I cannot agree more, German equipment have always been overengineered - and then it is extremely expensive to repair when broken. With that said, when they work, they are good. Cheers.
I got my 1997 trailblazer in exchange for a bolt action rifle, a set of body armor, and $250 cash. It came with a thermal arc portafeed suitcase wire feeder, a TIG rig, 200 feet of lead, and mounted on a metal skid to go in the back of a pickup. It's a great machine, and i absolutely love it.
@@1nvisible1 we met in a neutral location, 50 miles from my house. And it was 3 years ago. And i moved from Wisconsin to Texas since then. I think I'm good. 🤣
@@MeltinMetalAnthony it had 887 hours on the clock, and needed a little carburetor work, because the choke wouldn't close, and it wouldn't low idle. A generous amount of carb cleaner and the old trick where you rev it all the way up and cover the carb with your hand until it dies got it running like new. I don't run anything but ethanol free gas in it, and i haven't had a problem since.
I started with a big 50 with a continental in it but had engine problems. If you get an old welder go through all the hoses and get them fresh. Heater hose cost me the welder and the block has to be milled on most of those to rebuild them. I appreciate you anthony
I have a 1966 SA200 that was a barn find I restored. They are amazingly durable machines that will run for years. They are a one trick pony though. Wonderful stick welder with that pure DC arc, no circuit boards unless you have the idle upgrade. Mine still has the R57 vacuum idler and works perfect. The F162 Continental with the straight pipe is really sweet. I really don’t need it but it’s fun to play with, I’ve done a few side gigs with it so it doesn’t owe me anything
Im at 20 years old got my rig ready just getting as much knowledge and experience I can get before I fully break into my own business definitely been motivated watching this channel
You’re exactly right Anthony! For a general mobile welding service, the Lincoln 305G (I currently own 2 of them and just ordered a Lincoln 330MPX) or the Miller Trailblazer is all the machine you will ever need. The super expensive, super heavy diesel machines are fine for pipe liners or someone who’s going to do a butt load of arc gouging.
Yep. I'm hooked. Gotta burn to learn as my teacher says. He was also a union welder for Eboat. (They make submarines for the US Navy.) He knows his stuff.
I have a harbor freight outlaw 195 and it’s bad ass welds just as good as any miller or Lincoln I have ran started my welding business with it and still using it
Been welding for over 30 years and have used almost all, lol even the cheap ones. It is hard to beat a Lincoln. Even the newer generator Lincolns weld smoother than a Miller, and they have remote hookups as well. My friend was a diehard Miller guy until he had to use my Lincoln. He sold his Miller's and bought all new Lincolns.
I’ve got a Lincoln ranger 8, got it for free from a friend since the motor wouldn’t run. I got it running and verified everything worked and now gonna put new piston/rings so it actually works and doesn’t puke oil. Total cost is gonna be like ~$500 and my time.
Currently run a 225 bobcat and it gets the job done for building carports and metal buildings. I notice most guys who arent pipe welders tend to gravitate towards the trailblazer and bobcat around here
You crack me up with the ending of every video I live N.J. and that what I tell everybody that does not agree with me. Hell the middle finger is the state bird, so keep it up thanks for all the video [keep burnin rod, stickin steal and makin slag peel]
I'm just starting out and I have the same TrailBlazer 302. It does everything I need it to do including running my whole house when mother nature has her panties in a bunch. Got it pre-2020 with 700hrs for $4k. Just bought a small plasma table and keep investing in better stuff as you go. Keep up the good content Anthony!
Yes Anthony more of this content I love you talking about this shit (you are definitely a hundred percent right about the extra cash flow to start a business )
I have a Ranger 305D on my truck at work, My personal one at home is a TB 302. It hasn’t given me any problems yet, so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and use it till it dies! I would like an SAE 300 MP or cross country one day.
So many variables. but I've went through 5 welders since when I first started on my own and finally got a good one knock on wood. If you have the budget but don't want to buy new I suggest a used machine from a rental company. Bobcat if your doing general Welding, trailblazer for a next step up. My personal machine and I would buy one over and over again is a big blue 300 or 400 pro with the Kubota. Kubota for the reason of cheaper replacement parts. But having a diesel machine to sit there and run and weld all day long means a lot to me with pretty nice Welding characteristics. Just my opinion for what I went through.
I had a Miller 301g Trailblazer I really loved it, it welded GREAT the only problem I had is the ethanol in the gasoline would cause corrosion in the bowl and eat the gaskets up, I fixed that with an electric fuel pump, I would just shut it off and let the engine use up all the fuel in the bowl till it died. Plus with an electric fuel pump, if you haven't used the welder for a while, you don't have to crank it for a long time for it to start.
I traded an 02 VW golf I bought for 400$ for a 96 or 98 Lincoln Ranger 8 it’s a really good machine I don’t have a truck I’m 20 and I went to school for collision repair but I decided I wanted to get into welding business. The welder it’s self doesn’t need anything except the auto idle doesn’t work so you have to keep it on full rpm if you want to weld but it’s a great machine. I work at a fab shop and I’m still learning to stick weld then eventually wanting to Start my own business
I started with a trailblazer 251, got an SA200, and now I have a Miller (Eco) Pro 400. I got that machine for $4000 in an auction. It came from Sunbelt rentals and man does that thing just purr. Just gotta find the deals! If it wasnt for that deal I would be rolling around with a trailblazer or a lincoln ranger any day.
Have a 2015 model that I bought New Old Stock 3 years ago it's set on the store floor for 4 years I bought it for $2,900 I'm not having a problem with that particular version of the Hobart 225 it is DC only constant-current 9500 Watts continuous I want to say it's 11000 watt speak I'd have to look again I only really use it for carbon Arc cutting most of the time I'm plugging a 220 volt stick welder into it because I'm dragging a 50 ft or 100-foot 240-volt cord into a building to run an electric machine off of so I don't have to walk that far back to the panel it's been a good machine I am thinking about getting one of the newer and propane-powered 325 am Millers that has arcreach on it
Sheesh I have a Vulcan 195. Paid under 900 for it. It was going for 1800, opens a credit card with 0 interest and a 20% off. They told me it would arrive in a week and didn’t for 3 months and the gave me a 600 dollar rebate on it :). I’ve been welding socket weld fittings, hand holes and wedding bands on cmlc pipe. It’s not a trailblazer and have to watch duty cycle on it but it’s worth what I paid for it so far.
Some thing for people to realize on a sa200. They run phenomenally with minimal electronic parts. But there are a DC only machine. So if you use ac power tools you’ll need another generator
I should have bought a dually. I have a Toyota tundra, and I added an extra leaf on each side. Do you think I can handle a Miller bobcat? I offer Welding and Handyman Services only because if there’s nothing to Weld, I want to stay busy.
I primarily work in power plants, alot of stainless stick 309 308 etc.I use Ranger 350's and havent had any real issues for years. I run a suitcase off them here and there. They're propane gas fuel, sometimes the machines need to be in the plant and gas or diesel sets off they're o2 meters. Electric welders aren't used because during a shutdown , electricians like to constantly kill your power. pain in the ass. So, yeah the Lincon ranger 350 is a good versatile machine. Keep up the good work , Bro. 👍
Not engine drive but for the $1200 i paid for my Eastwood mp250i elite i couldn’t beat it… few hundred more than harbor freight and it came with all the torches, a tig pedal, a cart that’s built into the machine that holds 2 bottles mig and tig and a separate regulator for each one. It will accept a spool gun but it won’t do ac tig. It came with the electrical adapter, holds up to a 40lb spool, and the things just been great. Highly recommend it for someone who doesn’t want to put up a few grand but wants better than harbor freight and a multi process machine. The cord and all the leads were all 5’ longer too so can reach 10’ further than harbor freights. Everything on it doesn’t feel cheap. I don’t think there’s a better welder for the money. I’ve only had it like 2 years and have put 5 10lb spools through it and probably 30+ pounds of rod and no issues yet so we’ll see how it is in the long run but so far so good.
My father has a 305 g Lincoln welder his job was gonna toss and been sitting in the weather but covered . I’m thinking of just putting that bad boy on my Tacoma 🤣 a lot of people apparently want their stuff fixed so I’m thinking about it tbh .
off topic another channel that's interesting to watch is swrnc with my friend pete. Love his channel does auto body work. Restores antique cars and shows what its like to work your ass off and get the job done with me myself and I lol. Tells it how it is what its like being self employed.
I'm a big fan of all your videos. I'm starting my own mobile welding business and because of financial circumstances I went with a Miller Multimatic 235 and a Duramax generator with 15000 watts of power. The machine can only weld up to 3/8 thick of material but it's capable of doing carbon, stainless and aluminum. Do you think I can really get a good start with equipment of that sort?
I have a Hobart champion 16 and it seems really good got a deal on it for 1500 came with a trailor had a problem with the brushes which just edges need to be cleaned and gave me some carb problems but other that it runs great
Can’t go wrong with a miller or a Hobart I got a steal on my vantage but I was seriously looking at a champion elite 260 and I still may buy in just to have
I'm looking to buy one. By chance can you pull the dimensions of the frame? The one listed online are for the wheel and handle kit. I'll be securing it to a trailer, so I won't need that.
I’d worked on a lot welder . I back up what he’s say .. If looking for a welder just to burn rods. With out all the fancy stuff . Look for a miller 225G unit or a miller NT225 unit. They are older unit but that don’t have the computer boards in them . I like the 225G units the rheostat in them are heavy duty . Not as mush in the NT units . More of a plastic. Rheostat. With copper connectors. And the bobcat 250 you see out there is same way . I like the 225G . Just for stick welding. And running Ac votes for grinders .
best advice you gave was telling us not to even think about mobile welding unless we have at least $5000 laying around. And you'd better have some damn jobs lined up before you decide to pull the trigger on it.
I have a miller trailblazer 325 diesel with excel power and I paid 6 grand for its been pretty good. I think for mobile welding the miller air compressor one would be pretty cool if you got money 😂
Only thing that compares to the Trailblazer is the Lincoln 330 mpx. I just run my lowly Ranger 225. For hvy equipment and truck/trailer repair….perfect. And I’m to cheap the give 8,000+ for the 330mpx.
@@MeltinMetalAnthony my buddy Aaron @bulldog_Welding , has one. I can’t wait to run it through the paces to see how smooth the arc is. He says it runs great.
I have the 330 mxp, it's a good machine, does everything well. I bought mine 3 years ago when they had a deal for 3399.00. Glad I bought it then, it replaced my weld an power 225 that I had for 35 years. I do doubt that the 330 will last that long. I have the ln25 and the spoolgun that goes with the 330 too. All work well together.
Hey Anthony, any chance I could have 10-15 minutes of your time for a few emails or calls about getting into the business and all of what I'm doing right now in life brother? Thanks for all your inspiration and knowledge you have taught me!
What about me being 16 yrs old and in high school still in school. And I currently own a 120v mig/fluxcore Mastercraft Welder. And my dad has a generator that will run my Welder. How well would you think that will do to build up a name and to gather money for an engine drive?
Hey, I have a Lincoln Ranger 225, Kohler engine, only 50hr on it. What can I sell it for? I see online they currently listed for 8180ca. I’m from southern Ontario, Canada
Another machine you can find for a good deal that gets alot of crap from people is the Lincoln vantage 300 I’ve had 2 of them with over 7k hours with no major issues also had good luck with the Miller big blue 300 pro before the bs you could pick one up for less then 4500 bucks
heh, i just watched your what to do for non payment video and i just realized you are in my area florida wise lol. would love to meet up and get some awesome pointers as i just started welding 3 months ago and currently going to school for
What does a welder need to be equipped with to run a suit case wire feeder? Independent truck mechanic here that doesn’t like welding but has been forced to learn the trade because nobody in my area will. Got a Lincoln weldenpower 225 from like the 80s that serves my needs but would like to run a suitcase so I’ll probably be updating soon.
I use a used trailblazer 302 to and I also run the miller multimatic 220 off of it if I need to use a different process and it works very well for me but I’ve been looking to upgrade to a new trailblazer or a Lincoln so if you or anyone has advice between those two I’m willing to listen plus I’m going on three years into the trade and still willing to learning more about it especially with the machines since they’re the money makers for me.
Im making 27 an hr MIG/TIG racks for Chrome dipping, i wanna make the switch to mobile truck and welding, is there a field in repairs ? And could it be good money?
Just a lil anecdote, I work at a welding college and we have two miller pipe pros. Both ran at about 115 hrs each. We just did an oil change on both of them, and one of them had metal shavings in its oil and leaks out the ass. A $25,000 should not be having that happen.
Would you guys recommend for or against a clean miller aead 200le for a first engine drive welder? Price is $800. Seems like parts could be hard to find.
Theres no good deals here in new mexico sells engine driven welders with 2k to 3k hours on them beat to shit for 4k to 5k i am still saving up money cause i got an old sa 200 welder for $2500 and blew a valve after 2 months of use. And i cant find a crankshaft for it. So now i am back to looking for another welder to get back to work. And i am out 2500$ because of the sa 200 hopefully i will fix it back up again but its gonna coat $4000 to completly rebuild it.

I'm looking to buy one. By chance can you pull the dimensions of the frame? The one listed online are for the wheel and handle kit. I'll be securing it to a trailer, so I won't need that.
@@cz75tactical9 it will say on the website the dimensions... just cut the handles off so there not in the way
@Tools and More I know and the wheel kit is bolt on. There isn't one local to me, but I know for a fact the body isn't 46" long and 28" wide.
I may be biased but I love my 2022 pipe pro 400
If you're looking for engine powered Lincoln all the way, if you're in an outlet or shop Miller just my opinion
John the mvp !
What ever happened to your big Ford “ Desert Storm” truck?
Love ur vids gr8 stuff! could you possibly have similar results using a 7kw generator and a FIRSTESS MP200 Yes welder?
I have a miller trailblazer 325 diesel with excel power and I paid 6 grand for its been pretty good. I think for mobile welding the miller air compressor one would be pretty cool if you got money 😂
Only thing that compares to the Trailblazer is the Lincoln 330 mpx.
I just run my lowly Ranger 225. For hvy equipment and truck/trailer repair….perfect. And I’m to cheap the give 8,000+ for the 330mpx.
I wanna try the mpx
@@MeltinMetalAnthony my buddy Aaron @bulldog_Welding , has one. I can’t wait to run it through the paces to see how smooth the arc is. He says it runs great.
I have the 330 mxp, it's a good machine, does everything well.
I bought mine 3 years ago when they had a deal for 3399.00.
Glad I bought it then, it replaced my weld an power 225 that I had for 35 years.
I do doubt that the 330 will last that long.
I have the ln25 and the spoolgun that goes with the 330 too.
All work well together.
Why not a generator and an inverter 3in1 welder, That's what I had to use for along time. Worked fine for me
Hey Anthony, any chance I could have 10-15 minutes of your time for a few emails or calls about getting into the business and all of what I'm doing right now in life brother? Thanks for all your inspiration and knowledge you have taught me!
I bought my miller trailblazer 250g for $350 ran but didn't weld got it fixed with help from Facebook group
Thanks Dude! That helps!
Simple answer, whatever is in your budget.
😂 the ending
Plus the copper in the old ones
Anthony what do you think of the wildcat 200 with the Subaru engine.
heh, i just watched your what to do for non payment video and i just realized you are in my area florida wise lol. would love to meet up and get some awesome pointers as i just started welding 3 months ago and currently going to school for
Millers customer support is da best!
I ran a ln7 off a weld an power 225 for years. Talk with your welding supplier.
Hobart!
Thanks dude!
this man with his up most honestly fucking kills me
Hey Meltin what do you think about the blue star 2E?
I want learn tig but I don't have power to our condo for any equipment wanna try weld a boat in a storage unit lol
Deisle if yo can afford it. I run a Lincoln. I never stop looking either. I work on all my own sht. If you want it done right do it yourself
💯
Amen..
😂your good shit love how real you are bud
Im making 27 an hr MIG/TIG racks for Chrome dipping, i wanna make the switch to mobile truck and welding, is there a field in repairs ? And could it be good money?
No bullshit and straight to the point. You’ve got a fucking sub from me brother!
Is your trailblazer 302 gasoline or diesel?
Just a lil anecdote, I work at a welding college and we have two miller pipe pros. Both ran at about 115 hrs each. We just did an oil change on both of them, and one of them had metal shavings in its oil and leaks out the ass. A $25,000 should not be having that happen.
Would you guys recommend for or against a clean miller aead 200le for a first engine drive welder? Price is $800. Seems like parts could be hard to find.
Great video 👍
Dude I traded a Yamaha YFZ450 four wheeler for a 2018 lincoln 305G with 26 hours on it!
Nice man! Hope it serves you well
If I was gonna spend 30,000 on a welder I’d go with a Lincoln vantage with the air pack for air arc and air tools
Love the videos
Thanks man!
Esab has a engine drive welder that looks like a good starter
My opinion is the best welder is the one that have already.
