Tested: K2 Mindbender 90Ti 2021 all-mountain ski

A maple and aspen woodcore is enhance with a machined layer of Titanal metal on top. The metal laminate is shaped in a Y configuration, so you’ve got drive and power over the edge as you engage into the turn. The metal’s full width underfoot for improved grip, then the metal layer runs centrally in the tail so you’ve got the support there without being locked into the turn.
The ski has a combination of cap and sidewall for most of its length. Full cap at tip and tail, with sidewall increasing along the length until you reach the binding area. Here, the sidewall’s full height, and it penetrates further into the core of the ski. This central, broad sidewall’s called Powerwall. Powerwall is designed to increase drive through the edge, to boost grip through the apex of the turn, and it works; even though this ski’s 90mm in the waist, you get bags of bite.
Moderate rocker through the shovel aids flotation in soft and variable snow, then you get standard camber underfoot, finished off with a short, shallow rise through the tail.
We know it’s personal choice, but we think the graphics across the Mindbender range are better this season, especially for the 99Ti, 90Ti and 85.
