I was in the audience, the reason I felt less into alexinho’s second round wasn’t lack of volume, it was that it felt like he was going somewhere but never got there. Like it was waiting for a big moment but he kept going with the fart bass without a punchline. More so than volume, julard had spontaneity and groove more so than alexinho. In general, regarding your comment about julard’s rounds in this event, it always felt like he was very “in the moment” more so than anyone else. Everyone else felt like they brought routines and he was just flowing in the moment. GBB21 and 23 felt like they were favoring a meta where people come with over prepared routines and just do showcases on stage and julard felt like he was battling. Back to this battle, alexinho is known for countering and playing with his opponent, but his rounds felt like showcases, and julard was countering. Which is why I was disappointed that alexinho didn’t counter julard very much and julard took the energy of the battle for me.
@@NYNmetal Alexinho couldn't counter Julard. If he did, it would not have worked because of his microphone. Just like how ABO ICE countered REMIX but it didn't work because of his microphone
@ I feel like the abo ice counter came across decent in the audience but more so than the volume what was lacking was the quality of his inward bass. Remix has a very smooth tone but ice’s felt very harsh, like he’s clearly not as good at the sound as remix. But the tech he did on top of it was better so it was still fine. But he still would have lost because of the rest of the round being lacking. I feel like all these comments about the mics being unequal are burying the lede because the beatboxers who lost all lost had rounds that were just not as good in the battle as their opponents. Ice lost his flow, helium was louder but didn’t have a lot to show in his rounds, wing did slow showcases when his opponent was going high energy, and alexinho did relatively simple routines when julard was countering his flow. Even if loudness was a thing (which I didn’t feel like it was huge but maybe that’s because I was near the very front) each of them had mistakes in strategy that ultimately lost them the battle IMO. PS: No disrespect to anyone, everyone on stage is an incredible beatboxer at the top of the game
@@NYNmetal ofc a lot of the things you say are true. However, in ABO ICE case, the microphone was actually a huge factor in the counter not working. Yes, he lost the battle because he forgot his round. Even if he had a good microphone, he still would've lost because he forgot his round. But I'm not talking abt why he lost, I'm just saying his counter didn't work because he had a bad microphone. And ik this is true, because I heard him do that same inward bass counter at Haten with a good microphone, and it sounded like ONE OF HIS BEST BEATS EVER! So yeah I'm not talking about why they lost in my reply to your comment. I'm just saying that Alexinho countering would not have worked, and I'm 100% sure Alex knew this and decided not to do it. Because if he did counter, it would have made his round worse

D-Low noticed the microphone issue in his reaction series on multiple occasions, but everyone kept commenting saying that the mics were fine and checked before. Glad you cleared that up!
Im pretty sure people were saying there was no mic problem because at the start of each round the mics were tested, not saying that the mics were fine, but thats why people said there was no problem.
I've always found the line between having a defined style and simply repeating the same thing over and over to be very thin. Thats why I don't really like that argument
I agree. Being repetitive is part of having a concrete style. Even I repeat all the time. But, in a competition setting it is interesting to discuss this. Because the ones who bring something new in every round tend to go far and win in the end. However, there are some times when that is not the case. Like Inertia GBB21, or Julard GBB24
@@stitch_mus1c True, thats why most of the best battle beatboxer can do it all. But I think one of the thing that made julard go so far in the competition is the insane counters and hype he brings to the stage kind of similar to napom
I wasn't there, so all I'm seeing are the videos and reactions. But you are not the only one saying the issue with the microphones. Or two or three witnesses are a matter is established. Unfortunate.

Just like his elim, going no where ending up with the same thing😂
@@stitch_mus1c that's so true alexinho is so good in battles, so then, I also believe that he inmediatly choose to not counter Julard.

Were the mics non interchangeable? Was the mic on the right always on the right? Bc a lot of people now are saying that it's the mic with the issues

Freestyling lets Julard choose to pitch in tune with the system or room's low resonance. I don't think it's fair to say that's for sure just luck.
ok the mic thing is fucked??? seeing the semi's with one mic very much confirms it too
also julard def has the inertia effect
