  • Quick video with some shots of our recent climb up Ptarmigan Glacier in Colorado.
This was late May and there was still a lot of snow in the mountains; we opted to start early so we didn’t have to be dealing with melting snow (increases the avalanche risk) so we started from the trailhead at 04:00 am.
In addition to regular training I made sure I ate plenty of calories the day before and of this climb.
Hydration: 1 liter in the AM before we started moving, 2 liters during the course of the climb and hike, 1 liter waiting in the truck.
I always add some electrolytes to my fluid - despite it being “winter” in this vid it gets warm and sweaty when you’re working like this!
I always load up on Rhodiola and Cordyceps before I’m doing anything at high altitude; they have some good benefits for athletes at altitude.
