  • My review of the Master Grade Guntank (MG-124)
A rather impressive non-mobile suit MG kit, filled with gimmicks.
Overall look is done quite well. This kit follows the MG 2.0 design language with a highly detailed interior and somewhat sparse exterior. The core fighter is the same 2.0 version from the Gundam 2.0 so a degree of part interchangeability between the two kits is possible.
Gimmicks include spring action in the main cannons and tread suspension. Functional tread system with height adjustment (although it is quite a chore to build this). Opening panels on the main body, simulated gun action on the Bob missile launchers, and an LED unit is included to add lighting to the head. You get four figures with the kit along with seated pilot figures. An optional cockpit head frame piece is included for the canopy but I prefer the look without this.
Overall articulation is decent, probably better than what you would expect from a tank like figure. Arms have an okay range but no clavicle joint. No hands here to fuss with. Waist articulation is limited but it is as it should be with the Guntank. The tread assemblies can reposition themselves via a somehow complex inner "leg" mechanism, allowing more interesting posing options. However care must be taken not to break the treads or dislodge the inner piston on the joint.
Marking included are the sticker and dry transfer type. About an equal amount of both with most of the dry transfers being small details which are probably difficult to apply.
Overall I feel this is as a good a MG Guntank could be. In lieu of accessories, you get a kit packed with neat gimmicks. Building it isn't the best experience though as much patience is required, but the end result is quite nice.
    8/10
