My granddaughter was born few days ago in 33 week. She is using gastric tube and I wonder how long this will last? When she will start drinking from breast?

It really depends. Usually preemies are ready for the bottle/breast between 34-36 gestational age, but in my practice I see babies who did it when they were 32 and some who weren't ready at 38. Neonates with decreased musle tension (hypotonia) have bigger troubles with eating and they can start to eat later (closer to full term). We try not rush this process and we wait until baby is ready. Sometimes it is fast and sometimes we have to be patient. I wish you all the best and congratulations on having a granddaughter! :)
