Most of my life I have worked on different types of boat's especially my uncle 32 ft private fishing boat. I started at age 10 about 45 years ago I played deck hand, steered the boat, mechanic, you get the picture. For a free fishing trip every weekend. except for the last 18 years. Anyway one day I had a another tankerman tell me well there's nothing to do today he's just going to watch movies. I said man you're on a boat look around there's always something to do. My point is yours is not even in the water yet and you're doing maintenance. Coming up with new ideas. Even though you're not finished yet. When it's in the water, The fun begins and the work never ends. An old wise man told me that. I always called it fun work.

One suggestion; put a “teardrop” weld zinc inside of your seachest, if you have enough room to get in there to weld. Often times, sea chests are the first to corrode out, form galvanic action / turbulence!

I've got a neighbor who the whole community calls Glades from the old sitcom called Bewitch. She's just like her, she like 70s years old now and she still hasn't learn the decency to mind her own business. She has to be in every bodies business, some time its just hilarious, other times it down right annoying. Our neighbor like five houses away found her in her closet in the upstairs bedroom and said to her, what the hell are you doing in my closet ? she didn't reply she just walked out of the house. One time when we were having an addition build on to our house, she'd was found many times downstairs talking to the builders and my wife finally had to tell her to just go home, you need to leave them alone, they have a job to do. And they can't get the job done with you talking to them all day, She's nuts.

The wash basin in the workshop area has sharp edges on the splash guard, maybe round them and add a small diameter rubber pipe to cover, seen in video at 10:32. Don't wanna be bumping into that edge on a rolling sea.

Weld a ring to the standoff tube so you can have a lashing to it while doing this under water while diving.
Add the same on a bolt on form form for the screwed rod.
That way you only need two hands to keep up with the bearing and your wrench...
    ;-)

one inch all thread with three tapered legs and a tapered cone, the legs free float the cone wedges the legs out and then you put a cross bar to tap with a hammer to extract the bearing

Nice work but ember that’s stern tube and cutlass is a press fit - careful with the sanding ...doesn’t take much to reduce the tolerances and then the bearing could potentially spin ....

Suggestion on the cutlass bearing we put scoops in front of the cutlass bearing that kind of help water to flow through the cutlass bearing and out the shaft and I haven't had to change 1 in 15 years I'm a commercial fisherman Alaska we check it every year and there's never any slop the water keeps the cutlass bearing lubed we have stainless Tail shafts You may have a different system go and I didn't see any kind of a stuffing Box so my suggestion May not work for you but you might Check in to it feel free to text me if I can help

With regards to the shaft log. It's mild steel, right? Have you thought of lining it with a PVC tube? I found a very good fit for my shaft log, and bonded it in place with 3M-5200. After more than 20 years in the water, it still looks very good. I change the cutlets bearing from time to time, but the integrity of the PVC tube looks as original.
