Agreed
J&L aural
@@fi5976 An aural history would be nice too.
Yeah lol but I mean he said aural not oral
Oral is like mouths and stuff
Aural is hearing
sensational work. very enjoyable. only a bit mad that you threw Burnt Sienna under the bus.
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
Why have you taught me more than my secondary school ever did
firingflares because he’s Daniel j Layton
I was literally just about to comment this!
Because you didn't listen at school...
Because you're a fucking idiot probably
I feel like "sorry, WHAT!?" perfectly encapsulates current general politics.
This was outstanding. I think i've said it before but I do think your true calling is as a host of something. Your acting is good but your personality and ability to quip like you do is just stellar and engaging. I've been a confused American reading British youtuber political tweets for the last couple years and I was able to comprehend more in these 18 minutes than in the entirety of that. You were clear and interesting and very funny. I liked the rolling around in the ballots screaming "dEMocRACY" part the best lmao.
Can you be the British Phillip DeFranco? Thx.
ditto! I'm an American watching a video on British elections that happened 3 years ago and I didn't regret a moment of that time! I learned a lot about British politics (and I knew a little bit going in ) and immediately wanted to see more of you doing more of this kind of thing!
4 months of A level politic lessons summed up in 20mins by my favourite guy, what a revision tool
honestly lmao. stick it mr bently I got Daniel j now
Lmao wait till year 13 a level politics. Fucking mental
Year 13 politics is hell :')
Ageneralspoon wait till uni
@@Sara-ld6nh who in their right mind would do it at uni after enduring the agony that is A level Politics. Good luck sis ;_;
already certain that i’m going to send this to all my uni mates
Oh hell yes I'm so ready to be EDUCATED
YES DAN
thank u for ur map, boo x
So well researched and edited! I learned more from this about the state of British politics than I ever have from snippets of trending news 💚
"Democracy has a sense of humor" honestly the most logical explanation for all that is going on
Daniel J. Layton: the hero we need, but don't deserve.
This is the best election summary I've seen so far. Please do a post-election summary too, to help cheer me up after the inevitable Tory win
YES DAN I LOVE LISTENING TO YOU TALK POLITICS ❤️
Everyone else: VOTE 🗳
elleeeennn
I've spent most of today crying and worrying about my future, feeling helpless because I'm 16 and therefore can't vote. This video has given me hope that people will think about what they do tomorrow; thank you Dan
I’m 20 and I’m voting tomorrow and I’m keeping everyone under 18 in mind! A lot of people I know are also doing the same so let’s all hope it’s good enough to get the Tories out!
@@felicityaeh I want to vote too but I still am so confused! I want a future. I want to travel, I want mental health to be more included in NHS etc etc but I've read so many things that aren't what i want only partially......
Annie Basson What party (or parties) are you currently leaning towards? x
Just know that there are a lot of young voters out there(myself included) who will do everything they can to keep the Tories out
Annie Basson “an election isn’t a marriage, it’s a bus ride”: vote for the party closest to where you want to go. By the sounds of your comment, you want to vote against the tories - there are many sites to help tactical voters.
My partner who is a civil servant agrees that this video was awesome! So well researched and presented! Love your videos and love your take on this very important issue! 👌🏻
Watching this after the result just make the whole thing a lot sadder cause I think this video is super important and informative 😞
I can't vote yet, I'm literally two months too young, but I believe this to be an extremely beneficial video and I will be sharing it with everybody who will listen, thank you Daniel.
Emily Withers I’m 18 days to young its the worst
I was a July ‘02 baby so i was few months too young to vote. It’s absolutely gutting
I just watched this with my 60 year old dad and you managed to make him question his ways
Well done!
IM LIVING FOR THIS ABSOLUTELY SAVAGE BREAKDOWN!

Yeah that checks out
so my brother who is a university student, registered to vote months ago and travelled home, however they never sent him a polling card and when he got to the polling station they told him, due to how busy they were with the election, they didn’t have the time to send him a piece of paperwork he needed to sign first due to a clerical error. i have heard of many other people i know who are students and got told the same thing. knowing that students are mainly labour/left, it feels very suspicious that they have literally not been allowed to vote even though they’ve registered. no wonder it was a massively conservative majority...
What a terribly stressful time in our world for you to create some amazing and educational content.
Still can't believe I showed this video to my whole business class cause I got fed up explaining the election process lmaoo
Zoned out for a minute and when I came back I thought we were talking about Jesus “think about what that cross represents, who that cross is for, what future that cross will bring”
"Sorry, WHAT?!" is literally my reaction to every political news I've heard this year. You made me laugh about things I cried about months or years ago, so thanks, baker, comedian, youtuber, singer and actor Daniel J. Layton :D
im an american with a scottish mom and nana so i watch these to have educated conversations with them lmao thank you dan!!
As a German I still think it’s weird that people have to go get registered to vote.. it’s like the county doesn’t want their people to vote ...
It stops idiots really
@@jackmulford6509 I read that as "it stops people that disagree with me". Who is an idiot by your definition?
I'm American and this video just taught me more about Brexit and British politics than any amount of watching the news over the last three years has. Well done thank you for the excellent video
watching this in the second week of 2021 is an EXPERIENCE
Definitely want more episodes of Sorry, What?! You were pretty clear about your biases but provided a really clear picture of what’s going on, even to someone who’s not from your country.
I study poli sci and I still learned a couple of things from this, so I'd say you did a good job! Also making this stuff funny is hard, so thank you for achieving that, too
I'm not even from the UK, but this is great! Very informative and fun. Hope things turn out okay for you all over there tomorrow!
As someone not from Europe, I thought this was a truly excellent video. I didn't have a good understanding and this was a great amount of detail
I just watched this whole video although I'm German and i enjoyed it very much. Good job, Daniel J. Layton, I feel so much smarter now. :)
Absolutely excellent. Concise and unpatronising, brilliant work Daniel. Wish they'd played something like this when I was still at school!
Really good summary - more of this please Daniel!
This is also a top notch video which should be shown in schools across the nation. This is how to get kids paying attention to politics and the news. Very funny, best breakdown I’ve seen 😂
i really appreciate this video! it can be hard getting caught up and informed about everything all the time and this really helps
I'm not from the UK and I'm very far from politics but damn even I learned and remembered things from this video. Thank you! You really do have a talent for presentations.
"second time in three years"
2022: HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
i’m just a 25 year old polish gal sitting at home eating precooked dinner and i gotta tell you this was such a good video i’m sad it ended. funny informative, the whole package. i hope yall brits go and vote today bc this election is not only crucial to the uk but the entire eu. make me proud
The pen adds to the vibes
Honestly thank you for that, Dan. As an 18 year old voting in my first general election it's hella confusing and nowhere do you get taught anything about it. Obviously I've tried to look things up and educate myself but you've made it so much clearer - seriously think all people voting for the first time should watch this
This is a very good video. One I didn't think I'd watch but ended up enjoying (and learning - wow). Would love more!
Daniel, I don't know if someone's said this already, but this was incredible.
Educational, informative, targeted appropriately and not at all patronising, AND entertaining.
Truly incredibly put together. well done x
This is brilliant, Daniel J. I'm a journalist in Australia and I don't think I've read or seen an explanation of the whole mess that beats this. Thank you!
this video was literally amazing
ooohh im starting to have growing interest in learning more about politics around the world and this seems like a good and easy to understand video to start with uk! cant wait to watch!!
Excellent vid as always 🙌
I live in Australia, I had no idea the UK doesn’t have preferential voting like we do! It’s a much better system - it deals with the vote-splitting problem.
I want more long, educational videos like this. I learnt a lot from this; you kept it clear and entertaining!
Have you ever considered doing standup? You’ve got impeccable comedic timing
Daniel, only you could have made this video the way you did, and I am deeply grateful that you did it.
It's so fascinating how similar the electoral system is between Canada and the UK and also how different it is? Especially since we also just had a federal election in October (however, you can imagine how much I related to the cold part of canvassing). The explanation about FPTP did give me throwbacks to our 2015 election because it was a major issue for all our parties, except then the party we elected who promised to get rid of it... didn't.
It is wILD to me that you have to pre-register to vote, and if you don't you just.... can't vote? Like, that... THAT is INSANE. It seems like an easy way to suppress minority voters who are typically more left-leaning. I don't get that at all though.
Omg please do this more often you are awesome at this
This was fun! And interesting! I have always tried my best to inform myself before elections and vote, of course, but it's never been fun before. Even the background explanation bits! You wizard, thank you so much for this!
Ooft this was super informative- as an Australian who has just arrived in the uk today I finally understand what tf everyone is arguing about.
As an American viewer catching only occasional comments on Twitter this video helped to explain current British politics so well. Thank you Dan!!
As an American, I wish you guys luck. We get exactly how you feel.
This was genuinely so interesting, entertaining and informative. I love Dan so much. As someone who knows bare minimum about politics I feel so much better now
Your sense of humour tickles me more than anything else, thanks for this excellent content
More of this please!! Excellent
Brilliantly done, Daniel J. Layton. And thanks for reviving my fond memories of Burnt Sienna Crayons.
Dan, this was EXCELLENT. Well done you. Slickly done, informed and approachable. Adam and his binders would be proud x
THE BINDERS 🙌🏻
Thank you for this, Dan 🙏 I dont know what will happen in the next couple of days, but this made me smile.
As an American who knew nothing about British politics, this was so informative and relatively easy to understand for someone who's never heard about any of it before
This is such a comprehensive, succinct, and fact-packed video, i love it and ive learnt more from it than i have about Brexit in the ladt 3 years. Well done.
I only wish you would have put this out 3 weeks earlier so i could have applied for a postal vote instead of what is actually happening: giving up hope and not voting.
This was amazing! Ready for a baking with layton mixed with politics show in 2020
This was quite British, thank you for this.
That was a fantastic video that really put things into perspective.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to put it together and know that at the very least you've made at least 1 person vote tactically tomorrow.
Just... what an excellent video. More like this, please and thank you!
I went to mcm two years ago and met you there, and we chatted about politics for about 30mins - funny to think two years later it’s still in exactly the same state 😂
I’m from the States and this is incredible and although I thought I had an understanding, this was SO INSIGHTFUL thank you !!!! Also I about pissed my pants at the “she laughed like a panto villain” 🤣🤣 Whew, that got me good
At the risk of sounding like an Tory™, well said that man.
Also, small but important note from a disabled voter for all you lovely able bodied voters - when you go to vote, PLEASE, check that your polling station has disability access and accommodations. If they don't, ask why not, preferably loudly and obnoxiously. Because even in 2019, not all polling stations are accessible to disabled voters.... the same disabled voters who have been disproportionately thoroughly trampled on, kicked, and left in the gutter to die by the last 10 years of Tory government. Funny, that.
If a polling station is not fully accessible, that station is preventing disabled people from voting. That's voter suppression. That's illegal.
Please, be an ally and make sure your disabled fellow constituents can have their voices heard too. We've been ignored and forgotten too much already.
this video will be used in future history classes
A hearty thank you from Australia!!! I’ve been trying so hard to understand what the ruddy hell has been going on over there and this was GOLD. Dare you to do our government next 🙃
I request more of this please! Sassy yet educational political commentary combined with the odd pop culture reference (I conquer that Michelle Visage was ROBBED) is Daniel J gold!
Shared this on Instagram and have been talking about it every chance I can. Thanks for this, Dan!
pLEASE make more of this daniel PLEASE
I have that mug, or i did until my dad broke it by accident.
I bought him a new one for his birthday that's twice the size cuz sainsburys stopped stocking the normal size one
I'm not from the UK or anywhere near it, so it's quite comforting in a morbid way to know that my country and the UK have so much in common. The thing in common being: we're fucked.ಠ_ಠ
Absolute brilliant video!!!
This is brilliant. Thank you so much for doing this
this is BRILLIANT. you are a star daniel j, thanks for this!!
I wish I was a British citizen just to vote on this damn Brexit
17 year old here wistfully watching everything go down without being able to vote...
Absolute genius
12/10 would recommend checking out the description (if not for all the very educational and informative linked then at least have a little chuckle at the thanks Dan has left)
Very well done Dan! What a breakdown! Both entertaining and educational. Sounds like a skit of satire instead of reality. What keeps happening in politics just seems absurd.
I need a "Sorry What?" on Partygate and the absolute chaos currently going on with this new leadership race. Feels like Dan would have fun with this one
This is so important!
Good video. Gooooood video.
Also hello Dan’s Christmas Tree 2020!
BRILLIANT, Dan. Loved this. Sharing it with everyone. x
Shrieking at the Farage bit. This is so well done!
I don't think I've ever come across anything that has explained British politics so well...and all with a little bit of beautiful sarcastic charm
Genuinely crying at this video , so scared about this election.Thank you So much fo this Dan!
"Bernard Cribbins Tribute Act"
i drew boris johnson's face on a balloon and jumped on it. felt good
This video was utterly brilliant- I just wish I could have showed my friends this video a few weeks ago when we could still send off a postal vote
This is the best political video I've seen this election. Feeling emosh after your little bit at the end about what each vote represents 😭
omg i love it - get this man on the MASH report
