Phew - great video and so encouraging. I've just monetized (yeah 31.7.22) after a seven month grind andmy first 'pay day' was 1p ! Never has such a modest amount looked so good 😎😎My RPM is about £1.97 and CPM about £15-18 Still not sure about all the stats but the channel finally has a trickle of income. Sub'd and will watch some more videos when I get a moment ( editing furiously for upload 😃😃)

You've probably worked this out but the RPM is for whatever the time period selected is... so if it's for 28 days it'll include the days you weren't monetized, so the RPM may very well go up! If you select 7 days on the top right hand corner itll give you a more accurate measure

Also, I am sure that you have worked this out but I have very good news: The RPM is divided across the whole month including when you were not monetized... so those 'no pay' days look as if they are bringing down your RPM. To get your true RPM, click on the top right hand side and change "Last 28 days" to "Last 7 days" to see a more accurate RPM Hope this makes sense and well done again - your channel is awesome!

Another quality video Neil. It's so useful seeing your analytics and being able to see how they all relate. I never considered the seasonal drop offs as affecting payments so that's an eye opener....great job as always. In terms of suggestions of videos for you I would be interested to see a comparison of how your videos do with ads at beginning and end compared with videos with ads middle and end plus couple of mid video ads also....I know you have played about with these before but would be great to see comparison between them....no worries if that's not doable buddy. Hi Travel and Pasta! Thanks for the kind comment and CONGRATULATIONS! I have very good news for you. No need to freak out, but completely understand the worry. Two things... The first is that the RPM figure is based on whatever the selected period is - it's probably 28 days, up in that top right hand corner. But RUclips divides your money from 1 day across those 28 days so it looks like a super low RPM. It won't be that figure in 28 days, promise! You can either select a custom period to select only the days that you are monetized (but even then beware that it takes 48 hours to get a figure, so don't include the last 2 days) Or just wait a week - or better, 9 days - then select Last 7 days to get a better picture of your RPM. The second thing is it takes a few days to settle down - I had a crazy high figure on day 3 and thought my RPM would be that every month and sadly it's not - but it was super low on day 2 so I'm really pleased and relieved. Finally, I'm sure you've done this already - but I make sure all ad types are selected on all videos, and later on even manually place ad breaks on my longer videos - though I think the auto placement of mid-roll breaks is probably better. Hope this helps - let me know how you get on, but today's figure should be a little bit higher!
I just watched your video trying to learn RPM and Estimated Revenue. My channel has 1.4K subs only and monetized for 2 months now. my RPM are: Jul 2.4$ / Aug 1.33$ / Sep 2.22$ I really dont know if my videos are doing good or not.. :)

I have worked out why the RPM start low, If you just got monetized the RPM is worked out on all the views you have. So the views you got before you got monetized brings your RPM down. New videos you release will start with a higher RPM.

your rpm had been increasing month by month because of the numbers of subscribers and the length of videos that were more than 8 minutes,so you put more ads ,right?
thanks for the kind question -- I set youtube to automatically place the ads, and yes, they put more in to videos longer than 8 minutes I'm going to make a video comparing 2 videos that are getting about the same number of views each month but one has double the RPM -- and it's affected by length, topic of the video and the age/geography of the viewers...

Hi Nancy, firstly, thanks for the kind question and... CONGRATULATIONS! ! ! ! That's fantastic news - the only way from here is UP! Come back in a month if I am wrong but... I've found the first month figures are really weird, let alone the first day! I think, the analytics might be dividing all your views in the last month, with the little revenue you've brought in for the first day - so it won't be a proper 'average' until at least next month. (So it might have divided the revenue from one day across all the views over the last 28 days when you haven't been monetized). You'll get a better idea in a week, if you select "Last 7 days" on the top right of your analytics - next week - then it'll be an RPM for views and money while actually monetized, so the RPM will be more accurate. On top of this, I've also got a hunch that it takes a couple of months to settle down anyway... so I just tried making the number of uploads go up in that time! I'm sure you've done this already, but make sure all the videos have all of the monetization options selected that you want (I turned everything on every video, because I'm greedy, but missed some out by accident). Your channel looks fantastic - and you've got lots of nice long videos on there which will really help the RPM. If you go to the top right hand corner and select, say, 7 days you should see an improvement ... or "Custom " and the days you are monetized - that should be more accurate. Also I've just seen a message from RUclips that theres a glitch on the 1 & 2 of Dec so that might be affecting your RPM too. It should all iron out over 28 days. Be aware that the reported figure also does not include the last day as it takes at least a day to catch up which can screw up a figure when we're watching and calculating!!
