Thanks for your help! This video helped me navigate my way through an art assignment I am currently doing. I have to paint a Paul Cezanne painting on a wooden chair! Unfortunatly, I have to use acrylics, but this tutorial is making my painted apples look a little less terrible. Thanks again.

Haha! Glad I could help! I am using acrylics too, and it is true that it makes it difficult for the “creamy” texture…
And for my accent: I am French! But I have been living in Asia for a good 20 years now…

Well, somehow, I am sure it wouldn’t be so different… keep your paint « creamy », and work slowly stroke by stroke, apply the shadows and the lights… I’m sure you can give it a try!
@@mygeekfamilycotton what medium do you suggest for acrylic paint?
Water is fine for acrylic. There is this retardant to make it dry slower that you can use too. It makes for easier mixing of Color on the canvas itself.

Hi Sally! Yeah, I think so… the treatment of colors afterwards was different though… I do have 2 vidéos about VanGogh in my list, they refer to portraits but maybe you can check them out? The process should be similar for landscape

Thanks a lot! Yeah, that will be for another chapter… perspective is limited on a still life, compared to , say, a landscape… but I Hope it is a good approximation !

Cezanne didn't paint like this. He only went over paint if he needed to as a choice to bring together the color harmony and composition.. Note when looking at many Cezanne's the canvas showing through in varied ways. So, on many of his works, you can see every brush stroke and essentially he hides nothing in the process. It is this kind of spontaneity that truly reveals the self in expression rather than some conceptualized version of the truth. And, his work is ALWAYS a balance of brush, color, motif and artistic intelligence. What you are doing is imitating Cezanne based on your pre conceived ideas. Actually something he abhorred. His quote, "If you copy me you do not love my work,"
