Crazy CHEAP TRAIN RIDE from Thailand to Cambodia for $1.25 🇹🇭/🇰🇭

- I took an insanely cheap train from Bangkok, Thailand all the way to the Cambodian border. Then I crossed on foot and took a taxi and a tuktuk over to Siem Reap, Cambodia. From all the research, stories, and preparation I did in advance I was expecting a horrible experience full of discomfort and scams. But I was surprised to encounter nothing but great things, every step of the way!
The train wasn't very comfortable, but it was a comfortable temperature, spacious and roomy, and even had street food vendors walking up and down the aisles selling food, snacks, and drinks. The taxi ride to the city was relaxing. And even the tuktuk driver "Noice" was very friendly, helpful, and brought me straight to my hostel.
I highly recommend taking this same train in the morning if you want to visit Cambodia. I still cannot believe it was only $1.25!!!

Ayyy I'm looking forward to the Cambodia videos!
Yas! Got a few lined up!
I liked and subcribed to your channel when I saw you smile when leaving the station...(made me smile and feel at peace) Thank you for the video as I am moving to Thailand this year and trying to get as much knowledge as possible.
I’m happy to hear that!!! Thank you so much!
"This meat is pretty good. We'll see how I feel after I eat it." 😂
Great video! Love your style.
Thank you!!🙏 I had so much fun making this one!
Moving to Phnom Penh next month…would love to travel with you, you seem like an amazing person…need more genuine people in this world ❤
Oh wow how cool! What inspired you to move? Thank you 🙏! I’ll be going back to Asia in a few months and am always down to meet people along the way!
wow she looks hot BRAD lol
Great video...can't wait for the next one.
Hope you're ok, health wise.❤️❤️
I’m great health wise (now)! I was sick for a bit.
Saw you on a few videos with Chris, thought I come to check out your vids. Hope your videos will catch on and grows fast
Thanks a bunch!! I hope so too lol! But I’m having an amazing time making them!!
I'm watching your video for the 2nd time now. because we are going to Cambodia in a week. And I realize now, you mentioned travel with Chris, and I watched his video twice too lol. That is how I found your channel. So cool. I'm a newbie RUclipsr too. Just started a month ago. I wish you will grow massively because your personality and aura and perspective are really refreshing. Most videos complained about Cambodia and the overall energy was a bit negative from some channels. Your energy was great therefore your experience was great. We are planning to have the same attitude when we go over. So thanks for this video.
I really appreciate that!! Thanks so much! I agree, and think your positivity will take you far! Good luck!
I'm reluctant to tell you any specifics, because the rules change often. I just did a search and it seems that if arriving by air, you'll have to take a $5 test, and won't need to quarantine. This is from July 2022, so I may not be looking at the most recent.
www.embassyofcambodiadc.org/arrival-procedure.html
(^ This has a link to the document I was quoting before)
I usually search for "Cambodia entry requirements" and try to find an official site. This can be tough because it's hard to tell sometimes. Just make sure you pay attention to details like: national vs. foreigner, dates, arrival by land/port/air, etc. I hope this is helpful.
@@alajunproctor568 no prob! Let me know how it goes!! Have fun!
You just PROVED the Law of Expectation, all those other Videos the people were all paranoid EXPECTING to get Scammed and everyone who even OFFERED to help them they thought was a Scam Artist, you on the other hand worked it like a Pro, you went with the flow and trusted your Gut and gave the people a Chance. Good Video!
Thank you!! I agree completely! I understand the importance of being cautious and safe while traveling, but I always try to be positive and assume people are good unless given a reason to believe otherwise
I used to be like that when I was younger. I think it’s just self protection. Now, I just accept things for the way they are without getting paranoid. Not once have I ever been in a sketchy situation or robbed. Of course I’ve been scammed out of a few £ but that’s just part of the experience of being in SE Asia.
Love it
@@risefromyourpain that’s the right attitude !!! With that you can go have fun and great experiences anywhere!!
Nice and very informative video. If I am younger, I will do that too. I love travel experiences like you. I just checked Bangkok Airways BKK to Siem Reap one way 5,755 to 6.755 depending on the time and day. There is an airport bus and a van to the city. They have a counter to buy a ticket. Since I don't know how to use Moblie phone with the country's SIM card, I will just ask the driver to negotiate for the price of the Tuk Tuk. Give the driver $2-$4 will be fair enough.
Happy travels
Great video .... I started getting nervous about your ride and the scamming . I love you son! Xo
Thanks! Love you too mom!
If mom is watching my videos, I would be so damn nervous..😅
Hahaha.
Lovely video. Thanxs Buddy
Thank you!! 😉 no problem!
6:15 That's what makes it appealing. Hot and uncomfortable, but lots of fun snacks.
Would love to do this one day. Great video
Haha totally! Thanks Liam! From one farang to another
Just recetly traveled from Thailand to Cambodia by bus and absolutely no problems, spent 5 days in Siem Reap and encountered zero scams. Tuk Tuks in Cambodia are not like in Thailand as they provide basic transportation at a reasonable price, I even hired one for a few days of touring around at about $30-40 a day. Cigarettes are 75 cents a pack and costs in Cambodia seem to be lower than Thailand and Laos. The Cambodians I met were very friendly and seemed genuinely happy for your patronage. If you want to go to Angkor Wat you will need to purchase tickets outside of the site or online prior to going, you cannot buy tickets at the entrance.$5 for a tuktuk from old town to Angkor Wat, dont be surprised if you driver offers to wait for you and drive you back to town.
Thanks for the helpful info!!
I also ended up hiring a TukTuk driver for a week. I payed about $80 total for 6 full days! He even brought me water and food to my hotel when I was sick!
@@WhereisBrad Giant Ibis bus service provides very comfortable, top notch service in and out of Cambodia. Same bus and staff the whole trip and they provide assistance in crossing the border. A couple of passengers had some issues at the border (too many entries into Thailand) and the bus waited for them to get things sorted out.
That’s amazing! I’ll have to try this next time for sure! Seems so much better than by train lol
Hi! I'm still thinking how to cross the border... and train option looks nice and like adventure :) Is there was more tourists in train? Or only you?
It was a very fun adventure for sure. I was the only tourist on the whole train. It’s definitely a local thing, but I totally recommend it!
Eyyyy tried this 2 months ago. Cambodia-thailand. Thank you.
Nice!!!! So you went the other way. Did you enjoy it as much as I did? Would you do it again?
@WhereisBrad You bet! It is also safe for female travelers. Btw the new schedule from poipet is 3pm.
Awesome! Good to know. So you crossed the border and then boarded the train right? Did you buy your ticket in Poipet?
@WhereisBrad Yes. The ticket is still 49 baht, The hotel we stayed at in SR offers a shuttle to Poipet(11usd). Got off at the border. I memorize several videos, in and out, so we won't have to ask. That way, we're less likely to get scammed.
@@enelrasi wow you really prepared and did it right!
When I went BKK to Poipet I had done the same thing lol, watched videos over and over and made tons of notes! Thanks for all the info, I’ll be sure to share with others!!
Awesome love the trip and info
Thanks!!
Hey Brad, Thank you for this very helpfull video! I have a question. I am not vaccinated, did you need to show your covid card? I can't find any restrictions for thailand or cambodia. Is it possibile to changes many at the cambodia border? I will only have euro's and thai bath when entering cambodia. Thank you so much
I’m pretty sure I showed my vaccine card. But because the laws are constantly adjusting, and because every country is different, I recommend looking it up.
It also depends on where you’re from. I just checked and there are no Covid entry requirements for US citizens, but check you’re country to be sure. I searched “Cambodia entry requirements”.
There are money exchanges, but there’s kind of scattered. They should be able to convert your euro and baht. ATMs are pretty easy to find which is where I got most of my cash. They accept US dollar and their currency, but make sure you have no old bills, creases, tears, or stains. They are very strict with that. So make sure your bills are fresh if you do an wxchange
Glad you enjoyed the video! Let me know if you have any other questions!
It pretty much costs you nothing to go across countries and hundreds of miles. I’m sure countless people go through Poipet fine but the few who were scammed were the ones who made the video and we think that it happens all the time. Your trip gives me an idea that I may try this route when I have time in the future.
That’s honestly a very good point! Definitely let me know if you do! And if you find any other interesting routes like this one please share!
Hey, which Bangkok station did you depart from?
@@heythave I forget the Thai name, but if you search google maps for “Bangkok Train Station” it’ll bring you right there.
@@WhereisBrad Yes, I just found out that it’s Bangkok Hua Lamphong Station near Chinatown.
@@heythave ahhh! Yep that sounds right! Thank you!
way better than staying to stay in the bus, best is sharing taxi from poipet to sreap.
Awesome! I’d do it again for sure!!
I love the toilet part !!!
5555!!
Ou 💩
Nice to see you didn't get ripped off!
Right?! I was happy about it too! Every video I watched made me super scared lol
😂😂😂 they all do the same thing lol funny I knew the tuktuk was coming
Lol. I was like dang! It happened!
great video brother, do you have idea how to do train to go back to bangkok? like schedule and stuff
Thanks a lot!
I don’t know actually. I thought about doing that next time I go. For this one I ended up doing a night bus to Phnom Penh, and then flew back to Thailand. Sorry I can’t help, but if I do it next trip ill make another video for sure
@@WhereisBrad saw it somewhere, 6:55 and 13:55, border opens at 7am, what i might do is walk around poipet then stay the night at border hotel
btw do you know how to go to train station in your video from the airport?
Oh nice!
There are two main airports. The main Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airport is pretty far from the city center. The other Don Mueang is closer but I’ve never been. I just take Grab, which is like Uber, for about 400-500 baht, to get into the city from BKK. You can use Bolt too. I think I remember signing up for Grab from the Us, but being unable to finish registration until I got to Thailand. So if you do that make sure you do that while on wifi or after getting cell service figured out, and before going out to the street.
From BKK you can also take a train I believe. It’s much cheaper, but I think it takes a lot longer. And I’m not positive, but confident, that you’d need to take a bus to get from the that train to the Bangkok Train Station. Let me know if that was confusing lol
@@WhereisBrad thanks bro, saw some vlogs, i learned that from BKK i can take airport link and then transfer to SRT eastern line at lat trabang
You bought a ticket to Cambodia from which station in Bangkok...?thanks in advance

You can search "Bangkok Train Station" on Google Maps. I added a link in the description. Let me know if you're still having trouble finding it or if you need any more information!
The train station is called "Hua Lamphong." I use it all the time, unless I'm going to Malaysia.
Thanks you very much!!
This might be a very stupid question
I looked on RUclips for this train ride but from toi pet to Bangkok but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know where I could find some information about this?
Interesting. I’m actually not sure how to find out.
Try searching for trains from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet (Thai city next to the border). I know this is the opposite direction you’re wanting to go, but maybe this will help you find the routes I’m seeing on 12go.asia. From there, see if you can reverse to find your desired direction. You may have to cross the border to Thailand and then get on the train.
@@WhereisBrad ill look into it! Thank you alot for your quick response! I've seen that you have gone too places I also want too visit so ill be watching alot more!
No prob! Let me know how it goes!!!
Hi Brad, do you recommand to go by flight (100$) or train to Cambodia from Thailand for 3 night stay? Thanks
It’s a matter of time and money. If you have only 3 days and are okay with the spend, you might skip the train to make the most of your time. If you have the time, I actually do think the train was super fun and would recommend! It was not he most comfortable seating, but otherwise I really enjoyed it! Make sure you don’t have to go #2 though 😉
Nice video and informative.. very cheap.... I'd love to go by train..hehhee. when entering Cambodia do I need return ticket going back to Bankok?I mean by train.. Thanks ..
I didn’t need anything like that. I just went. With my evisa
@@WhereisBrad Thanks..48 baht very cheap..I will stay for 3 to 4 days.thanks for very informative video..keep up good work dude
Glad I could help! Have fun! Let me know if I can help with anything else!
How much was the visa?
I believe it was $30 plus a processing fee of like $6. It can change so I recommend doing it in advance with time to wait. It took a few days only so try to do it a week in advance at least
Which city in Cambodia does this train arrive at?
It goes to Krong Poi Pet
@@WhereisBrad thank you
after that I can take a bus from krong poi pet to sieam reap right
or take a bus from bangkok to sieam reap
Which one is better

@@mo7senmohamed836 After crossing the border into Poi Pet I looked for Bus Stations, but they were all vacant and empty. The only option I could find were taxi drivers offering rides. I ended up walking far, eating at a restaurant, and having the restaurant owner's friend bring me to Siem Reap. It's kind of scary, but I think taxis will be your only option. Does that make sense?
I think I take a bus from bangkok to sieam reap only
What time does border close by the way sir?
That’s a good question! I don’t remember I’m sorry!
@@WhereisBrad i just pass the border now and they said their close by 10pm

That’s awesome to hear! Motivates to make more like it when people share feedback so thanks! I’m actually going back in a month so I’ll have more Thailand stuff soon :)
Hi..! Brad, I want to suggest something about Thai Culture, for foreigners of different cultures, It may not seem important in Western Culture. But it is very important in the cultures of Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia (It's have similar cultures because they are Buddhist cities). In all situations lifting the legs higher than the head of Thai people is considered impolite.
Hi. Thank you for sharing that! For the scene where I put my leg in the chair there was no one around, and I honestly just did it quickly for the video. Regardless, you bring a good point and I will try to be conscious of that in the future! I now have a Thai wife, and she always keeps me in check. Thanks again!
Hi what is the name of the train station!
Hey! Check out the description. I included the name of the station, and a google maps link so people can find it easily!
Let me know if you have more questions, happy to help!
Great Trip
Thank you! I had a great time doing this one!
You know what's bad bro? I'm going back to the Aranyaphathet/Poipet border on the 3rd to visit Phnom Penh again. This will be my 5th time, I've dealt with the scammers and scam routes time and again, I know their games tactics. It's just very good that you and I have learn all this while we're young. Btw, I am also an American.
Haha that’s dope!! And I totally agree! Soon we’ll be scamming the scammers.
Noice video !!
Hahaha! Noice!! He was pretty awesome… and may debut a future video 😉
absolute banger
Yeuh! Thanks!!
$1.25. Can we buy the ticket on the spot in this bangkok train station
Yes you can! I bought it on the spot that morning in the video. It was very easy.
Amazing! Did we zoom out through a toilet? haha
Hahahaha. Nice catch. Def a much prettier sight than what was really there…
What are the train timinngs bro
There’s the early one around 5-6am, and a later one. I believe at 11am.
What is noice phone nr?
It’s in the description. Let me know if you need anything else!
Can u we take visa on arrival by train
I believe visa on arrival is an option, but after a very confusing time entering Laos using visa on arrival, I went with the e-visa. It took about 3 days and I highly recommend that instead for Cambodia. Search “Cambodia Entry Requirements” to make sure you’re prepared because things can change.
I have a video showing my experience entering Laos too. I entered Thailand three times with VOA, and it was simple and fast.
The taxi to the station costed you more than the trip itself lol
Hahaha true!! So crazy
So handsome. 🤪😉❤️
Thank you very much!
@@WhereisBrad I guess I am falling for you. 🤭
Hahaha I’m flattered. But fyi I got married last year 😊🙏
Omg how sad in my part. 😂
Lol
Do you have the number of the taxi driver?
Yes! His name is Noice, and I put his WhatsApp number in the description.
Thanks I think Noice was the Tuktuk guy, :) anyway will contact him.
Oh sorry. No I don’t have the taxi’s number. I also can’t figure out the name of the restaurant where I ate, where I was connected with the driver. But maybe ask Noice about that? If that works please do share!
@@WhereisBrad thanks Brad and yeah will contact him and get the taxi number :) watched your videos, very helpful . Hmm just a question, I am a female solo traveler you think it’s safe for me to take the same route you did?
The majority of my trip felt safe. The part where I’d be cautious is after getting into the taxi. For me, it was the friend of a restaurant owner. They could’ve taken me anywhere. I kept my phone open and made sure my route match Google Maps. I think for you it should be fine to use a taxi being offered at the border, but maybe try to split with another group of travelers.
My goal was really to take time finding the bus. I walked to like 5-6 bus stations on Google Maps, and all were closed or vacant!
You totally copied this from travelwithchris
I actually talked to Chris about this. He and I spent a week together and he recommended I take the train. I told him I felt like I was copying him, and he told me that it’s RUclips, and everyone makes the same videos so just do it. I do want to be original, but as a new RUclipsr I figured I’d just go for it. Chris is a super cool guy and was very supportive to me.
Another misleading video. The train goes only from BKK to the Thai Cambodian border. No train in Cambodia. Railway station in Poipet burnt down.
Oh, no wonder I couldn’t find anything in there. Sorry if I was misleading, I was honest about it being my first time during the video. I did show how to get to the border at least 🤷♂️
$45 if you took a flight much quicker, less stress for the extra $23 a flight would be my choice, but hey you made some content and you'll make some bucks from you tube
Lol yep. Next time I’ll be taking a plane for sure! But it was still a cool experience!
