Nice! I did it back in 07 after playing for a few years, and over 1000 hours on the game. One of my finest achievements in gaming. That's why my handle has been MasterNinja ever since 😁
Jesus, master ninja against the lady demon first time you fight her was awful. Congratulations! I beat master ninja and then started a file on ninja dog and it was like playing with cheat codes
I loved Ninja Gaiden on the OG Xbox. I played through it multiple times on my 360. My disk died and I was contemplating getting an Xbox One. While watching this video I got inspired. I plugged in and updated my original Xbox 360 20GB. Tried my disk, but no go. Went to the store and bought Ninja Gaiden Black for $10...worth it at twice the price.
This is by far one of the best runs I've ever seen of a game on GDQ. I love the commentary and it helps that this is a game I've been interested in as an outsider for a long time. Too bad that it isn't on any platform I have ...
Same, if this was on PC that would be amazing. I am not one of the people on the panel, I am just getting into speedrunning Ninja Gaiden Black. The game that I run the most is Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360. Maybe next time!
One of my favorite games, sad that I missed this excellent run live. I particularly love how this game handled difficulty; adding new enemy types, new surprise/changed encounters & items placements, a new series of difficult bosses, and by giving existing bosses minions. Really made a new run on a harder difficulty feel special instead of just increasing numbers on enemy damage like most games.
Man one of the most underated badass greatest games of all time. I remember beating this over and over and over. And even the hardest mode. My god it was ridiculously hard. I remember screaming and cussing this game out like no other. I was a glutton for this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Games Done Quick, thank you so much for making the start of the video so close to the start of the run. I know it's a small thing, but it's much appreciated.
I wish people would look at the mechanics of this game in more detail. The way team ninja designed Ryu to home in on enemies is one of the reasons it's so great. Between wind path run/stun and just the way weapon swings would subtly turn Ryu first and them connect was amazing.
I've never heard of this game but I've never been more attracted to media by the very movement of the character, it just looks so fun and it perfectly captures my imagination.
I've spent too many hours on this, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. Just seeing the speedrun on the first two levels and its already impressive. These games, for those wanting a real challenge in gaming, truly push your limits and its rewarding. Seen the whole thing, outstanding!
NG:B was a personal favorite because it is REALLY a game that you can clearly see the progress you've made - because the game forces you to get better. My first playthrough I think I died around 100 times on normal. After beating Hard (with another 100 deaths), I went through a second time on normal without a single death. Never got around to beating Master, but this speedrun really brought me back.
Definitely one of the best action games ever made. Awesome gameplay and insanely good graphics for it's time. Thanks for the great run, was tons of fun to watch.
This is one of my favorite games of all time, love seeing a speed run of it! Interesting how this run is basically playing the game the way it was intended to be played, just at a high level
Put in a bowl with a small amount of water and cover with damp paper towel. Microwave for thirty seconds, stir, and microwave for another 30. Mix in salt and butter, and enjoy. That my favorite way to *EAT* *BROCCOLI.*
Picking up where I left off, and, damn. All I can say is hats off to anyone with the balls to speedrun this game. I do want to see hurricane pack speedruns, though... Preferably on upper difficulties. #CalledOut. Let's see it, speedrun community. I'll give my first donation, and make it a good one, as soon as I see an upper-tier difficulty hurricane pack run.
Thanks for the fantastic run Mikekanis! Been waiting for another GDQ NGB run since Caleb’s back in... 2013? True to commentary this was quite a different and very entertaining run. Bravo guys.
The most unbroken game ever made. Are there any glitches at all? You ace this game, or you die. Ninja Gaiden on Master difficulty makes Dark Souls look like Barbie. The fastest and meanest players only. No strats. Just pure skill.
Amazing run. Not sure who the blonde guy on the left is but your enthusiasm and energy for the runner was great to watch from start to finish! Fantastic commentary!
I just realized that in the 2000s, there were quite a few games that looked, played and felt similar to this. Devil May Cry games, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, Lament of Innocence. That semi-open world, hack n' slash type of game. Don't quite know if they had a name for these games but yeah... This game kinda reeks of it, in a good way. I played Curse of Darkness and it was great. Not as hard as Ninja Gaiden Black though, I bet.
I remember playing the original on the xbox. I Had trouble with the game for a while. Then took a break from it for about a week or so. Came back and just crushed the game. Man i miss my teens. Nothing but time to play video games. Edited out typos
10:32 I was one of those players that rage quit lmao. watching you beat chapter 1 that quick has my 11 year old self mind blown. This was the first game with this style of hack and slash fighting I ever bought and considering I was only 11 when this game came out, I tried for about 2 weeks and couldn't beat the first boss. I had to have my friend do it for me lol but I never beat the game. I think its time to revisit this bad boy and see what I can do! great run by the way that was amazing!
A little surprised there hasn’t been another ninja gained for a few years. Such a great series, and with the popularity of souls likes you’d think it would be on developers to do lists.
FUN FACT: You can use the outfit from the beginning of the game (not the one in the video the one you start your very first play through with) via a glitch/Easter egg you do this by saving during one of the first two chapters (you have to have beaten the game at least once for this to work) and then dying and pressing no on the continue screen/quitting the game by pressing start and select simultaneously and then loading your save and selecting the legendary black falcon outfit aka the one you use in chapter 3 onwards and then beating chapter 2 once chapter 3 starts you should have the outfit note: you get the outfit in the video by beating master ninja difficulty
I always got to the blimp boss and got wrecked. I never knew there was anything past that lol Now since I'm older I don't even know I can play anything less than casually.
very nice run. I love NG... been a fan since NG was on NES... I hope they port this to PC as I don't play console anymore... one of the best game ever made.
when i was a kid and tried this game I couldnt get past the first dojo room and quit the game after 1 week. I thought something was wrong with the game and it was impossible. I rented the game from block buster for a week and then never again.
Love action games like these. Always wanted to get into it, so I bought it when it went backwards compatible on Xbox One. The horse rider boss was indeed the point at which I rage quit. Though, I’m glad to say that I got through him today after months of not touching the game.
I bought that game when i saw it was backwards compatible on 360...never went through the horsemen either, so i quit then...And it's too late to get back to it, sold my 360 a while ago, f*ck this anyway, PC MASTER RACE, and Dark souls series are way better hardcore/frustrating games :p
BigBoss Hayabusa exactly. A lot of the difficulty in dark souls comes from it being cryptic and clunky controls. You have complete control over Ryu in this game. You die? It’s your fault 100%
Congrats on the PB, never seen the game before but it does look fun........(I was a PlayStation player at the time this released before moving onto PC).
I couldn't even beat this game on normal 😔 I had to do ninja dog and restart when I hit Alma for the first time in the church. She's just not fair bro.
It maybe that I just found a crack ton of max health extensions on my first playthrough and always made sure to have a lot of healing items at all times, but I never found Alma 2 to be a bad fight. It was actually one of my favorites. I liked that I needed to time my flying swallow just right to stun her, and my knowledge on her attacks from the first fight made it more satisfying than the first fight. I personally found bosses like Paz Zuu (bone dragon) and spirit Doku to be much more annoying. That said, I still feel bad for anyone who hated Alma 2.
Dark Souls has sold 2 million. That's hardly a global phenomenon. More like a popular cult game. Rise of the Tomb Raider has sold nearly 8 million copies. Yet, gamers believe it didn't sell well. Which is bullshit. This is proof that Dark Souls carries adulation it doesn't deserve quite frankly.
Lone Star theres a reason people say "that game is the dark souls of..." and not "that game is the tomb raider of..." lol. Popularity is not a good metric for greatness.
After 15 years i finally completed this game on Master Ninja difficulty. Finest gaming achievement for me personally.
Nice! I did it back in 07 after playing for a few years, and over 1000 hours on the game. One of my finest achievements in gaming. That's why my handle has been MasterNinja ever since 😁
15 years?
@@michaeltameheperi6665 NG Black is 2005 dude.
16 years now.
Congratulations be proud of yourself 👍👏🎊👌
Jesus, master ninja against the lady demon first time you fight her was awful. Congratulations! I beat master ninja and then started a file on ninja dog and it was like playing with cheat codes
The greatest og Xbox game I’ve ever played. Halo comes in second.
Wish I had played it. Game appears to have aged very well.
Played the crap outta this in 2004 waiting for Halo 2 to drop
I got a demo of this when I was little couldn’t beat the first boss 😭 I’d love to have another go now
I wholeheartedly agree with you.
It's the only game I played on the og Xbox.

You can play on Original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One :)
Unfortunately, I have none of those : ( If there was a PC Port of this, I would buy it day one!
Also, are you one of the people on the panel :O ???
Same, if this was on PC that would be amazing. I am not one of the people on the panel, I am just getting into speedrunning Ninja Gaiden Black. The game that I run the most is Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360. Maybe next time!
DigitalTrooper wait, you can play it on the xbox one? I've been looking for it for a while but couldn't find it
u can try Nioh on PC, a lot of players are saying it reminds them of ninja gaiden really much
One of my favorite games, sad that I missed this excellent run live. I particularly love how this game handled difficulty; adding new enemy types, new surprise/changed encounters & items placements, a new series of difficult bosses, and by giving existing bosses minions. Really made a new run on a harder difficulty feel special instead of just increasing numbers on enemy damage like most games.
This was such a nostalgia trip. This game got me back into gaming after a long hiatus. What a masterpiece.
Man one of the most underated badass greatest games of all time. I remember beating this over and over and over. And even the hardest mode. My god it was ridiculously hard. I remember screaming and cussing this game out like no other. I was a glutton for this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of my favorite games of all time.
Runner introduction starts at 0:58. Run starts at 1:02. Run restarts at 7:13.
Games Done Quick, thank you so much for making the start of the video so close to the start of the run. I know it's a small thing, but it's much appreciated.
The restart time is much appreciated!
I wish people would look at the mechanics of this game in more detail. The way team ninja designed Ryu to home in on enemies is one of the reasons it's so great. Between wind path run/stun and just the way weapon swings would subtly turn Ryu first and them connect was amazing.
Completely agree, it's a small thing but it makes a big difference in making the combat feel visceral and incredibly satisfying.
the way he moves is just so damn fast and smooth no other game is like that
I still play this game and it is 2020 Ninja Year, Amazing run and a classic game way to go Master Ninja!
HYPE FOR THE MASTER COLLECTION BABY
You know what would be amazing for this community?
A Master Ninja Speedrun done at this event.
2022 and this game still has it ❤
I've never heard of this game but I've never been more attracted to media by the very movement of the character, it just looks so fun and it perfectly captures my imagination.
Awesome run. I barely beat this game on Ninja Dog difficulty...
Had to watch this again! Awesome run Mike, and I am glad you could show it off at SGDQ!
56:16 that was super impressive.
I really wish Ninja Gaiden games ported to PC.
That would be nice, more japanese devs are doing decent ports and having success these days. Here's hoping.
Most modern gaming PCs can emulate Xbox games well, you should try it out.
@@jetspeed500 What are you talking about dude? We don't even have a stable xbox emulator yet, let alone one that works well.
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Agree, NG2 was my favorite action game for sure.
A great run of one of my favorite games of all time. Well done!
Anatti The best game bro

One of the hardest games ever made. An actually one of the few games in history that id say is just perfect.
Killer run Mike.
Killa rtj Mike
DOPE run Mike! Congrats on the new PB!

love this initiative, Watching and Drawing, keep it up SGDQ is life

That was the fastest I've seen Alma go down holy shit
Probably one of my favourite games ever, I just wish it had less swimming and more water running
Thanks for the fantastic run Mikekanis! Been waiting for another GDQ NGB run since Caleb’s back in... 2013? True to commentary this was quite a different and very entertaining run. Bravo guys.
One of the best games of ALL TIME. I want to see an Unlabored Flawnessness run because of how scary it is.
Is this our father Kane playing? For the NOD!
Peace Through Power!
Finger Ninja's on the controller... tis beautiful. Audience would probably appreciate a dip at 650hz and a de-ess.
Great run, Mike! Big fan of the game and the speedrun.
My favorite game of all time
The best game in the history.
The dual worms were rage quit time for me, until I grinded bats for the Unlabored Flawlessness, then Normal mode became Cakewalk mode
Awesome run, great watch. Thanks for providing!
The most unbroken game ever made. Are there any glitches at all?
You ace this game, or you die. Ninja Gaiden on Master difficulty makes Dark Souls look like Barbie.
The fastest and meanest players only. No strats. Just pure skill.
I consider 1:56:05 a glitch but that's about it
Two completely different games, try speed running Dark Souls.
Yup, enemies will just stare at you as you run past them. Only the bosses are required and only about a third of them are unavoidable.
Nice, Sen´s Fortress must be a playground.
Sen's is a joke.
one of the most enjoyable speedruns ever for me. Great run
Wow. Impressive run of an insanely hard game! Also, the couch commentary was very informative and on point.
Never got around to playing this game but this is sick.
That moment when you realize Ninja Gaiden is also a music rhythm game at 1:56:09
I can't be the only person thinking Queen at that point.
this run is a pure display of BDE
Amazing run. Not sure who the blonde guy on the left is but your enthusiasm and energy for the runner was great to watch from start to finish! Fantastic commentary!
About time NGB got into a GDQ.

I played Curse of Darkness and it was great. Not as hard as Ninja Gaiden Black though, I bet.
I actually dont like dmc or bayonetta or similar stuff, gow maybe? Ninja Gaiden is just the best idk
I remember playing the original on the xbox. I Had trouble with the game for a while. Then took a break from it for about a week or so. Came back and just crushed the game.

Amazing run of an amazing game.
As an aside, I really want Ryu Hayabusa to be in Smash Ultimate... Sakurai, please. >.>
I want to hear the announcer saying his name Bowser Jr. style "Ryu! ...Haya *bus* a"
Man, mad respect for the Ninja Gaiden speedrun scene. This shit looks hard as nails to do consistently.
enjoyed watching this a lot
This game is such a gem.
I remember playing this on my OG xbox when I was just a kid, was so hard bu so much fun. Could never get past the first boss
I bought the game because of this run. It seems really nice. Looking forward for my casual playthrough^^
Congrats on PB. That was an amazing run.
This game made me cry as a child 😅🥲
Shh... do you hear that?
Cuz I don’t
This was awesome. More runs like this
It took me wayyy too many hours to beat this game. And i watch Mike just KILL IT! DANG DUDE! 0.0
A little surprised there hasn’t been another ninja gained for a few years. Such a great series, and with the popularity of souls likes you’d think it would be on developers to do lists.
Amazing run Mikekanis!
Ninga gaiden black was ahead of its time, only other game on that level was halo 2
He's never tasted broccoli that's been properly cooked. sad :(

Also you can tell he beat the game on normal at least once because of the karma display
1:56:12 That combo beat though! awesome run
that alma fight was legendary. so good
Ninja Gaiden without Itagaki is like MGS without Kojima. You may get a sequel, but never a good one.
But mgr was good lol
Holy shit. I watched Caleb Hart's run from, what, 2013? And I've been hoping to see more Xbox Ninja Gaiden on GDQ. Hell yeah.
1:14:31 wow, i have NEVER seen that combo thing before. i remember that you can combo, but i didnt think it flashed a big number on screen.
Yeah it does, it made my obsessively try and get as big a combo as possible using the flails lol
For clarification I was talking about combos in general not the hit counter. And as an example of shuriken canceling look at Miduki’s old combo CMV’s
I always got to the blimp boss and got wrecked. I never knew there was anything past that lol
Now since I'm older I don't even know I can play anything less than casually.
Alma's mainly bad because the save point is too far before her. It's infuriating
very nice run. I love NG... been a fan since NG was on NES... I hope they port this to PC as I don't play console anymore... one of the best game ever made.
Great job getting a pb in the most stressful way to speedrun a really hard game.

when i was a kid and tried this game I couldnt get past the first dojo room and quit the game after 1 week. I thought something was wrong with the game and it was impossible. I rented the game from block buster for a week and then never again.
For me Ninja Gaiden Black is the hardest 3d video game ever made.
nobody mentioned how to unlock easy mode by dieing 3 times in the first lvl
Love action games like these. Always wanted to get into it, so I bought it when it went backwards compatible on Xbox One. The horse rider boss was indeed the point at which I rage quit. Though, I’m glad to say that I got through him today after months of not touching the game.

Great Run.
Just starting this. I saw it and said "This I gotta see..."
Will comment again after I'm blown away.
pb! now celebrate by eating broccoli, it's the best vegetable!
Congrats on the PB, never seen the game before but it does look fun........(I was a PlayStation player at the time this released before moving onto PC).
