  • The three men convicted of murdering Ahmaud Arbery will be sentenced in Glynn County Friday.
A jury found the three white men accused of killing Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man guilty on most of the 29 charges they faced the day before Thanksgiving.
Arbery was shot and killed on Feb. 23, 2020. Cellphone video leaked to the public shows two armed white men in a truck approaching the 25-year-old Black man as he runs down the road. One of the men, later identified as Travis McMichael, and Arbery struggle over McMichael's shotgun before Arbery is shot and collapses.
Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael and William "Roddy" Bryan, who recorded the video, are all charged with murder in Arbery's death.

You know what's "cruel" and "disproportionate"? Running down a 25 year old black man with a pair of pickup trucks, shotgunning him to death, and then arguing at your trial that being sentenced for the MANDATORY sentence for the offense is "too much time." These pieces of trash should rot in jail.

Technically...Point of actual fact...Only one of the three killed a person. Being a murderer by definition means that you personally killed someone. It's a hard fact to reconcile and a bitter pill but it's the truth. Felony murder rules are unfair and the irony here reading the posts is that the felony murder rule has historically hurt more POC than anyone else. I suppose I'm a little confused about reconciling cheering in this case while objecting in others to felony murder. How do we work for progress in the criminal justice system when we have trouble making sense of the law. It makes no sense unless justice is now a synonym of vengeance. I for one reject the idea that vengeance is a substitute for justice.
