i think she wanted her opponents to protect their faces better with the racket. That's why she spoke with the translator. She couldn't really get proper shots off at first. She was worrying about accidentally hurting them.

I dunno... but I'm going to assume she does cuz her Dad does. My wife was born/raised in Hungary till she was 6 and moved to Canada... and she's completely fluent in Hungarian but speaks english with absolutely no accent. I'm gonna assume that Sharapova's pro'lly the same. She sounds almost completely American, but she can pro'lly turn on the Russian switch when she has to. I honestly don't know know.
Maria was being awfully nice to them.. ad it been me, I would ave started lobbing to the woman at 30-30. The girl didn't look like she'd know how do do an overhead smash.
