Crazy CHEAP TRAIN RIDE from Thailand to Cambodia for $1.25 🇹🇭/🇰🇭

  • I took an insanely cheap train from Bangkok, Thailand all the way to the Cambodian border. Then I crossed on foot and took a taxi and a tuktuk over to Siem Reap, Cambodia. From all the research, stories, and preparation I did in advance I was expecting a horrible experience full of discomfort and scams. But I was surprised to encounter nothing but great things, every step of the way!
    The train wasn't very comfortable, but it was a comfortable temperature, spacious and roomy, and even had street food vendors walking up and down the aisles selling food, snacks, and drinks. The taxi ride to the city was relaxing. And even the tuktuk driver "Noice" was very friendly, helpful, and brought me straight to my hostel.
    I highly recommend taking this same train in the morning if you want to visit Cambodia. I still cannot believe it was only $1.25!!!

That is how I found your channel. So cool. I'm a newbie RUclipsr too. Just started a month ago. I wish you will grow massively because your personality and aura and perspective are really refreshing. Most videos complained about Cambodia and the overall energy was a bit negative from some channels. Your energy was great therefore your experience was great. I'm reluctant to tell you any specifics, because the rules change often. I just did a search and it seems that if arriving by air, you'll have to take a $5 test, and won't need to quarantine. This is from July 2022, so I may not be looking at the most recent.
      www.embassyofcambodiadc.org/arrival-procedure.html
      (^ This has a link to the document I was quoting before)
      I usually search for "Cambodia entry requirements" and try to find an official site. This can be tough because it's hard to tell sometimes. Just make sure you pay attention to details like: national vs. foreigner, dates, arrival by land/port/air, etc. I hope this is helpful.

      @WhereisBrad  Год назад

      I’m pretty sure I showed my vaccine card. But because the laws are constantly adjusting, and because every country is different, I recommend looking it up.
      It also depends on where you’re from. I just checked and there are no Covid entry requirements for US citizens, but check you’re country to be sure. I searched “Cambodia entry requirements”.

    • @WhereisBrad
      @WhereisBrad  Год назад

      There are money exchanges, but there’s kind of scattered. They should be able to convert your euro and baht. ATMs are pretty easy to find which is where I got most of my cash. They accept US dollar and their currency, but make sure you have no old bills, creases, tears, or stains. They are very strict with that. So make sure your bills are fresh if you do an wxchange

    Just recetly traveled from Thailand to Cambodia by bus and absolutely no problems, spent 5 days in Siem Reap and encountered zero scams. Tuk Tuks in Cambodia are not like in Thailand as they provide basic transportation at a reasonable price, I even hired one for a few days of touring around at about $30-40 a day. Cigarettes are 75 cents a pack and costs in Cambodia seem to be lower than Thailand and Laos. The Cambodians I met were very friendly and seemed genuinely happy for your patronage. If you want to go to Angkor Wat you will need to purchase tickets outside of the site or online prior to going, you cannot buy tickets at the entrance.$5 for a tuktuk from old town to Angkor Wat, dont be surprised if you driver offers to wait for you and drive you back to town.

    • @WhereisBrad
      @WhereisBrad  Год назад

      Oh nice!
      There are two main airports. The main Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airport is pretty far from the city center. The other Don Mueang is closer but I’ve never been. I just take Grab, which is like Uber, for about 400-500 baht, to get into the city from BKK. You can use Bolt too. I think I remember signing up for Grab from the Us, but being unable to finish registration until I got to Thailand. So if you do that make sure you do that while on wifi or after getting cell service figured out, and before going out to the street.
      From BKK you can also take a train I believe. It’s much cheaper, but I think it takes a lot longer. And I’m not positive, but confident, that you’d need to take a bus to get from the that train to the Bangkok Train Station. Let me know if that was confusing lol

      The majority of my trip felt safe. The part where I’d be cautious is after getting into the taxi. For me, it was the friend of a restaurant owner. They could’ve taken me anywhere. I kept my phone open and made sure my route match Google Maps. I think for you it should be fine to use a taxi being offered at the border, but maybe try to split with another group of travelers.
      My goal was really to take time finding the bus. I walked to like 5-6 bus stations on Google Maps, and all were closed or vacant!

      I actually talked to Chris about this. He and I spent a week together and he recommended I take the train. I told him I felt like I was copying him, and he told me that it’s RUclips, and everyone makes the same videos so just do it. I do want to be original, but as a new RUclipsr I figured I’d just go for it. Chris is a super cool guy and was very supportive to me.

    $45 if you took a flight much quicker, less stress for the extra $23 a flight would be my choice, but hey you made some content and you'll make some bucks from you tube

      Lol yep. Next time I’ll be taking a plane for sure! But it was still a cool experience!

    Another misleading video. The train goes only from BKK to the Thai Cambodian border. No train in Cambodia. Railway station in Poipet burnt down.

      Oh, no wonder I couldn’t find anything in there. Sorry if I was misleading, I was honest about it being my first time during the video. I did show how to get to the border at least 🤷‍♂️
