    I swapped the bridge pickup in my very first guitar (a super-cheap retail store thing) for a PAF Pro all the way back in 1985 and it still sounds incredible. I've played pickups from a lot of brands over the years but I've always found DiMarzios to be more versatile and dynamic than anything else that isn't some boutique made-to-order builder. I've got a Les Paul with the stock Burstbuckers (that are mediocre) and these PAF 57s are calling to me.

    Ironically on clicking this video and seeing your cliffs of Dover styled demo on the intro, I see an advertisement for Eric Johnson’s new Dimarzio humbuckers as I’m hunting for guitar parts 😂 great playing as usual Cam! These pickups sound great! Gives me an idea for my Epiphone ‘59 Les Paul. Also love to see another Edwards guitar in your flock! Eastern made Les Paul’s are heavily on the rise these days and most RUclipsrs and Gibson players I know have at least one in the collection. We truly are living in a golden era of instrument and gear manufacturing.

    • @gkol69
      @gkol69 3 месяца назад +3

      PAF (no dots) is the name trademarked by Dimarzio and not P.A.F. that means Patent Applied For, like PAF 59, PAF 57, PAF 36th, PAF Masters. So, it's pronounced "PAFF".

    • @CameronCooper
      @CameronCooper  3 месяца назад +4

      Cheers! Fully enough, brits tend to say 'paff'. Is it no longer an acronym since the patent is no longer being applied for? Plus there's no full stops denoting it's an acronym on DiMarzios website. I guess it's whatever people want to call it.

    Lovely playing Cam, though I vastly prefer the sound of this guitar from the video you posted two years ago with the Duncan pickups in it:
    ruclips.net/video/gYZ510Q1nNE/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=113
    These DiMarzio's sound thin, brittle, and harsh compared to the rich full midrange of the Duncan JB & '59 combo that you had in it previously.

      @CameronCooper  3 месяца назад +1

      Using a totally different sound to show off the character of the pickups and when it comes to my playing, I'm wearing a totally different hat so to speak on purpose. My usual hard rock style didn't feel right for this video and fancied toning down unlike the video you're referring to.
