Euh, the Dutch Navy has 2 amphibious assault ships, the Rotterdam and Johan de Witt. This one is not an assault ship.
The Karel Doorman is basically a replenishment ship for the navy, but in a secondary role it can support the assault ships with up to 5000 tons of cargo, ammo and vehicles. To be transported ashore it needs LCU's from the assualt ships, or a port. Though the ship carries 2 small LCVP's on davits it has no internal dock for LCU's.

This class of ship would be a great anti-pirate vessel for areas like the seas off Somalia. Give a few up grades for anti-missile/air defense and a large deck solely for crew moral. High endurance, fast when need be. Give it Sea Vipers and Naval surveillance helos. With commando training areas, large commando quarters and bays. Transport helos for raids. Go fast boats in the well deck for commando boats. Seriously the perfect pirate hunter.

I remember when Canada came up with the idea of a Joint Support Ship, a light troop/equipment carrier and a AOR in one, while Canada fumbled around the Netherlands built this beauty while Canada still has yet to build its 2 AOR's for the navy, this was over a decade ago.

Ireland is looking to buy an (MRV) multi-role vessel, and this ship recently visited Ireland. An Irish helicopter was allowed to land on the deck.Normally we would buy from the UK, but because of Brexit we will buy from an EU member state.

Well, according to reports, the Irish Ministry of Defense is working on a new Multi-Role Vessel (MRV) tender, which would allow the Irish Naval Service to respond to large-scale humanitarian crises. Do you have any suggestions for future content?

Why do they need amphib capabilities? neither country does much militarily on the international scene. Who do they plan to invade with this ship? They cant even offer support to Greece or Cyprus, both EU member states, vs Turkey.

It's a joint logistic support ship. It has 3 main tasks:
      1. Resupplying other ships at sea.
      2. Taking large amounts supplies or people
      to crisis areas.
      3. To act as a base on the water.
For example, It has been used to ship vehicles and meterials to Sint Maarten when hurricane irma hit.

Turkey also an aspiring EU member state, and al named nations are part of NATO, in these situations it is normal for other member nations to not takes sides, this is an internal conflict that both Turkey and Greece need to figure out on their own.
