So, this buying broken crap on ebay has to stop. While I learned a lot about SMPS (switch mode power supplies) I am not out of the woods yet. While I have managed to repair the fault in the PSU, there are other problems with the Tektronix 2440 that I recently got. Play along with the fool as he stumbles towards fixing the 2440!

I have two of these and you are in the same boat as me.
Hope your CCD's are good!
Just finished repairing the second one.
FPP front Panel Run diagnostics. You have most likely losted cal data.
Check CCDs at fast time base and see if the line on the crt has a ton of noise on it.

As I have been doing some reading since finishing up the video, I suspect that I have lost the Cal constants. I do hope that the CCD's are ok as well. Nice job on bringing back your 2440 to life!

You need to do an external calibration and this will eliminate your problem. Also you need to change the battery first before the calibration. Check out Simon Spiers Video he explains it in his video.

The revision of scope that I have was produced after they removed the external battery backed SRAM and replaced them with internal battery backed NVRAM. Simon has suggested that I check the CCD's to make sure that they have not failed. I have tried to do the external cal, but it did not work so that was his next suggestion.
