My sony A7III video was just uploaded to my channel! go sift through my other videos to see my thoughts as I give you once again the answer right away!
I bought a new one for $799.00 at the local base exchange. I’m retired Army. At the same time they were selling the a7 for $1300.00. Whoever sets their prices does not understand cameras. That’s okay with me.
I agree with you. I bought an A7v2 used for $730, and it's never let me down. I bought my first sony A6000 for $650, and the A7v2 is a much better camera.
Im happy to hear that you have had a similar experience to me! Too many people get caught up spec chasing. Just because a new camera came out, the one from previous generation is deemed "not usable" which isn't true. I want to build my channel around showing off old gear and how we can still get great results using it!
@@itsmenuke Sure, take a look I have about 80 videos on my channel it's dan noringer channel. All of the A-roll is done on A7m2 with a 28mm lens, note that the color is fine, but because of lighting on the A roll(using incandescent), the color temperature is a bit on the reddish side, but that's not the camras fault, that's the lighting and colorization. if I did the A roll during the day, I would get a much more natural color temperature, as the camera records what it sees.
Yes couldnt agree more as an owner of an A7ii. For casual or hobbyist considering a full frame, this 'old' a7ii is more than enough. As long you have basic photography skill, knows how to handle focus, exposure, iso, aperture etc2 you can still produce pro level image close to the newest a7iv, just lacking newer features. 😄
Hahah, great video. This camera is still a beast eight years later despite of some haters trashing on it. Yeah autofocus is slow and somewhat unreliable at times (which everyone seem to be mostly nagging about) and battery life is poor but I can't personally think much else. AF is still plenty good enough for many types of shooting and you can buy a battery grip. Amount of dynamic range leaves still many cameras coughing dust, even in low light you can just underexpose a lot and still get perfectly usable noise free images. You can go 2-3 stops up in post processing like nothing. Even after buying A7C last year I'm still using A7II as my secondary camera because it's reliable and trustworthy. Just learn how to work around all the weaknesses and it will hold its own against newer bodies for years to come.
Finally some one that gets it, some times people get caught up on “ this is newer so it’s better”. 9/10 times it will be, how ever it dosnt mean older cameras are all of the sudden obsolete. I personally love my a7ii and you are right if you learn the weaknesses and it’s sweet spots this cameras image quality can hold it’s own!!! Thanks for the support and the great comment I plan to start revolving this channel around all old gear in current day. I’ll be uploading some thing a little bit more in detail and thought out about the Fuji film xe1. I hope you are enjoying the a7c !!!
Thank you so much for the positive words, I’ve only recently started speaking in front of the camera and appreciate your support very much !!! I’m glad you are happy with your purchase !
@@Superz3ro i came from using canon 500D for almost a decade just for hobby, and the last 2 yrs of it i did some paid shoots. The Budget that i got from a corporate gig was enough to buy an A7III with a kit lens and maybe one prime. That's why I opted for the a7ii so i can purchase more lens. I'm more of a photog.
@@JanLeviSanchez I came to this video out of curiously. I am of the mind that virtually any camera made in the last eight years, is a camera that one could acquire, and not really go very wrong, especially for photography. This coming from Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II/III. But know, your story is unique only to you, as I am very familiar with versions of your scenario time and again, only the cameras are different. What I do find more interesting, is that, for all the technical advancements you and this video maker bought into the Sony A7III, the A7II has none of that. Yet I am fairly certain that you or he will not venture into other brands or formats because of perceived deficiencies. The irony being, the A7II has those and even less… The more you get into this the more you will realize, the cameras become less relevant. The glass (lenses) is what you are really buying into: Leica, Zeiss, Nikkor, M.Zuiko, G Master, Sigma, etc., etc. Which is why you even considered the A7II in the first place… …
@@Superz3ro yes totally agree. I prefer collecting the needed glasses first. With my decision to go for the A7II, was able to purchase an 85mm1.4 GM, sigma 135mm 1.8, and zeiss 16-35 f4 right off the bat last yr, and just added my latest samyang 24-70 this week. As for my needs, the technology that's in the A7II will suffice for now. Hehe.
I recommend a Nikon D600. Still Photos: 24mp & 14.2 stops dynamic range. Used - approx: £300-400 $360-480 €352-470 Paired with Sigma Art Lens: 28, 35, *40, 50, 85. Newest Nikon battery's - 560 shots If articulating screen is needed, Nikon D750 for approx £100-150 more, used condition.
Thank you so much ! I really appreciate the positive feed back and the time you took to watch I’ll be following up with more content soon here about the Sony a6300, go pro 5 , Mavic mini 2 in 2022
I’m looking to get the a7ii as my first mirrorless camera and the thing that really sold me is the lenses. The camera is good for slightly generous budget but the lenses will carry over to the new generations of the Sony alpha range which is great
it's mid 2023 i was looking at the Sony A7iv but after watching video's on comparison i found a Sony a7ii found on marketplace for $550 with a samyang 35mm lens, i was hard to not pass it up.. great video by the way!
Great video! Those are definitely cons that are worth knowing before pulling the trigger on this. As an A7C owner with a buddy wanting to get into photography, this is exactly the video i needed in order to recommend the A72 to him or not.
so is it clever to buy an a7 ii as a beginner (not complete noob), so i can reuse my lenses ill buy perfectly with an camera upgrade in a couple of years? is that a clever strategy?
I just purchased one toady. Getting to learn the camera. Its a first legit camera to me😄. Very well put together pro’s and cons. Now I know a lil more about it👍🏽💯.
Is it good for just hobby? Like some landscape photography, sunset photography and astro photography with good lense? I am not professional photographer.
This is an excellent budget camera for land space and still subject that don’t move. The main problem with this camera is the focus speed and batttery life but if you are taking pictures of landscape and Astro should not be a problem I would recommend buying a battery grip for this
Hy Danni! Great review of the A7ii! I decided to buy this camera about a week ago. I've been using a Nikon D5300 for the past 6 years , and about for 2 months I used it with a 50mm F1.8. Very crisp photos after the blurry and soft 18-200. Now the problem is , that I get the same with the Sony , with the 28-70 mm kit lens. I photograph trains , that is what I use the camera for. I might be very stupid , I am not ashamed of that , but the Sony had not yet convinced me. Could you help me in some way to figure out how can I get good results out of the Sony? What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance!
Thank you for the reply! To be honest without knowing a little more details or maybe showing some examples of the issue you are having its a little hard for me to identify the problem. Feel free to message me on Instagram and send me some of your examples and ill help as much as I can my Instagram is @danni.Alv With this said I might recommend with starting off by swapping out the kit lens, going with some thing in the range of 24mm or 35mm lens Prime. Also I noticed the sony shoots a little dark so more often than not I shoot with +1 exposure comp. but yeah if you want to link with me on Instagram ill help out with what I can
Great synopsis. Was shocked to see new A7 ii for sale...evidently due to chip shortage Sony started production again..more competition equals more price competition!
I had richoh GRIII i bought A7II and its huuugee step. I dont like that shutter sound and still try to deal with it but I bought sigma lens and im shocekd. I feel like someone who discovered photography by new way .
Well im going to give you the most honest answer possible. Ill start with your question, is this camera worth it. Yes, on so many levels this camera is worth the price and value that it brings in 2022. How ever as per what i stated in the video, this would probably not be my first choice camera video (keep in mind that, for video i shoot mainly music videos for musicians or interviews) With this said, there are many RUclipsrs who do use this camera for vlogging purposes and have done so successfully. I think the main problem with this camera when it comes to vloging is two things, and both those issues are solvable to a degree. Number 1, it has no front flip screen so you can not see your self while vlogging. The solution to this is to by a mirror attachment that lets you do so. you can buy said item for 19.99 cnadian on amazon. Here is the link for it below www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08J711G8S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Onto the next problem, which may be the bigger problem, the autofocus is a little slow. So in order to combat the flow autofocus i would reccoment using "Center focus" assuming that your face will be in the center of the screen when vlogging or if you prefer wide autofocus mode to use a WIDE lens 12mm-16mm lenses. With the above done, I'm sure you should have no problem vlogging, but if vlogging was your go to i would recommend other cameras like sony a600-a6300-a6400-a6500 or the sony NZXT all brilliant for vlogging, i hope this helps!! best of luck
I bought my A7II the end of 2019, it's my first mirrorless camera with interchanable lens, I've only had point and shoot cameras before, and even though it came with a kit lens which I guess is supposed to be the lowest grade, like you said, it was miles better than what my point and shoot cameras could do, especially shooting raw and editing in post. I definitely still recommend this one as well, I have a stand alone 4k camcorder for video so the lack of 4k video doesn't bother me with tis one. I only have 2 lens being I'm on a tight budget, but I hope to get a nice telescopic lens with at least 200mm eventually!
I love reading comments like this with appreciation for older cameras I think a lot of people write off old cameras or older cameras simply because there is a new and shiny thing that is out But that said, a lot of the features of the new cameras are ease of life features, and don’t significantly improve the actual image. I would love to see somebody compare an a74 and a72 and tell me the actual differences if they were both shot on the same lens and focus on the exact same thing. The only real difference between the images would be the path that it took to get to the same image meeting that day seven to probably struggled a little bit with focus on the a74 didn’t at all however, I would be shocked for somebody to show me the real difference, and be able to tell the difference between the two without any other information
@@sponch1940 what do you mean? are you looking for suggestions for lenses with more zoom? if this is what you are asking, my question to you would be, do you have a budget in mind?
In researching the Sony A6400 they say it has a new colour science,is it much different than on a A 6300 or the 7 mark 11 for out of the camera photos.
Nice video bro! I want your opinion about the Nikon Z5, Cannon RP and Sony A7 II (Full Frame) and another opinion between Olympus M5 Mark III and Lumix G95D (not G95). Thanks for your help! Been seeing this with a kit lenses for under $900 new. Is this worth buying over APS-C camera at the same price. Been trying to compare it to a Fujifilm X-T30 II. Now I’m only doing street photos no video. Mainly of my car.
@@diasdigitales4148 Thanks. Actually ended up finding a Sony A7C kit for Amazon warehouse for $600 less than retail. Received a brand new one that just didn’t have a box.

well to be honest most sensors these days can get up to that many shots, btw this is my other channel I'm responding from. How much are you getting it for? what condition is it in? (even though 36k out of 200k is not a lot in the grande scheme of things it can be a lot of wear on the camera its self) I would say at 36k shots if you are getting a good price for it and don't mind the trade off of missing certain things I mentioned in this video that is ould say go for it
Its new on best buy 999 its says off 1600dlls come with a lens. But i want 2 other lenses and a battery ive never carried 2 cars slots! Idk about that.
I'm just dusting off this camera and playing around with it. Damn, it's just feeling so slow and video resolution so low despite having better color and dynamic range compared to my Motorola Edge +. Shutter count 31197, maybe time to get a new one. I can't believe 1080p is now low Q for me.
nice! well for the most part I my self have been a portrait photographer who is now leaning towards adventure photography. With this said, I would say the a7rii and the a7ii are more than capable for this type of work. Yes, I think my biggest concern for this camera has always been comparatively speaking to the newer versions that it has slow auto focus, but when your subject is posing and not moving (Portrait photography) this is an easy thing to work with. I would also say that the extra MP on the R camera may not be all that much needed unless you are going to print BIG BIG if that is not some thing of concern I would highly recommend leaning towards the regular a7ii You can see some shots I've done with the a7ii on my IG @Danni.Alv
I upgraded from A7ii to A7rii couples of week now. Don’t forget to check your computer spec. A7rii files needs quite powerful computer to work with it in Lightroom (I use Lightroom) My early 2015 8g MacBook Air works quite well with A7ii raw but not with A7rii raw.
@@kosii135 I think that maybe you should download A7r2 raw files from any review websites (like dxo mark) and try to edit them on your notebook. It will clearly show that if your computer are powerful enough.
thank you so much for the support and feed back! all these comments have inspired me to want to make more videos about the a7ii so maybe I will make one on this lens To be very honest with you it really depends on what your standard is on good enough. I have the lens, and honestly I've used it once and never again! but that also might be because I have a total of 10 lenses to choose from. So if I want to use some thing wider, I grab my wide lens and if I want some thing more zoomed it I grab my 85 mm prime With this said, if I was just starting off or vlogging where "professional results" arent the standard than I sapose I could use the kit lens, how ever if I were looking to get serious about photography or video I would probably steer you in another direction or towards a different lens option. may I ask, what is it that you are looking to do with this camera specifically?
@@bellafantastica Nice, so i would reccomend for vlogging trying to get some thing wider maybe some thing int he 16mm range. The reason for this is because you want to be able to hold the camera and point it at your self. As far as taking pictures of your self, I would recommend maybe a 50mm or some thing in that range. you could also just try to get a better zoom lens than the one that comes with it essentially another 24-70mm lens if you can find a 1.8 version of it I would say you are golden this might be the better outcome for you since you probably don't want to be switching back and forth with lenses !! i hope this was helpful!
I’m being offered an A7sii, a 28mm f/2 lens and SD card from a friend for $950 (USD) used. This will be a starter camera for me to practice. Think it’s a good deal to get started?
What is your main focus ? Photos or videos ? Please not that Sony has the S and the R for different purposes the a7s line is meant for video the a7r for photos and the regular a7 line are slapped right in the middle Your offer from a friend seems to be for a video camera and if this is your goal I would say it’s not bad I know the sii has better focus options than the regular ii with that said I would look at picking up a used A6300 or a6400 if video is your focus in that budget It’s more equiped for video and lenses are cheaper I have shot many music videos on this channel with the a6300 if you need a reference I hope this message helped
perfect for realestate i would say because of focus speed not being a factor at all in this case i would say always if you could get a better camera like the a7iii go for it but if this is what is in your budget and you are strictly focusing on still objects this camera would be perfect for you
i agree fully! slow focus but great results for any photographer that can be patient with the focus! i might make a video for best focus modes on the a7ii
You can’t, I’m aware you can do this on the R2 and the a6400 how ever I promise you the function to add this to custom bottom the regular 2 isn’t available.
Are there any indications that the shutter could be failing ? Guessing a shutter repair wouldn't be worth while ? Not long had my used A7ii haven't & don't know how to check shutter actuations ?
If you take a photo with the camera and upload the raw file to a website online it will tell you Try googling camera shutter count file uploader on google im sure it will come up
Would it be worth trading a Canon 6D (mki) in for the A7II? Mainly used for car photography. (No video). Would also use an MC-11 adapter to use my 2 canon L lenses
to be honest, im not sure I never had the 6dmii. I have had a 5dmii and a 5dmiii. I would say it comparison to those specific cameras, be it as it may as they do focus faster than the a7ii in my opinion I would still trade. I took a trip to Mexico where I took the 5dmii and 5dmiii and after lugging around such heavy cameras it made me go mirrorless. Its just not worth carrying around so much weight plus lenses and what not. so for me I would definitely transition to mirrorless based on these specific things for me...but I'm not sure how important that is for you I know at the end of the day the 6dmki is still a capable picture camera
Thank you, if vlogging is your main focus I would probably steer towards a camera with quicker focus like Sony a6300, a6400 etc with a wide angle lens I love the Sony a7ii but auto focus’s is not its strongest feature specially when you are not looking at the screen and can’t verify focus
@@sunset5163 I have not personally experienced a broken shutter with my a7ii how ever came up recently with a few people I knew and it got me to google this, found a few post on reddit about it. so far the camera for me has been rock solid
It really depends what I’m doing if those are my two options and I was not bending on the options of cameras I would say Sony a7ii - still photography meaning that you are interested in taking pictures of still objects or people or landscapes etc A6400 for video
you mean photos of dogs? btw im replying from my other channel! keep in mind people have been taking photos of pets (great photos) long before the sony a7iii or any other snappy autofocus system is it possible...YES is it less convenient YES some times we get caught up in the things we are missing from the newer cameras, like dog eye auto focus how ever dog portraits didn't start with new auto focus systems. this was definitely some thing is as trying to state in this video, not to get caught up with what we are missing and focus on what is possible with whats within our budget
cant do that on this camera unfortunately, many people have this mistaken because you can do this on the a7r2 but and they assume because the a7r2 and a72 are so similar that they would run the same firmware but even then...you still cant do this I have a sony a7iii and a sony a6300/6400 and have this enabled on all the other cameras but yet do not have the ability to do this on the a7ii even with the most updated firmware unfortunately
if you are looking for some thing in this price range for music videos I probably would steer away from this for video in general as the focus will drive you nuts I would still recommend this for still photos but I've shot many music videos on the a6300 on this channel you might want to check out

I recently got an a6100 with a couple of sigma primes for mixed use of guitar videos and photography, and it’s a good setup and great value. However in my area an a7ii can be had for as low as about 550 USD, with a Sony FE 85mm 1.8, for under 1000 USD in total. My aps-c setup has better video and autofocus, but for stills it’s honestly quite tempting to get into full frame for just a fraction of the price of an a7iii, a7iv, or a7c.
Honeslty if these were my options i would get the a7ii for stills and the a6100 for video !!! great camera for great price in my opinion this is considering that I also have the a7iii
@@DanniAlv It sure is one of the best value propositions for Sony mirrorless out there. For the time being I can’t really justify a second setup, as I’d also need a FF lens to take advantage of the full sensor. Had I not wanted to do video and didn’t need a flip-up screen, the a7ii + Sony FE 85 1.8 would be great at around same price as the a6100 + Sigma 56 1.4 that I use. Then again that setup is small, practical, AF is fast af lol, and those Sigma primes are sharp. FF do produce cleaner images, but I usually ETTR so it gets close.
@@punisherfx1649 i would say its a great price, how ever the lens is sort of MEH if you can do without the lens ask if you can NOT get the lens and get a lower price how ever even with that price id say its great! 2600 is very low make sure you verify the shutter counts if you get a RAW file from he camera dn upload to this website w w w. camerashuttercount .com/ you will be able to find out the true shutter count
Looking between an A7ii and the a6400. I am doing 90% photography and only some video of family. Nothing professionally. Photography wise, I am wanting to do mainly portraits, animal and street photography. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
caught me as im sitting on youtube, so I'm replying right away! haha Thats awesome, I think for me personally. If I was looking at mainly doing portraits (where your subjects stand virtually still) I would probably look to getting the bigger sensor! that's just the way I look at it. How ever with this said, you did mention shooting animal pictures, so depending on how important that is to you I might go with the a6400, I think over all the images are going to look better on the sony a7ii but the a6400 has the animal eye auto focus!! and if that's important to you I would definitely go with that, as getting a dog that might not stand still in focus with a slower focus camera like the a7ii could be a challenge. Not impossible, but challenging. With this said, I have another video on my channel. Buying the sony a6300 which is basically the a6400 without touch screen and IBIS so check that out! might give you some perspective!! i hope this helped, but to warap this up Photos mainly , slower or still subjects - BUY SONY A7II Videos priority, or fast focus for moving subjects - BUY SONY A6400
I switched to α7 ΙΙ, only for one reason: IBIS. If I didn't suffer from Parkinson's disease, I would have stayed with my beloved a7, wshich is smaller and lighter.
Best Buy is selling it for C$1400 (lens kit included) Is it good buy for a beginner (professional photography) or should I look for something more entry level?
Great camera for a begginer, how ever what type of professional photography? if this is for lets say landscape id say this it more than enough camera. if you are looking for wedding work, or events id say spend the extra money get duo card slots for back ups! believe it or not at the time of this video I had not lost photos to memory error but now have and am kicking my self for not using the a7iii that day !
@@rafikz77 the a6000 is definitly okay for a beginner but I would not gravitate towards it for professional work as you stated in your original comment. i think what most people don't consider when they say my a6000/a64000/ etc is better then an a7ii is that they are looking at two photos shot in ideal situations in the same location etc but in real world situations, an aps-c image RAW falls apart very quickly in post and I feel that's where the real difference is I rather deal with an uncompressed RAW from the a7ii if you are shootings models, than they should stand still so I don't see focus speed being an issue here that's just my opinion thoughn
@@noclud5137 if this is the case switch to a full frame 📸, I don’t want to take away from ultimately it not mattering they say that the best camera you can have is the one you have on you ! How ever, If you are leaning more and more to photography at some point a full frame will make you happy

The more you get into this the more you will realize, the cameras become less relevant. The glass (lenses) is what you are really buying into: Leica, Zeiss, Nikkor, M.Zuiko, G Master, Sigma, etc., etc. Which is why you even considered the A7II in the first place…
…
@@Superz3ro yes totally agree. I prefer collecting the needed glasses first. With my decision to go for the A7II, was able to purchase an 85mm1.4 GM, sigma 135mm 1.8, and zeiss 16-35 f4 right off the bat last yr, and just added my latest samyang 24-70 this week. As for my needs, the technology that's in the A7II will suffice for now. Hehe.

Thank you so much ! I really appreciate the positive feed back and the time you took to watch I’ll be following up with more content soon here about the Sony a6300, go pro 5 , Mavic mini 2 in 2022
Thank you for telling us your opinion first, then elaborate 👏🏽
I’m looking to get the a7ii as my first mirrorless camera and the thing that really sold me is the lenses. The camera is good for slightly generous budget but the lenses will carry over to the new generations of the Sony alpha range which is great
I bough it brand new at Best Buy on summer 2021 for less than 1000$ USD with the kit lense. I love it.
Awsome ! I’m glad you enjoy it !!!
it's mid 2023 i was looking at the Sony A7iv but after watching video's on comparison i found a Sony a7ii found on marketplace for $550 with a samyang 35mm lens, i was hard to not pass it up.. great video by the way!
Is it good for video and photo?
Yes! Really good video. Love that he got to the point right away! Thank you! 👏🏻🙌🏻
Upgrading from Canon Rebel t6 to this camera!! So excited 😊 🤗 thank you for your information!!
Big upgrade super happy for you I have Came to realize how popular this camera is so even though I do own the a7iii I will be making more a7ii content
Wow thats the video what i am looked for, thx man, good luck with your channel, keep gooing
I appreciate all this support
What do you recommend: Sony a7ii or Canon eos RP ?
Great video! Those are definitely cons that are worth knowing before pulling the trigger on this. As an A7C owner with a buddy wanting to get into photography, this is exactly the video i needed in order to recommend the A72 to him or not.
glad this was useful for you!
Just bought the A7ii NEW from amazon $770 with 28-70mm lens I'm super happy!
Nice congrats man ! I hope to see what you produce with it feel free to drop your ig I’ll check you out

Thank you Danni. That was very helpful!
so is it clever to buy an a7 ii as a beginner (not complete noob), so i can reuse my lenses ill buy perfectly with an camera upgrade in a couple of years?
is that a clever strategy?
I just purchased one toady. Getting to learn the camera. Its a first legit camera to me😄. Very well put together pro’s and cons. Now I know a lil more about it👍🏽💯.
awesome buy! thank you for the comment! i hope you enjoy your new camera!
Flames ! Thanks for review!
thank you!
Is it good for just hobby? Like some landscape photography, sunset photography and astro photography with good lense? I am not professional photographer.
This is an excellent budget camera for land space and still subject that don’t move. The main problem with this camera is the focus speed and batttery life but if you are taking pictures of landscape and Astro should not be a problem I would recommend buying a battery grip for this
Just got the II. I figure we are amateurs and this is a step up from my Nikon anyways. 2000 down to 1400 at best buy this week
what are you planning on takings photos or videos of?
Hi! Thank you for your video. I am considering this camera. Would you recommend this for taking landscape photos and video for beginner?
100000% for the things you mentioned above
Feel free to message me on Instagram and send me some of your examples and ill help as much as I can my Instagram is @danni.Alv
With this said I might recommend with starting off by swapping out the kit lens, going with some thing in the range of 24mm or 35mm lens Prime. Also I noticed the sony shoots a little dark so more often than not I shoot with +1 exposure comp.
but yeah if you want to link with me on Instagram ill help out with what I can
@@DanniAlv Thank you a lot! I wrote on instagram!
Great synopsis. Was shocked to see new A7 ii for sale...evidently due to chip shortage Sony started production again..more competition equals more price competition!
sony started producing these again? they need some firmware updates! haha

Great video!Just wondering what is your lens on camera in the video?
I shot this on a don’t a6300 with a sigma 16mm 1.4
I got mine this week for 550 with a shuttercount of 70k. It's in amazing condition despite that.
I really love your video, please do more about "should you buy" topic.
I have, i also have one on the a6300 and the go pro 5....i will also be doing one on the a7iii and on the dji mini 2

I’m leaving my Canon 6D Mark I and getting these Sony A7II.. is it a good deal? 🤔😅
Thanks Alot Bor For Making This Simple For Me 😊👍
I had richoh GRIII i bought A7II and its huuugee step. I dont like that shutter sound and still try to deal with it but I bought sigma lens and im shocekd. I feel like someone who discovered photography by new way .
Awesome review, thanks!!
My wife purchased this camera for me… I am wanting to use it for vlogging … is this camera worth it?
Well im going to give you the most honest answer possible. Ill start with your question, is this camera worth it. Yes, on so many levels this camera is worth the price and value that it brings in 2022.
How ever as per what i stated in the video, this would probably not be my first choice camera video (keep in mind that, for video i shoot mainly music videos for musicians or interviews)
With this said, there are many RUclipsrs who do use this camera for vlogging purposes and have done so successfully.
Here is the link for it below
www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08J711G8S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Onto the next problem, which may be the bigger problem, the autofocus is a little slow. So in order to combat the flow autofocus i would reccoment using "Center focus" assuming that your face will be in the center of the screen when vlogging or if you prefer wide autofocus mode to use a WIDE lens 12mm-16mm lenses.
With the above done, I'm sure you should have no problem vlogging, but if vlogging was your go to i would recommend other cameras like
sony a600-a6300-a6400-a6500 or the sony NZXT
all brilliant for vlogging, i hope this helps!! best of luck
I love reading comments like this with appreciation for older cameras I think a lot of people write off old cameras or older cameras simply because there is a new and shiny thing that is out
But that said, a lot of the features of the new cameras are ease of life features, and don’t significantly improve the actual image.
Hey! I just got the A7II with the kit lense but want to start looking at newer lenses. What do you have in terms of better range ?
@@sponch1940 what do you mean? are you looking for suggestions for lenses with more zoom? if this is what you are asking, my question to you would be, do you have a budget in mind?
In researching the Sony A6400 they say it has a new colour science,is it much different than on a A 6300 or the 7 mark 11 for out of the camera photos.
It still takes great photos and you can do so much in post now
100% agree with this!!!
Nice video bro!
I want your opinion about the Nikon Z5, Cannon RP and Sony A7 II (Full Frame) and another opinion between Olympus M5 Mark III and Lumix G95D (not G95). Thanks for your help!
By the way, someone who has no idea of photography writes to you, but who has plans to be a photographer and eventually make video about short tutorials.
Been seeing this with a kit lenses for under $900 new. Is this worth buying over APS-C camera at the same price. Been trying to compare it to a Fujifilm X-T30 II. Now I’m only doing street photos no video. Mainly of my car.
For photography, having a full frame sensor beats APSC. However, if you want to do video primarily... Getting an APSC like the a6400 makes more sense
@@diasdigitales4148 Thanks. Actually ended up finding a Sony A7C kit for Amazon warehouse for $600 less than retail. Received a brand new one that just didn’t have a box.

Can you please let me know on below
Sony A7mii - ₹79,999 -1003$+ 10% off
Sony A6400- ₹79,999 -1003$+ 10% off

And the a6400 for video in my honest opinion
Wow, great video man. I might actually buy one right now! :)

Thanks for posting. You look like a young Zack de la Rocha btw
No problem ! Thank you for commenting and I love Rage against the machine, Zack is a legend so I will take it as a compliment haha 🫡
what type of wrap did you add?
Do you think it would be an upgrade from the D5100 to A7ii? Might be a dumb question, but i just want to know man :/. Im a transit/urban photographer
Looking at a a7ii just curious if 36,xxx shots is too much ? I read online these camera can get more then 200,xxx
well to be honest most sensors these days can get up to that many shots, btw this is my other channel I'm responding from.
How much are you getting it for?
what condition is it in? (even though 36k out of 200k is not a lot in the grande scheme of things it can be a lot of wear on the camera its self)
I would say at 36k shots if you are getting a good price for it and don't mind the trade off of missing certain things I mentioned in this video that is ould say go for it
I do a lot of Portraits my work got put in a magazine I do high quality shit is the Sony a7ii better then the Canon Eos RP?
Its new on best buy 999 its says off 1600dlls come with a lens. But i want 2 other lenses and a battery ive never carried 2 cars slots! Idk about that.
I’m here in 2024 - should I still buy it? 😅 I need one camera for products
For photos itll do fine, look up an a7r2 tho ( 42mp ) , same gen
I'm just dusting off this camera and playing around with it. Damn, it's just feeling so slow and video resolution so low despite having better color and dynamic range compared to my Motorola Edge +.
Shutter count 31197, maybe time to get a new one.
I can't believe 1080p is now low Q for me.
What you think about the a7R ii was thinking about upgrading from a canon t5. I mainly do portraits.
nice! well for the most part I my self have been a portrait photographer who is now leaning towards adventure photography.
I would also say that the extra MP on the R camera may not be all that much needed unless you are going to print BIG BIG if that is not some thing of concern I would highly recommend leaning towards the regular a7ii
You can see some shots I've done with the a7ii on my IG @Danni.Alv
@@DanniAlv thanks man appreciate the opinion I’ll check it out
I upgraded from A7ii to A7rii couples of week now. Don’t forget to check your computer spec. A7rii files needs quite powerful computer to work with it in Lightroom (I use Lightroom)
My early 2015 8g MacBook Air works quite well with A7ii raw but not with A7rii raw.
@@jazzjingjing thanks man noted.. i have a acer predator so i believe ill be fine ?
@@kosii135 I think that maybe you should download A7r2 raw files from any review websites (like dxo mark) and try to edit them on your notebook. It will clearly show that if your computer are powerful enough.
Great vid!
Good for workout videos?
I would say so, but if you want some thing for videos at a similar price range i would like at an A6400 or A6300
Thanks for the video! Is the original lense that goes in a box, good enough or you have to buy another at once?
thank you so much for the support and feed back! all these comments have inspired me to want to make more videos about the a7ii so maybe I will make one on this lens
To be very honest with you it really depends on what your standard is on good enough. I have the lens, and honestly I've used it once and never again! but that also might be because I have a total of 10 lenses to choose from. So if I want to use some thing wider, I grab my wide lens and if I want some thing more zoomed it I grab my 85 mm prime
With this said, if I was just starting off or vlogging where "professional results" arent the standard than I sapose I could use the kit lens, how ever if I were looking to get serious about photography or video I would probably steer you in another direction or towards a different lens option.
may I ask, what is it that you are looking to do with this camera specifically?
@@DanniAlv thank you! Waiting 😊
@@DanniAlv I'm planning to use it as a blogging camera and to take good photos of me :)
@@DanniAlv Thank you!))
I’m being offered an A7sii, a 28mm f/2 lens and SD card from a friend for $950 (USD) used. This will be a starter camera for me to practice. Think it’s a good deal to get started?
What is your main focus ? Photos or videos ?
Please not that Sony has the S and the R for different purposes the a7s line is meant for video the a7r for photos and the regular a7 line are slapped right in the middle
Your offer from a friend seems to be for a video camera and if this is your goal I would say it’s not bad I know the sii has better focus options than the regular ii with that said
I would look at picking up a used A6300 or a6400 if video is your focus in that budget
It’s more equiped for video and lenses are cheaper I have shot many music videos on this channel with the a6300 if you need a reference
I hope this message helped
Very helpful thank you so much!
Should I buy A6400 or A7 ii for photography
what kind of photography?
I found A7M2 body under 600$ USD & 4000 Shutter Count. It's Good For Real Estate Photography? Currently I am shooting With Fujifilm XT3.
perfect for realestate i would say because of focus speed not being a factor at all in this case i would say always if you could get a better camera like the a7iii go for it but if this is what is in your budget and you are strictly focusing on still objects this camera would be perfect for you
hunt for those deals, picked up an A7ii of market place for $300. I will say though, compared to my a6400, the auto focus is comedically slow.
i agree fully! slow focus but great results for any photographer that can be patient with the focus!
i might make a video for best focus modes on the a7ii
@TRiddle 55 what website did you find the a7ii for $300 ?😅
Great video with noteworthy tips, thankyou. As an aside, roman numerals for 4 is IV and not VI as you had it. :)
Thank you for the feed back and the correction Woops !!!! I appreciate your support !!!
VI is six isn't it?
@@aidenvosper3551 that would be correct
0:35 yes you can. I do it on a7rii with the middle button to switch between EVF and LCD. I did it on a6400 so I bet you can do it on a7ii too.
If you take a photo with the camera and upload the raw file to a website online it will tell you
Try googling camera shutter count file uploader on google im sure it will come up
Would it be worth trading a Canon 6D (mki) in for the A7II? Mainly used for car photography. (No video). Would also use an MC-11 adapter to use my 2 canon L lenses
to be honest, im not sure I never had the 6dmii. I have had a 5dmii and a 5dmiii. I would say it comparison to those specific cameras, be it as it may as they do focus faster than the a7ii in my opinion I would still trade. I took a trip to Mexico where I took the 5dmii and 5dmiii and after lugging around such heavy cameras it made me go mirrorless. Its just not worth carrying around so much weight plus lenses and what not. so for me I would definitely transition to mirrorless based on these specific things for me...but I'm not sure how important that is for you
I know at the end of the day the 6dmki is still a capable picture camera
Pro : cheapest full frame with Ibis and Techart adapter support

New kit goes for $ 800 worth it?
What currency
do you think this would be good for vlogging? awesome video mate
Thank you, if vlogging is your main focus I would probably steer towards a camera with quicker focus like Sony a6300, a6400 etc with a wide angle lens I love the Sony a7ii but auto focus’s is not its strongest feature specially when you are not looking at the screen and can’t verify focus

It really depends what I’m doing if those are my two options and I was not bending on the options of cameras I would say
Sony a7ii - still photography meaning that you are interested in taking pictures of still objects or people or landscapes etc
A6400 for video
What I can do if I am taking photos of Scooby Doo? Is it too bad A7ii does not have AF for that?
you mean photos of dogs? btw im replying from my other channel! keep in mind people have been taking photos of pets (great photos) long before the sony a7iii or any other snappy autofocus system
is it possible...YES is it less convenient YES
some times we get caught up in the things we are missing from the newer cameras, like dog eye auto focus how ever dog portraits didn't start with new auto focus systems.
this was definitely some thing is as trying to state in this video, not to get caught up with what we are missing and focus on what is possible with whats within our budget
nice job!
i just saw a video where it tells you how to set a custom function button to switch between evf and live view. just look it up on youtube.
cant do that on this camera unfortunately, many people have this mistaken because you can do this on the a7r2 but and they assume because the a7r2 and a72 are so similar that they would run the same firmware but even then...you still cant do this
I have a sony a7iii and a sony a6300/6400 and have this enabled on all the other cameras but yet do not have the ability to do this on the a7ii even with the most updated firmware unfortunately

just picked one up for £400...only downside is the dreadful battery life and charge times....nothing a few more batteries wont fox tho!
hey for music videos would this be good or what cannon in the same price range would be better ?
if you are looking for some thing in this price range for music videos I probably would steer away from this for video in general as the focus will drive you nuts I would still recommend this for still photos but I've shot many music videos on the a6300 on this channel you might want to check out

Never once have I ever needed to use a bottom to switch between screens, that's kind of a weird gripe.
so this is not good for video shooting?
if video is your focus i would recommend the a7iii at least or some thing along the lines of a6300
Didn’t Jake Paul use this camera?

Looking between an A7ii and the a6400. I am doing 90% photography and only some video of family. Nothing professionally. Photography wise, I am wanting to do mainly portraits, animal and street photography.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
caught me as im sitting on youtube, so I'm replying right away! haha
Thats awesome, I think for me personally.
Buying the sony a6300 which is basically the a6400 without touch screen and IBIS so check that out! might give you some perspective!!
i hope this helped, but to warap this up
Photos mainly , slower or still subjects - BUY SONY A7II
Videos priority, or fast focus for moving subjects - BUY SONY A6400
I switched to α7 ΙΙ, only for one reason: IBIS. If I didn't suffer from Parkinson's disease, I would have stayed with my beloved a7, wshich is smaller and lighter.

if this is for lets say landscape id say this it more than enough camera. if you are looking for wedding work, or events id say spend the extra money get duo card slots for back ups! believe it or not at the time of this video I had not lost photos to memory error but now have and am kicking my self for not using the a7iii that day !
@@DanniAlv Thanks. Light model photography.
I'm also looking at the Sony A6000, seems to be a god value
@@rafikz77 the a6000 is definitly okay for a beginner but I would not gravitate towards it for professional work as you stated in your original comment.
i think what most people don't consider when they say my a6000/a64000/ etc is better then an a7ii is that they are looking at two photos shot in ideal situations in the same location etc
but in real world situations, an aps-c image RAW falls apart very quickly in post and I feel that's where the real difference is I rather deal with an uncompressed RAW from the a7ii
if you are shootings models, than they should stand still so I don't see focus speed being an issue here
that's just my opinion thoughn
I own a Sony Zv-e10.. And I don't know what to do , If I should switch to full-frame or not
What are you using it for ?
@@DanniAlv surprizing enough.. for photography
@@noclud5137 if this is the case switch to a full frame 📸, I don’t want to take away from ultimately it not mattering they say that the best camera you can have is the one you have on you !
How ever, If you are leaning more and more to photography at some point a full frame will make you happy
20 years ago my Canon has super slow shutter and slow focus
10 years ago my Canon has slow shutter and slow focus
I just came back to buy a regular camera and I hear this has slow shutter and slow focus.
Why can't the Japanese figure this out once and for all??
They did a7iii and up
