As a German, I recommend searching for the individual songs on RUclips and listening to them in full. These extremely short excerpts somehow don't do the songs justice.
The 80s were my childhood and there are many more good songs from that time.

Yes, even though Milli Vanilli sung with Playback, the songs were pretty good.
And the 70's - 90's, and probably the early 00's too, were a great time for music

@@AnthyrionIt wasn’t even their own voices on the playback… the „duo“ were two dancers mimicking, the actual singers were studio musicians, seriously exploited by producer Frank Farian. iirc it was the same kind of, well, in my opinion: con with „Boney M“ in the 1970s - and the same producer.

@@Roberternst72 Yes, i know. And i wouldn't be surprised, if the male voice of Boney M wasn't the real voice of the singer

Junimond by Rio Reiser (published 1986) will show you a different side of german music. Worth to look into!

The most remarkable thing is honestly the high proportion of Austrian Songs. Especially Falco. Also tended to age better than most.

Pop spngs are called Schlager. Yes, as Kardogan wrote, research the originals and listen to them slowly one after the other. Herbert Groenemeyer (2 songs there) is great: Menschen (=pe0ple), and I forgot what was the other one.. Also Modern Talking Louie Louie and Atlantis. Good to dance on!! Also look up Nena, she is fantastic!! 99 Luft ballons (99 air balloons) and Ich bleibe im Bett (=I will stay in bed). Have fun!

The number of especially older people not speaking english was still very high in the 80ies, so they'd actually prefer german texts. But the labels and producers liked to do english songs, because they could sell them on an international market to way more people.

Hey there i have to explain something. Not every of this Songs are from Germany. Falco, Opus and EAV are from Austria. But they was very Popular in Germany. Falco was very Popular in the USA too. I am from East Germany and not every Song you see in the Video was allowed hear before the Wall fall down. So you see in the Video the Most popular Songs from West Germany not from East Germany in that Time.

Well it was "their era" until it came out that Milli Vanilli weren't actually singing themselves, but just lip-syncing. Was a huge scandal back then. Tragic even, one of the singers couldn't cope and killed himself years later.

Don't know why Fran Farian never made a secret out of it. He said i just need 2 guys for public. Music and singing i do on my own i just don't want to be seen.🤷‍♂️

Hi guys, all Songs were German or Austrian.
German artists or German producers while the Lyrics were english. English is a common second language in Germany.
    Greetings from northern Germany ♥️🇩🇪

@@sisuguillam5109 I agree, I was born in '77 and listened to (hard) rock (like Scorpions, IronMaiden..), early techno ('das Boot', 'Captain Future', Marusha, SvenVäth... ), German rap (start of Fanta4) in the late 80s / 90s... just the time when you go to parties (or first Loveparades) as a teenager. The parents listened to german Schlager (Hitparade) such as Flippers, while the grandparents listened to Heino, Heintje and german folk music (Musikantenstadl).
