truly was 2018's best anime.
i remember i only watched this because it got anime of the year on 2018 or 2019 i think. and i watched it to find out HOW this got that prize. when i finished i found out why and it was truly deserved.
This is the most beautiful anime I've ever seen, every single episode after episode 2 had me crying by the end. A lot of what the main girls do and talk about is stuff I dreamed of doing when I was a kid but never ended up pursuing. Riding an Icebreaker, going to the arctic, and seeing the Aurora Borealis. I never thought I'd have any regrets but this anime reminded me that the childhood dream I once was so passionate about achieving is still there somewhere and 23 years in I regret not chasing it when I had the chance. I hope A Place Further Than the Universe inspires others to chase their dreams like I never did
Ever since this anime first came out, I was still in highschool. And years later alot of my dreams have come true because of this anime. I took risk, went travelling solo, and personal journeys. They've all been incredible. And i always think about it when pushing myself for something greater and achieving my future dreams. Its such an amazing anime series i recommend for anyone.

Violet evergarden is more emotional imo. The only episode that affected me a lot was ep. 12. Whereas anything in the 2nd half of violet evergarden is that x 100
Yeah, no. The manga is being adapted from the anime, this was a Madhouse Original™. The story is perfect as it is, it has a clear beginning and end with no ends left untied for a sequel.
I don't think a sequel will ruin anything though. The message isn't tainted if they go on anather journey it only makes it even better. A sequel would be nice man... atleast that's my opinion and I don't think anybody can change my mind on my opinions for a sequel.

Unquestionably one of the best anime of all time, in every genre. One of only three anime (among the hundreds I've watched) that I've rated with a perfect 10/10 on MAL. One of the very few anime, or works in general, that might change your life. These words do not really do this anime justice, you need to watch it (in the original dialogue) to understand what I mean..
I'd say you have good taste and was curious about the other 2 shows, but after seeing bakemonogatari rated 5 and aot and my hero academia 9 I'm just speechless
I come back to this every once and awhile just to remind myself to keep living everyday like it is my last 😊 life since I first watched this show has really been full of adventure
